MIMO 레이다 환경에서 Polar Format Processing 기반 이동표적 이미징 (Polar-Format-Processing-Based Moving Target Imaging in MIMO Radar Environment)

  • 본 논문은 여러 송수신 레이다들이 지상에 고정된 MIMO(multiple input multiple output) 레이다 환경에서 이동표적을 이미징할 수 있는 알고리즘을 제시한다. 제시된 알고리즘은 평면파 근사를 사용한 polar format processing에 기반한 것으로 수신 레이다 간 이격이 큰 경우에도 복수의 송신 레이다를 사용해서 앨리어싱(aliasing) 현상이 배제된 이동표적 이미지를 얻을 수 있음을 보인다. 앨리어싱 현상을 줄이면서 해상도를 높일 수 있는 송신 레이다 배치에 대한 조건을 제시하며, 또한 각 송신 레이다에 의한 표적 산란 신호를 수신 레이다에서 분리시킬 수 있는 방법을 제시한다. 마지막으로 시뮬레이션을 통해서 제시된 MIMO 레이다 시스템의 성능을 검증한다.

  • In this paper we propose a waveform design algorithm that localizes the maximum output power in the target direction. We extend existing monostatic radar optimal waveform design schemes to bistatic multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar systems. The algorithm simultaneously calculates the direction of departure (DoD) and the direction of arrival (DoA) using a two-dimensional multiple signal classification (MUSIC) method, and successfully localizes the maximum transmitted power to the target locations by exploiting the calculated DoD. The simulation results confirm the performance of the proposed algorithm.

  • Currently, various sensors have been used for advanced driver assistance systems. In order to overcome the limitations of individual sensors, sensor fusion has recently attracted the attention in the field of intelligence vehicles. Thus, vision and radar based sensor fusion has become a popular concept. The typical method of sensor fusion involves vision sensor that recognizes targets based on ROIs (Regions Of Interest) generated by radar sensors. Especially, because AVM (Around View Monitor) cameras due to their wide-angle lenses have limitations of detection performance over near distance and around the edges of the angle of view, for high performance of sensor fusion using AVM cameras and radar sensors the exact ROI extraction of the radar sensor is very important. In order to resolve this problem, we proposed a sensor fusion scheme based on commercial radar modules of the vendor Delphi. First, we configured multiple radar data logging systems together with AVM cameras. We also designed radar post-processing algorithms to extract the exact ROIs. Finally, using the developed hardware and software platforms, we verified the post-data processing algorithm under indoor and outdoor environments.

  • We designed the multiple scattering points generation system to simulate an actual situation of target signal for high range resolution radar system. This provides replicating the target signals and controlling the status of target signals for radar system. This is composed transmit antenna and multi target generator. Transmit antenna is waveguide array antenna and multi target generator has signal distribution module and control & power module. Multi target generator is able to provide the high isolation and variable output power. Moreover, in order to monitor all output signals of the multi target generator, the flows of signals are programed in control & power module. The performance is demonstrated using experimented results of high range resolution radar.

  • 본 논문은 분산 배치된 다수의 전자전 센서를 통하여 수신된 바이스태틱 multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) 레이다 시스템의 신호를 조합하여 레이다 시스템의 위치탐지 기능을 무력화 혹은 기만하는 재밍 설계기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법은 하나의 전자전 센서에서 수집된 신호를 특정주기로 지연시킨 신호들의 합을 송신하거나, 다수의 센서에서 수집된 신호들의 가중치 합을 송신하여, 표적을 탐지 못하게 하거나 허위표적을 발생시킨다. 시뮬레이션 결과를 통해서 제안한 기법의 재밍 성능을 확인한다.

  • A distributed system for tracking multiple targets with a pair of multifunction radars is proposed and implemented. The system performs track-to-track association and track-to-track fusion at the fusion center to form fused tracks. The association and fusion are performed using target state information linked via communication nodes from a radar at a remote location. Many factors can affect the track-to-track association and fusion performances. They include delays in data transmission buffer of the remote radar, the error in estimating time-stamp of the remote radar, and the gating in track-to-track association. The effects on association and fusion performances due to these factors are investigated through extensive numerical simulations.

OFDM MIMO radar waveform design for targets identification

  • In order to obtain better target identification performance, an efficient waveform design method with high range resolution and low sidelobe level for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar is proposed in this paper. First, the wideband CP-based OFDM signal is transmitted on each antenna to guarantee large bandwidth and high range resolution. Next, a complex orthogonal design (COD) is utilized to achieve code domain orthogonality among antennas, so that the spatial diversity can be obtained in MIMO radar, and only the range sidelobe on the first antenna needs suppressing. Furthermore, sidelobe suppression is expressed as an optimization problem. The integrated sidelobe level (ISL) is adopted to construct the objective function, which is solved using the Broyden-Fletcher-Goldfarb-Shanno (BFGS) algorithm. The numerical results demonstrate the superiority in performance (high resolution, strict orthogonality, and low sidelobe level) of the proposed method compared to existing algorithms.

A Multi-target Tracking Algorithm for Application to Adaptive Cruise Control

  • This paper presents a Multiple Target Tracking (MTT) Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system which consists of three parts; a multi-model-based multi-target state estimator, a primary vehicular target determination algorithm, and a single-target adaptive cruise control algorithm. Three motion models, which are validated using simulated and experimental data, are adopted to distinguish large lateral motions from longitudinally excited motions. The improvement in the state estimation performance when using three models is verified in target tracking simulations. However, the performance and safety benefits of a multi-model-based MTT-ACC system is investigated via simulations using real driving radar sensor data. The MTT-ACC system is tested under lane changing situations to examine how much the system performance is improved when multiple models are incorporated. Simulation results show system response that is more realistic and reflective of actual human driving behavior.

다중 입출력 FMCW 레이다를 활용한 합성곱 신경망 기반 사람 동작 인식 시스템 (CNN Based Human Activity Recognition System Using MIMO FMCW Radar)

  • 본 논문에서는 다중 입출력 주파수 변조 연속파 (MIMO FMCW; multiple input multiple output frequency modulation continuous wave) 레이다 기반 HAR (human activity recognition) 시스템의 설계 및 구현 결과를 제시하였다. 다중 입력 다중 출력 레이다 센서를 통한 포인트 클라우드 데이터를 활용하여 HAR 시스템을 구현하면 사생활 보호와 함께, 안전성 및 정확성 측면에서 장점이 있다. 본 논문에서는, MIMO FMCW 레이다 센서로부터의 포인트클라우드 데이터 기반 HAR을 위해 PointPillars와 DS-CNN (depthwise separable convolutional neural network)을 기반으로 최적 경량 네트워크를 개발하였다. 경량화된 네트워크를 통해 고해상도 포인트 클라우드 데이터를 처리하여 높은 인식 정확도와 함께 효율성을 달성하였다. 결과적으로, 98.27%의 정확도와 11.27M Macs (multiply-accumulates) 연산 복잡도로 구현 가능함을 확인하였다. 또한, 개발한 모델을 라즈베리파이(Raspberry-Pi) 시스템에 구현하여 최대 8 fps의 속도로 포인트 클라우드 데이터 처리가 가능함을 확인하였다.

레이다 알고리즘 분석을 위한 실시간 로깅 시스템 구현 (Implementation of Real-Time Data Logging System for Radar Algorithm Analysis)

  • In this paper, we developed a hardware and software platform of the real-time data logging system to verify radar FEM (Front-end Module) and signal-processing algorithms. We developed a hardware platform based on FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) and DSP (Digital Signal Processor) and implemented firmware software to verify the various FEMs. Moreover, we designed PC based software platform to control radar logging parameters and save radar data. The developed platform was verified using 24 GHz multiple channel FMCW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) in an environment of stationary and moving targets of chamber room.
