In the group communication which has multiple data streams and various access privileges, it is necessary to provide group access control. The group members having the same access privilege are classified into one class, and the classes form a hierarchy based on the access relations. Then each class is assigned to a secret key. In the previous schemes, a single logical key graph is constructed from the hierarchy and each member always holds all secret keys of the classes he can access in the proactive manner. Thus, higher-privileged members hold more keys then lower-privileged members. However, if the hierarchy is large, each member manages too many keys and the size of multicast message in rekeying increases in proportion to the size of the hierarchy. Moreover, most of the members access a small portion of multiple data streams simultaneously. Therefore, it is redundant to receive rekeying message and update the keys in which he is not currently interested. In this paper, we present a new key management scheme that takes a reactive approach in which each member obtains the key of a data stream only when he wants to access the stream. Each member holds and updates only the key of the class he belongs. If he wants to get the key of other class, he derives it from his key and the public parameter. Proposed scheme considerable reduces the costs for rekeying, especially in the group where access relations are very complex and the hierarchy is large. Moreover, the scheme has another advantage that it easily reflects the change of access relations.

In this paper, a power allocation scheme is proposed to improve the fairness of user data rates in downlink non-orthogonal multiple access systems with one base station and two users. In particular, the power allocation scheme is presented to maximize the fairness of average user data rates assuming independent Rayleigh fading channels, where the fairness maximization is achieved when the average user data rates are equal. For the fairness evaluation, hence approximate expressions for the average user data rates and the average sum date rate of the proposed scheme are provided by using high signal-to-noise ratio approximation. Through simulation investigation, the derived approximate expressions for the average data rates are verified, and it is shown that the proposed scheme is superior to the conventional power allocation schemes in terms of the fairness of the average user data rates.

In this paper, we assume that another transmitter can transmit its data signal in the same frequency band in order to maximize the frequency efficiency of non-orthogonal multiple access(NOMA) systems. We also focus on the improvement in fairness performance of receiver's data rates, not the maximization of sum data rate for NOMA systems. Thus, in this paper, we propose a power allocation scheme to enhance the fairness performance of average data rates of receivers considering the NOMA systems in the presence of interference. Assuming Rayleigh fading channels, the average data rates of receivers are defined, and the power allocation coefficients to improve the data-rate fairness are derived by using high signal-to-noise power ratio approximation. In addition, through simulations, it is shown that the proposed power allocation scheme can improve the data-rate fairness in the NOMA system with interference.
In this paper, we propose an adaptive multiview video coding scheme based on spatiotemporal correlation analyses using hierarchical B picture (AMVC-HBP) for the integrative encoding performances, including high compression efficiency, low complexity, fast random access, and view scalability, by integrating multiple prediction structures. We also propose an in-coding mode-switching algorithm that enables AMVC-HBP to adaptively select a better prediction structure in the encoding process without any additional complexity. Experimental results show that AMVC-HBP outperforms the previous multiview video coding scheme based on H.264/MPEG-4 AVC using the hierarchical B picture (MVC-HBP) on low complexity for 21.5%, on fast random access for about 20%, and on view scalability for 11% to 15% on average. In addition, distinct coding gain can be achieved by AMVC-HBP for dense and fast-moving sequences compared with MVC-HBP.

In this paper, we propose an Energy Efficient Media Access Control (EE-MAC) protocol for wireless sensor networks. The proposed scheme is designed to save power consumption and guarantee quality-of-service for real-time traffic. EE-MAC uses the superframe structure which is bounded by the transmission of a beacon frame and can have an active and an inactive portion. The active period is divided into the contention free period (CFP) for real-time traffic transmission and the contention access period (CAP) for non-real-time traffic transmission. We propose the exclusively allocated backoff scheme which assigns a unique backoff time value to each real-time node based on bandwidth allocation and admission control. This scheme can avoid collision between real-time nodes by controlling distributed fashion and take effect a statistical time division multiple access. We also propose the algorithm to change the duty cycle adaptively according to channel utilization of media depending on network traffic load. This algorithm can prolong network lifetime by reducing the amount of energy wasted on idle listening.

In this paper, a new random access scheme is proposed to improve the probability of successful access. In the conventional scheme, a packet is transmitted by a user using one slot and considered successfully transmitted if a collision does not occur. In comparison, a packet of the proposed scheme is transmitted by a user using one or more slots and considered successfully transmitted if there is at least one slot without collision. We evaluate the optimal number of slots selected by users to maximize the probability of successful access when the probability distribution functions for the number of users are given such as Binomial and Poission distribution. From the numerical analysis, it is shown that the proposed scheme performs better than conventional scheme.

In this paper, we consider a system with massive user equipments (UEs) in a cell and assume path loss and Rayleigh fading channels between the base station (BS) and UEs. In addition, it is assumed that the system bandwidth consists of multiple identical frequency subchannels. Under such assumptions, we propose a channel state information (CSI) feedback scheme and a resource allocation scheme for non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) transmission in order to reduce the feedback overhead of CSI generated by massive UEs and to reduce the complexity of resource allocation. In particular, for the proposed schemes, we analyze the sum data rate achievable by massive UEs in a cell and the outage probability with which the UEs in a cell do not meet the target data rate. Through the simulation results, we show that the proposed schemes can provide the superior outage probability, although it degrades the average sum data rate.
In this paper, a framework for power allocation of downlink transmissions in orthogonal frequency division multiple access-based decode-and-forward cellular relay networks is investigated. We consider a system with a single base station communicating with multiple users assisted by multiple relays. The relays have limited power which must be divided among the users they support in order to maximize the data rate of the whole network. Advanced power allocation schemes are crucial for such networks. The optimal relay power allocation which maximizes the data rate is proposed as an upper bound, by finding the optimal power requirement for each user based on knapsack problem formulation. Then by considering the fairness, a new relay power allocation scheme, called weighted-based scheme, is proposed. Finally, an efficient power reallocation scheme is proposed to efficiently utilize the power and improve the data rate of the network. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed power allocation schemes can significantly improve the data rate of the network compared to the traditional scheme.

In this paper, we apply a digital modulation scheme called Multi-Carrier Code Division Multiple Access (MC-CDMA) in which data symbols are transmitted at multiple subcarriers. Each subcarrier is encoded with a phase offset of -π or π based on a pseudo-random noise(PN) sequence. MC-CDMA scheme is introduced to combat against the multipath fading. We annalize above system and derive the average probability of error in AWGN and Rayleigh fading environment.
