Coupled buffeting response analysis of long-span bridges by the CQC approach

  • Based on the modal coordinates of the structure, a finite-element and CQC (complete quadratic combination) method for analyzing the coupled buffeting response of long-span bridges is presented. The formulation of nodal equivalent aerodynamic buffeting forces is derived based on a reasonable assumption. The power spectral density and variance of nodal displacements and elemental internal forces of the bridge structure are computed using the finite-element method and the random vibration theory. The method presented is very efficient and can consider the arbitrary spectrum and spatial coherence of natural winds and the multimode and intermode effects on the buffeting responses of bridge structures. A coupled buffeting analysis of the Jiangyin Yangtse River Suspension Bridge with 1385 in main span is performed as an example. The results analyzed show that the multimode and intermode effects on the buffeting response of the bridge deck are quite remarkable.

  • 본 논문에서는 외부지역에서 낮은 주파수 대역으로 FDD(Frequency Division Duplex)를 사용하고 내부지역에서 TDD(Time Division Duplex)를 사용하는 이중대역 동작을 하는 멀티모드 시나리오에서 내부지역의 CDMA/TDD의 용량을 조사하였다. 특히, 셀 반경, 데이터 전송률, 타임 슬롯 할당과 같은 다양한 시스템 파라미터의 영향을 분석하였다.

  • In this paper, a modified multimode hem antenna is designed to have 142 mm horn aperture radius and 921 mm length in order to be safe under 100 MW peak pulse power at 3 cm wave length through breakdown phenomenon study that threshold field strengths for the air breakdown phenomena is decided to be 3.78 MV/m. The proposed antenna is measured gain over 27 dBi and the -25 dB beam width of 29$^{\circ}$ in vertical plane.

Compact Dual-Wideband Bandpass Filter with Multimode Resonator

  • A microstrip dual-wideband bandpass filter using a multimode resonator (MMR) is proposed in this letter. The proposed MMR loaded with a T-shaped open-ended stub and a short-ended stub exhibits triple mode characteristics, and a synthesis method is developed to illustrate the wide passband with independently controllable center frequencies and bandwidths. To verify this design methodology, a dual-wideband filter with fractional bandwidths of 19.1% and 27.9% is designed and fabricated. The measured results agree with the simulations.

감마선 조사에 의한 광섬유의 전송손실 특성변화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Radiation-Induced Loss of Optical Fiber by ${\gamma}$-ray Irradiation)

  • One of the confronting problems in using optical fibers under radiation environments is producing of color centers in optical materials due to nuclear radiation. These centers increase transmission loss by absorbing propagating light. In this study, the radiation effects on optical fiber are studied theoretically. Also, optical attenuation induced by \ulcorner-ray irradiation from Co**60 for single mode and multimode optical fibers is measured at the optical wavelength of 0.85\ulcorner and 1.3\ulcorner, and the results are analyzed. Gammaray is irradiated for 5hours at the rate of 300rads/min, which is corresponding to 90 krads of integrated dose. In case of multimode optical fibers, the induced loss at 0.85\ulcorner wavelength has been twice higher than that at 1.3\ulcorner. The loss in multimode fibers has been significantly larger by 7-20 times than that in single mode fibers, dependently on fiber materials at 1.3\ulcorner.

  • 다중모드간섭을 이용한 임의 분배 비율의 광전력 분배기에 대한 벡터 해석법을 제시한다 광전력 분배는 집적 광학의 기초가 되는 부분이며 특히 광전력 비율을 임의로 조절할 수 있다면 많은 응용분야에 유용할 것이다. 본 벡터 해석법은 기존의 다중모드간섭 현상에 대한 해석적 결과를 도식화함으로써 임의 분배 비율의 다중모드간섭 광전력 분배기 설계를 보다 쉽게 할 수 있다는 장점을 가지고 있다.

Fabrication of Multimode Polymeric Waveguides by Hot Embossing Process: Effect of Sidewall Roughness on Insertion Loss

  • We have fabricated a polymeric waveguide by using a hot embossing technique and have investigated its propagation loss. The replication of waveguide channels through the use of a hot embossing technique is of interest as a single-step process that could deliver surface roughnesses far smaller than the wavelength. We have evaluated experimentally that the sidewall roughness has a dominant effect on insertion losses of the multimode polymeric waveguide. The propagation loss of the waveguide decreased dramatically upon decreasing the sidewall roughness of the channel. We have confirmed that the preparation of waveguides having nanometer-scale sidewall roughness and 0.1 dB/cm propagation loss is possible when using the hot embossing technique.

Flexible multimode pressure sensor based on liquid metal

  • In this paper, a novel multimode liquid metal-based pressure sensor is developed. The main body of the sensor is composed of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) elastomer. The structure of the sensor looks like a sandwich, in which the upper structure contains a cylindrical cavity, and the bottom structure contains a spiral microchannel, and the middle partition layer separates the upper and the bottom structures. Then, the liquid metal is injected into the top cavity and the bottom microchannel. Based on linear elastic fracture mechanics, the deformation of the microchannel cross-section is theoretically analyzed. The changes of resistance, capacitance, and inductance of the microchannel under pressure are deduced, and the corresponding theoretical models are established. The theoretical values of the pressure sensor are in good agreement with experimental data, implying that the developed theoretical model can explain the performance of the sensor well.

  • 광섬유와 micro변형기를 이용하여 다점 압력 계측 system을 구성하여 실험을 행하였다. 그 결과 pulse generator와 analog switch를 이용함으로써 100ns의 광 pulse를 쉽게 얻을 수 있었으며, 또한 3개의 광 pulse를 analog switch를 이용하여 쉽게 분리할 수 있었다. 한편 변형기에 가한 힘과 광 손실간의 상관관계를 이론치와 비교하여 조사한 결과 힘과 광손실간의 상관관계는 이론치와 실험치가 유사한 경향을 나타내는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • As low-cost optical waveguides of optical interconnects, we fabricate multimode optical waveguides using a molding process The core size of a optical waveguide is 47 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ $\times$ 41 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. We use the photoresist AZ9260 as a master, polydimethyl-siloxane (PDMS) as a mold. In transferring process to polymeric material, we employ a modified micro-transfer molding process. All processes are simple and low-cost.
