  • 경쟁력을 유지하기 위해 기업은 다양한 신제품들을 동시 다발적으로 개발해야 한다. 이런 제품들은 시장에 출시되기 전에 품질, 안정성, 내구성 등 다양한 시험(test)들을 거쳐야 한다. 여러 시험 수행 일정을 조정함으로 그로 인한 전체 발생 비용을 고려한 신제품의 순현재 가치(NPV, net present value)가 변하게 되며 이를 최대로 하기 위한 시스템적 방법이 필요하다. 이러한 필요성에 따라서 본 연구에서는 현실적 자원 제약이 고려된 상황에서 다제품(multiple products)들의 최적 시험 순서를 결정할 수 있는 모델을 제시하였다. 또한 수학적 예제를 통해서 테스트 수행 시간이 확률적으로 주어진 경우에도 적용할 수 있다는 것을 검증하였다.

  • Recent research has examined how changing a buyer's purchasing policy can improve the efficiency of buyer-seller transactions for a single product. This paper extends the analysis to consider transactions involving multiple products. We show that under certain conditions, coordinating purchases across products is more efficient for the buyer and the seller than maximizing transctions efficiency for each separate product. In contrast to the single product case, the original prices of the products sometimes can support efficient, coordinated transactions across products. Mechanisms like quantity discounts, which are necessary to enforce efficient transactions for a single product, are therefore not always necessary for efficient, coordinated transactions of multiple products. When such mechanisms are required, we show that product bundling by the seller can be used to maximize transactions efficiency across products.

Reed-Muller 전개식에 의한 다치 논리회로의 구성에 관한 연구 (Study on Construction of Multiple-Valued Logic Circuits Based on Reed-Muller Expansions)

  • 본 논문에서는 Reed-Muller 전개식에 의한 다치 논리 회로의 구성에 관한 한 가지 방법을 제시하였다. 먼저, Perfect Shuffle 기법과 Kronecker 곱에 의한 다치 논리함수의 입출력 상호연결에 대하여 논하였고, GF(4)의 가산회로와 승산회로를 이용하여 다치 Reed-Muller 전개식의 변환행렬과 역변환행렬을 실행하는 기본 셀을 설계하였다. 이 기본 셀들과 Perfect Shuffle과 Kronecker 곱에 의한 입출력 상호연결 방법을 이용하여 다치 Reed-Muller 전개식에 의한 다치 논리 회로를 구현하였다. 제시된 다치 Reed-Muller 전개식의 설계방법은 모듈구조를 기반으로 하여 행렬변환을 이용하므로 동일한 함수에 대하여 타 방법과 비교하여 간단하고 회로의 가산회로와 증산회로를 줄이는데 매우 효과적이다. 제안된 다치 논리회로의 설계방법은 회선경로 선택의 규칙성, 간단성, 배열의 모듈성과 병렬동작의 특징을 가진다.

Multiple Product Single Facility Stockout Avoidance Problem (SAP) and Weighted Stockout Problem (WSP)

  • We study the Multiple Product Single Facility Stockout Avoidance Problem (SAP). That is the problem of determining, given initial inventories, whether there is a multiple product single facility production schedule that avoids stockouts over a given time horizon. The optimization version of the SAP where stockouts are pnelized linearly is also studied. We call this problem the Weighted Stockout Problem (WSP). Both problems are NP-hard in the strong sense. We develop Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MIP) formulations for both the SAP and the WSP. In addition, several heuristic algorithms are presented and performances are tested using computational experiments. We show that there exist polynomial algorithms for some special cases of the SAP and the WSP. We also present a method to phase into a target cyclic schedule for infinite horizon problems. These can be used as a practical scheduling tool for temporarily overloaded facilities or to reschedule production after a disruption.

A Strategic Effect of Bundling on Product Distribution

  • Purpose - This study examines a bundling effect on production and distribution in a patent-protected industry. Despite the heavy use of bundling strategies in the information and technology industry, literature has paid scant attention to bundling of intellectual property rights. This study examines a theoretical exploration of the bundling effect on licensing behavior. Research design, data, and methodology - To address this behavior, we build a simplified model consisting of three stages: 1) bundling decision, 2) licensing agreement, and 3) competition. The subgame perfect Nash equilibrium is applied to the model. Results - A single-patent holder with superior technology grants its own license to the multiple-patent firm, thereby leaving the market. Anticipating the single right holder's licensing strategy, the multiple-patent firm offers a bundle, making the single-right holder's bargaining position weaker. Conclusions - Bundling is an effective business strategy, resulting in multiple products for a firm as it faces other firms with single-product lines in each market. Taking advantage of the multi-patent or multi-product lines, the firm utilizes the bundling strategy obtaining better technology from the standalone single-patent firms.

전문가 의견을 고려한 다특성치 파라미터 설계에 관한 연구 (The Parameter Design of Multiple Characteristics with Engineer's Opinions)

  • The purpose of parameter design is to determine optimal settings of design parameters of a product or a process such that the performance characteristics of a product exhibit small variabilities around their target values. Taguchi made significant contributions in this area. However, his analysis of the problem focused on only one performance characteristic or response, although in product and process design, multiple characteristics are more common. The critical problem in dealing with multiple characteristics is how to compromise the conflict among the selected levels of the design parameters for each individual characteristic. In this paper, Methodology using SN ratio optimized by univariate technique is proposed and a parameter design procedure to achieve the optimal balance among several different response variables is developed. Existing case studies are solved by the proposed method and the results are compared with ones by the sum of SN ratios, the expected weighted loss, the desirability function, and EXTOPSIS model.

소프트웨어 제품라인의 출시 계획 수립을 위한 탐욕 유전자 알고리듬 (A Greedy Genetic Algorithm for Release Planning in Software Product Lines)

  • Release planning in a software product line (SPL) is to select and assign the features of the multiple software products in the SPL in sequence of releases along a specified planning horizon satisfying the numerous constraints regarding technical precedence, conflicting priorities for features, and available resources. A greedy genetic algorithm is designed to solve the problems of release planning in SPL which is formulated as a precedence-constrained multiple 0-1 knapsack problem. To be guaranteed to obtain feasible solutions after the crossover and mutation operation, a greedy-like heuristic is developed as a repair operator and reflected into the genetic algorithm. The performance of the proposed solution methodology in this research is tested using a fractional factorial experimental design as well as compared with the performance of a genetic algorithm developed for the software release planning. The comparison shows that the solution approach proposed in this research yields better result than the genetic algorithm.

  • A cost model, controlling multiple dependent subprocesses with minimum cost, is derived by renewal theory approach. The optimal multiple cause-selecting control chart and individual Y control chart are thus constructed to monitor the specific product quality and overall product quality contributed by the multiple dependent subprocesses. They may be used to maintain the process with minimum cost and effectively distinguish which component of the subprocesses is out of control. The optimal design parameters of the proposed control charts can be determined by minimizing the cost model using simple grid search method, An example is given to illustrate the application of the optimal multiple cause-selecting control chart and individual Y control chart.

  • For product or process design and development, it is common to optimize multiple responses (characteristics) based on experimental data. To determine optimal conditions, we need to design the experiment, estimate a proper model for each response, and optimize the multiple responses simultaneously. There are several techniques and many research results on optimizing multiple responses simultaneously, when the experimental data are available. However, the experimental design issue for optimizing multiple responses has not been discussed yet. This paper proposes some idea on how to plan screening design when requirements for multiple performance characteristics are to be met in developing new products. A screening design procedure is developed for securing the requirements of multiple responses. Initial design factors are classified into three categories; specific, non-conflicting common, and conflicting common. After screening experiments, follow-up design region search method is suggested with respect to the most unsatisfied or important response, or overall desirability. A case study on a synthesis of melamine formaldehyde resin is presented to illustrate the procedure and to show the validity of the approach.

  • This study aims to examine the effect of mass media on fashion leadership of make-up and fashion products. The subjects of the study were 168 women consumers who lived in Seoul. Data were collected during September in 2003. Statistical analyses used in this study were frequency, Cronbach's $\alpha$, ANOVA, Duncan test, t-test, and multiple regression. The results of this study were as follows; 1. As a result of multiple regression for the effect of mass media on fashion leadership of make-up, there was a significant effect of movies on fashion leadership of make-up. 2. As a result of multiple regression for the effect of mass media on fashion leadership of fashion product, there were significant effects of magazines, internet, and movies on fashion leadership of fashion product. 3. In regard to the effects of consumer characteristics on fashion leadership, there were significant effects of consumer characteristics on fashion leadership of make-up and fashion product.
