  • A resource management scheme for ad hoc wireless local area networks (AWLAN's) is presented. This scheme combines distributed resource management scheme and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing-code division multiple access(OFDM-CDMA) technique to support multimedia services with QoS guarantees. The performance evaluation has done in terms of blocking rates and QoS loss probability.

  • Recently, artificial intelligence techniques have been widely used in the computer science field, such as the Internet of Things, big data, cloud computing, and mobile computing. In particular, resource management is of utmost importance for maintaining the quality of services, service-level agreements, and the availability of the system. In this paper, we review and analyze various ways to meet the requirements of cloud resource management based on artificial intelligence. We divide cloud resource management techniques based on artificial intelligence into three categories: fog computing systems, edge-cloud systems, and intelligent cloud computing systems. The aim of the paper is to propose an intelligent resource management scheme that manages mobile resources by monitoring devices' statuses and predicting their future stability based on one of the artificial intelligence techniques. We explore how our proposed resource management scheme can be extended to various cloud-based systems.

  • In this letter, we propose a new online buffer management algorithm to simultaneously provide diverse multimedia traffic services and enhance network performance. Our online approach exhibits dynamic adaptability and responsiveness to the current traffic conditions in multimedia networks. This approach can provide high buffer utilization and thereby improve packet loss performance at the time of congestion.

  • Quality of experience (QoE) for multimedia services in macro-femtocell networks is one of the key issues for 5G mobile and wireless communications. A service management structure needs to guarantee the QoE for mobile users based on end-to-end negotiation to support service continuity. Resource management is necessary to maintain the QoE requirements of different multimedia applications, because service continuity may be impeded by delays. This paper proposes four types of resource management scheme to support consistent QoE for different multimedia services. For this purpose, a QoE structure is suggested, and a resource allocation scheme is proposed by utilizing a fixed amount of radio resources reserved for dedicated use to support QoE. Various multimedia services with different requirements (such as voice, image, and data) can be serviced simultaneously, because QoE can be provided under our proposed scheme. Simulation results show that our scheme provides better performance than a conventional scheme with respect to outage probability and total data throughput.

  • This paper has described a QoS mechanism and management for multimedia object transport protocol. Resource manager reports the system resource information to the QoS manager. Based on the combination of two informations, the more effective QoS management can be achieved by organic combination between them on the protocol time domain. Therefore, it is possible for QoS manager to decide call admission control quickly and detect and react the performance fluctuations in protocol time domain.

  • This paper proposes a novel traffic and resource management scheme based on Service Level Agreement (SLA) which allows to guarantee the quality of experience (QoE) for various high-quality mobile multimedia service users to a certain level. For this purpose, QoE-SLA coupling structure is considered and a novel scheme is suggested to suppress the processing delay of the mobile terminal and to decrease the transfer delay in the transmission network. According to simulation results, our proposed scheme can increase the total throughput and decrease the average delay by adjusting SLA.

  • The heterogeneous LTE-Advanced networks comprising a macrocell and femtocells can provide an efficient solution not only to extend macrocell coverage but also to deal with packet traffics increasing explosively within macrocells. Efficient resource management schemes are necessary to maintain the QoS requirements of versatile multimedia applications in LTE-Advanced networks because their service-continuity may be defected by some delay and information loss. In this paper, we propose a resource allocation method for the heterogeneous LTE-Advancedl networks overlaid with femtocells. Performances are analyzed by simulation.

  • The overall performance of multiuser systems significantly depends on how effectively and fairly manage resources shared by them. The efficient resource management strategies are even more important for multimedia users since multimedia data is delay-sensitive and massive. In this paper, we focus on resource allocation based on a game-theoretic approach, referred to as Nash bargaining solution (NBS), to provide a quality of service (QoS) guarantee for each user. While the NBS has been known as a fair and optimal resource management strategy, it is challenging to find the NBS efficiently due to the computationally-intensive task. In order to reduce the computation requirements for NBS, we propose an approach that requires significantly low complexity even when networks consist of a large number of users and a large amount of resources. The proposed approach linearizes utility functions of each user and formulates the problem of finding NBS as a convex optimization, leading to nearly-optimal solution with significantly reduced computation complexity. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

  • This study proposes web-based authoring system for the lecturers who published textbooks by inserting external open resource. When lecturer publishes textbooks, the system makes it easier to utilize external resources by providing an open resource pool that the lecturer can search not only his own resources but external resources. In addition, we designed an open resource pool based on Original Contents Tracing Model to check whether the scrapped resource is changed or not in the future. Open Resource Pool allows inserting text, images and videos by searching multimedia, and stores metadata for the follow-up management. We made the system to determine the change of the resource using the metadata stored in the tracking system. Through this research, we confirmed that it is possible to publish textbooks by utilizing a variety of open resources on the web and revise the book by tracing the scrapped resources.
