Distributed Information Extraction in Wireless Sensor Networks using Multiple Software Agents with Dynamic Itineraries

  • Wireless sensor networks are generally deployed for specific applications to accomplish certain objectives over a period of time. To fulfill these objectives, it is crucial that the sensor network continues to function for a long time, even if some of its nodes become faulty. Energy efficiency and fault tolerance are undoubtedly the most crucial requirements for the design of an information extraction protocol for any sensor network application. However, most existing software agent based information extraction protocols are incapable of satisfying these requirements because of static agent itineraries and large agent sizes. This paper proposes an Information Extraction protocol based on Multiple software Agents with Dynamic Itineraries (IEMADI), where multiple software agents are dispatched in parallel to perform tasks based on the query assigned to them. IEMADI decides the itinerary for an agent dynamically at each hop using local information. Through mathematical analysis and simulation, we compare the performance of IEMADI with a well known static itinerary based protocol with respect to energy consumption and response time. The results show that IEMADI provides better performance than the static itinerary based protocols.

  • Door Inside Lamp of railway rolling stock is installed on interior of the side doors and illuminated at door opening and closing, isolation and fault. So drivers or passengers can notice the door status visually. In the past, a single color or Bi-color LED Lamps have been using and one ~ multiple lamp was used to implement the feature according to client's requirements. (Example: Total of between 2 and 4 lamps are required for the Warning / Emergency operation / Isolation / Fault.) However these design is not easy to apply if there is the mounting space restrictions and the problems such as rising costs can be caused. In addition, it has vulnerability from point of view aesthetic aspects. Therefore the lamp type has been required that has small size and number of colors in order to resolve these problems. Recently multi LED type door status indication lamp have been developed that can meet the requirements and this lamp has been applied in many railway projects. In this study, I'll introduce the general characteristics and mechanical & electrical characteristics of multi LED type door status indication lamp to help development of this kinds of lamp.

  • 쉽게 시험할 수 특성을 가진 SLA 의 설계에 관해 논하였다. 제안된 SLA는 hardware를 부가함으로써 회로의 상태를 쉽게 조절하고 점검할 수 있게 하였다. 제안된 SLA는 test pattern과 응답이 SLA에 구현된 함수에 관계없고 단지 SLA의 크기에 따라 유일하게 결정되는 매우 짧은 보편적인 test sequence를 갖는다. 여기서 고려된 SLA의 고장은 단일 및 다중 stuck faults, crosspoint faults 및 bridge faults이다. 또한 고장의 위치 판별 및 그 처리에 관해서도 고찰하였다.

  • 논리형 집적회로의 내부 결함을 검증하기 위해서는 설정된 초기 값을 전파하여 최종 출력 단에 나타난 값과 결함이 없을 경우의 출력 값을 비교함으로써 검증할 수 있다. 입력 단자의 수가 N인 회로에서 모든 내부신호 선의 결함을 검출하기 위해서는 최대 2N개의초기 입력 값들로 구성된 검증 패턴이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 다 출력회로에서 2N개의 입력 패턴 중, 모든 신호선의 결함을 검출 할 수 있는 최소의 입력패턴 집합을 빠르고 정확하게 생성하기 위한 방법으로 다 출력회로를 출력과 연관된 세부회로로 분리하여 각각 검증함으로써 탐색공간을 줄이는 방법을 제안한다. 이는 입력 패턴의 길이가 상대적으로 줄어들 뿐 아니라 관련이 없는 신호 선을 탐색하지 않으므로 검증 패턴 생성 시간이 감소함으로써기존의 패턴 생성 알고리즘보다 효과적인 검증 패턴의 생성이 가능하다.

Implementation of a Network Provisioning System with User-driven and Trusty Protection Management

  • Proper management on user-driven virtual circuits (VCs) is essential for seamless operation of virtual networks. The Network Provisioning System (NPS) is useful software for creating user-driven VCs automatically and must take fault management into account for physical layer impairments on user-driven VCs. This paper addresses a user-driven and trusty protection management in an NPS with an open standard Network Service Interface (NSI), as a contribution to show how to implement the user-driven and trusty protection management required for user-driven VCs. In particular, it provides a RESTful web service Interface for Configuration and Event management (RICE) that enable management of a distinguished data and control plane VC status between Network Service Agents (NSAs) in the event of a node or link fault and repair in a domain. This capability represents a contribution to show how network and protection events in a domain can be monitored between NSAs (NPSs with the NSI) in multiple domains. The implemented NPS controls and manages both the primary and backup VC with disjoint path in a user-driven manner. A demonstration to verify RICE API's capability is addressed for the trusty protection in the dynamic VC network.

  • An SPLC (Safety Programmable Logic Controller) must be designed to meet the highest safety standards, IEEE 1E, and should guarantee a level of fault-tolerance and high-reliability that ensures complete error-free operation. In order to satisfy these criteria, I/O modules, communication modules, processor modules and bus modules of the SPLC have been configured in triple or dual modular redundancy. The redundant modules receive the same data to determine the final data by the voting logic. Currently, the processor of each rx module performs the voting by deciding on the final data. It is the intent of this paper to prove the improvement on the current system, and develop a voting system for multiple data on a system bus level. The new system bus protocol is implemented based on a TCN-MVB that is a deterministic network consisting of a master-slave structure. The test result shows that the suggested system is better than the present system in view of its high utilization and improved performance of data exchange and voting.

  • The aircraft manufacturers are constantly driving to reduce manufacturing lead times and cost at the same time as the product complexity increases and technology continues to change. Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) is a solution that allows the aviation industry to manage their avionics complexity. IMA defines an integrated system architecture that preserves the fault containment and 'separation of concerns' properties of the federated architectures. In software side, the air transport industry has developed ARINC 653 specification as a standardized Real Time Operating System (RTOS) interface definition for IMA. It allows hosting multiple applications of different software levels on the same hardware in the context of IMA architecture. This paper describes a study that provided the avionics software design for separation of fault and backup of core function to reduce workload of pilot with cost efficiency.

해지드/보우타이 기법의 한계와 개선에 대하여 (A Review of HAZID/Bowtie Methodology and its Improvement)

  • A HAZID is a brainstorming workshop to identify hazards in an early phase of a project. It should be flexible to capture all probable accidents allowing experienced participants to exploit their expertise and experiences. A bowtie analysis is a graphical representation of major accident hazards elaborating safety measures i.e. barriers. The result of these workshops should be documented in an organized manner to share as good as possible details of the discussion through the lifetime of the project. Currently results are documented using a three-step representation of an accident; causes, top event and consequences, which cannot capture correctly sequence of events leading to various accidents and roles of barrier between two events. Another problem is that barriers would be shown repeatedly leading to a misunderstanding that there are an enough number of safety measures. A new bowtie analysis method is proposed to describe an accident in multiple steps showing relations among causes or consequences. With causes and consequences shown in a format of a tree, the frequencies of having the top event (Fault tree analysis) and various consequences (Event tree analysis) are evaluated automatically based on the frequency of initiating causes and the probabilities of failure of barriers. It will provide a good description of the accident scenario and help the risk to be assessed transparently.

OAPR-HOML'1: Optimal automated program repair approach based on hybrid improved grasshopper optimization and opposition learning based artificial neural network

  • Over the last decade, the scientific community has been actively developing technologies for automated software bug fixes called Automated Program Repair (APR). Several APR techniques have recently been proposed to effectively address multiple classroom programming errors. However, little attention has been paid to the advances in effective APR techniques for software bugs that are widely occurring during the software life cycle maintenance phase. To further enhance the concept of software testing and debugging, we recommend an optimized automated software repair approach based on hybrid technology (OAPR-HOML'1). The first contribution of the proposed OAPR-HOML'1 technique is to introduce an improved grasshopper optimization (IGO) algorithm for fault location identification in the given test projects. Then, we illustrate an opposition learning based artificial neural network (OL-ANN) technique to select AST node-level transformation schemas to create the sketches which provide automated program repair for those faulty projects. Finally, the OAPR-HOML'1 is evaluated using Defects4J benchmark and the performance is compared with the modern technologies number of bugs fixed, accuracy, precession, recall and F-measure.
