  • This paper proposes a non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) based low-complexity relaying approach for multiuser cellular two-way relay channels (CTWRCs). In the proposed scheme, the relay detects the signal using successive interference cancellation (SIC) and re-generates the transmit signal with zero-forcing (ZF) transmit precoding. The achievable data rates of the NOMA-based multiuser two-way relaying (TWR) approach is analyzed. We further study the power allocation among different data streams to maximize the weighted sum-rate (WSR). We re-form the resultant non-convex problem into a standard monotonic program. Then, we design a polyblock outer approximation algorithm to sovle the WSR problem. The proposed optimal power allocation algorithm converges fast and it is shown that the NOMA-TWR-OPA scheme outperforms a NOMA benchmark scheme and conventional TWR schemes.

  • In this paper, we propose a time-varying modified minimum mean-squared error (MMSE) detector for the detection of higher data rate signals in a multirate asynchronous code-division multiple-access (CDMA) system which is signaled in a fast Rayleigh fading channel. The interference viewed by a higher data rate symbol will be periodic due to the presence of a lower data rate symbol which spans multiple higher data rate symbols. The detection is carried out on the basis of a modified MMSE criterion which incorporates differential detection and the ratio of channel coefficients in two consecutive observation intervals inherently compensating the fast variation of the channel due to fading. The numerical results obtained by the MMSE detector with time-varying detection show around 3 dB (M=2) and 6 dB (M=4) performance improvement at a BER of $10^{-3}$ in the AWGN channel, while introducing more computational complexity than the MMSE detector without time-varying detection. At a higher $E_b/N_0$, the proposed scheme can achieve a BER of approximately $10^{-3}$ in the presence of fast channel variation which is an improvement over other schemes.

  • Blind techniques without the help of training sequences are able to detect the information signal which has the minimal information of desired user. In this paper, we proposed the blind multiuser detector using the hybrid cost function to cancel the multiple user interference in direct sequence code division multiple access systems. The cost function of proposed blind multiuser detector is the hybrid type which joints both least mean square(LMS) algorithm and least mean fourth(LMF) algorithm. We evaluate the bit error rate(BER) performance of proposed blind multiuser detector under additive white Gaussian noise channel. Simulation results show that the proposed blind detector has an about 3dB of signal to noise ratio more than blind minimum output energy(MOE) multiuser detector under existing active user 20.

  • In this paper, we introduce a modified interference cancellation scheme to overcome MAI in DS-CDMA. Among ICs(Interference Cancellers), PIC(Parallel IC) requires the more complexity, and SIC(Successive IC) faces the problems of the long delay time. Most of all, the adaptive detector achieves the good BER performance using the adaptive Inter conducted iteration algorithm. So it requires many iterations. To resolve the problems of them, we propose an improved adaptive detector that the received signal removed MAI through the sorting scheme and the cancellation method are fed into the adaptive filter. Because the improved input signal is fed into the adaptive filter, it has the same BER performance only using smaller iterations than the conventional adaptive detector, and the proposed detector having adaptive filter requires less complexity than the other detectors.

  • DS-CDMA downlink distinguishes actual user by orthogonal spreading codes ,but its orthogonality may be lost by the multiple access interference(MAI) caused by the multipath channel. Therefore in this paper, we proposed the single-user receiver, which use linear channel equalizer to eliminate the interference due to multipath channel and to recover orthogonality and then use code-matched filter to detect transmitted data. Unlike existing research, which mainly assumed ideal channel information, we use pilot channel assisted methods that is a kind of transmission of a parallel reference method to estimate the channel coefficients. Especially we use guard symbols which are inserted periodically to estimate channel coefficients exactly without interference from user signal. The results show that we accepted an approximately ideal channel information and achieved excellent performance improvement using proposed receiver compared with the conventional receiver especially user populations are high.

  • Hopping sequences of Time Hopped Ultra Wideband Impulse Radio (TH-UWB-IR) system are to mitigate multipath fading and to provide the multiple access chances for multi users. For the reliable communications, the same pulses are repeatedly transmitted for a bit duration based on hopping sequences. The proposed decoding scheme utilizes the intervals of inter-codes in a frame where the short interval between two pulses leads to the large interference by the multipath fading. For a single user case, the proposed method obtains 0.5dB gain over the conventional method at BER=$10^{-3}$. Decoding performance of repeated pulses can be increased using the property of the hopping sequences of multi users.

  • Recently, orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing(OFDM), with clusters of subcarriers allocated to different subscribers(often referred to as OFDMA), has gained much attention for its ability in enabling multiple-access wireless multimedia communications. In such systems, carrier frequency offsets (CFOs) can destroy the orthogonality among subcarriers. And the mismatch in sampling frequencies between transmitter and receiver can lead to serious degradation due to the loss of orthogonality between the subcarriers. As a result, multiuser interference (MUI) along with significant performance degradation can be induced. In this paper, we present a scheme to compensate for the SFOs and CFOs at the base station of an OFDMA system. A novel sampling frequency offset estimation algorithm is proposed, which is based on the repetition of a symbol at the communication start-up. Then, circular convolutions are employed to generate the interference after the discrete Fourier transform processing, which is then removed from the original received signal to increase the signal to interference power ratio(SIR). Simulation result shows that the proposed scheme can improve system performance.

  • The performance of existing CDMA-type multiple access data transmission systems is limited by interferences due to adverse mobile communication channel characteristics. Among them, the multi-user interference becomes one of the major performance degradation factors because the signal-to-signal orthogonality can be easily perturbed when numerous user signals are distorted by multipath fading channels and mixed together. In order to enhance the performance of CDMA-type systems by suppressing the multi-user interference, we have adopted chip-based cyclic prefix insertion along with adaptive one-tap DFE equalization into MC-DS-CDMA, which is known for its robustness in the frequency selective multipath fading channel environment. In order to assess the performance of the proposed system, a set of computer simulations is performed in the reverse link in which each user signal undergoes different multipath Rayleigh fading. The results show us a superior performance of our system over other CDMA systems in terms of SNR to BER measurements.
