  • This study is to investigates a development of multimedia contents for the web-based education system. With the comming new millenieum, we have a lot of experience in pluralistic society. especially we are affected by multimedia data with information and knowledge-based society, and the development of information technology, that is we are a lot influenced by multimedia data. This study is to explore multimedia contents which have still and dynamic. With this discussed, teaching and learning from multimedia contents makes learners construct meaning knowledge through the seeing and hearing, interactive communication. thus we need to include the multimedia education in a curriculum.

  • Robot control system considers various requirements. Firstly, it needs adaptation for unpredictable and dynamic environment. Secondly, it needs way to make do not injurious action to human because live with a person. Thirdly, it needs processing about aim of robots. In this paper proposed that these requirements effective robot control architecture. Robot control architecture can divide Deliberative, Reactive, Hybrid. Recently, robot control architecture that come Deliberative and use hybrid architecture that apply advantage of Reactive architecture is studied much. Hybrid control purpose to combine the real-time response of Reactive with the rationality of Deliberative. Our purpose is enhancement of hybrid architecture that is studied in these days. Proposed architecture that applied human's nervous system can reduce relativity between each module of existent architecture and drive response speed guarantee and safe robot action.

  • In this paper, we developed a file system architecture for portable multimedia devices. To enhance user convenience, the information about the stored files should be easily retrieved and organized. We defined NMD (Networked MetaData), which can organize the files in networked fashion by attaching user-defined attributes and relation between files. The NMD is stored in flash memory to utilize its nonvolatile property and low-power consumption, while multimedia files are stored in hard disk, an inexpensive mass storage. The experimental implementation showed that this architecture was able to save about 10% power compared to the hard disk NMD-store.

  • As multimedia technology has rapidly grown recently, many researches to process multimedia data efficiently using general-purpose processors have been studied. In this paper, we proposed multimedia instructions which can process multimedia data effectively, and suggested a processor architecture for those instructions. The processor was described with Verilog-HDL in the behavioral level and simulated with CADENCE$^{TM}$ tool. Proposed multimedia instructions are total 48 instructions which can be classified into 7 groups. Multimedia data have 64-bit format and are processed as parallel subwords of 8-bit 8 bytes, 16-bit 4 half words or 32-bit 2 words. Modeled processor is developed based on the Integer Unit of SPARC V.9. It has five-stage pipeline RISC architecture with Harvard principle.e.

  • For the low-power design of the mobile multimedia system architecture, this paper modeling the mobile multimedia system and analysis the power consumption profile about the whole communication environment. The mobile system model consist of air interface, RIP front-end, base-band processing module and human interface. For the result of power consumption profile analysis, the power consumption of multimedia processing is above 60% compare to the whole power consumption in mobile multimedia system. To minimize the power consumption in processing module which consumes the large power, this paper proposed the Microscopic DVS technique which applies the optimum voltage for the each multimedia frame. For the simulation result, proposed power minimization technique reduce the power consumption about 30%.

  • Innovation on digital compression technology, high speed networking technology, digital broadcasting technology and distributed processing technology provides new interactive multimedia service that integrates telecommunication, broadcasting, and computer application. To meet the new trends, we focus our research direction to integrate the telecommunication services and the broadcasting services. For this purpose, we designed and implemented an interactive multimedia service platform based on the DAVIC specification. Our research results in the development of integrated interactive services and its experience will be feedback to the field trial service that will be launched from next year. In this paper, we will describe the overall architecture and system implementation results of the interactive multimedia service platform.

  • This paper propose a hardware architecure of multimediasysgem for integrated processing of the multimedia data such as audio and video, and describes on the design and implementation of multimedia integrated processing Unit. The unit comprises most commonly needed multimedia processing function for computer-based video conference: audio-visual datacapture, playback, compression, decompression as well as interleaving/disinterleaving of compressed audio-visual data. The proposed architecture minimizes the CPU overhead that might be caused by multimedia data processing and assures the fluent data flow among system components. Also, this unit is tested and analyzed under the computer-based video conference to confirm the multimedia unit of proposed architecture using communication protocol and application software through Ethernet and FDDI (Fiber Distributed Data Interface) networks.

  • 오늘날의 컴퓨팅 환경은 통신 네트워크의 복잡성과 다양한 멀티미디어 서비스 처리를 위해 객체지향 기술을 분산 시스템에 도입하고 통신망을 소프트웨어 계층적 모델로 구조화한 개방형 정보 통신망 구조 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 논문은 분산환경에서 멀티미디어 스트림 데이타를 전송하기 위한 아키텍쳐에 관한 모델의 설계 및 구현에 관한 것으로 분산 환경에서 멀티미디어 스트림 데이타를 효율적으로 전송할 수 있는 구조를 제시하고 있다. 설계한 구조는 Point-to-Point와 멀티캐스트를 지원하며 컴퓨터 통신망에서 멀티캐스트 연결을 효율적으로 관리하고 추후 기능 확장 및 기능 변경이 용이하도록 모듈화하고 유연성을 가지는 연결 관리 구조를 설계하고 구현하였다. 신호기능은 CORBA(Common Object Request Broker Architecture)의 ORB를 이용하여 실현하였으며, 데이타 전송 기능은 TCP/IP연결을 이용하였다. 이렇게 신호처리 부분과 데이타 전송 부분을 독립적으로 만들어서 하부망 기술에 독립적인 연결 관리 구조를 채택하고 있으므로 향후 다른 환경에서도 신호처리 부분을 그대로 적용할 수 있다. 분산 객체 개념을 적용하여 연결 관리 기능을 분산 객체화 하였으며 각 분산 객체간 인터페이스를 OMG(Object Management Group) IDL(Interface Definition Language)로 정의함으로써 유연성을 갖도록 하였다.AbstractThis paper proposes communication service architecture to support dynamic communication configuration and multiple connection management which are required to handle a variety of multimedia multicast application. Our communication service architecture was designed to fulfil the objectives as the following:- To build a common networking system for various multimedia multicast services- To build a platform for rapid service development and provisioning- To provide service networking independent on transport network technologiesWe implemented communication service architecture based on Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) for multimedia multicast applications. Our communication service architecture is distributed and object-oriented for extensibility and easy modification. The interfaces between the distributed objects are specified in (Object Management Group) OMGs Interface Definition Language.

  • MQTT is a lightweight messaging protocol that can be used for low power IoT devices. The MQTT basically uses single MQTT broker to indirectly share message information between publishers and subscribers. This approach has a weakness in regard to traffic overflow, connection fault, security, etc. In this paper, we propose a distributed MQTT broker architecture that solves the problems in single MQTT broker structure. The distributed MQTT broker architecture is expected to support new application services that cannot be supported by a conventional MQTT architecture. We have designed and implemented a distributed MQTT broker architecture based on the RPL protocol that has been widely used for IoT network. The experiment results show that the proposed MQTT broker architecture represents better publishing/subscribing latency and network stability than the conventional MQTT broker architecture.

  • This paper presents the pipeline architecture for the low and column address generator of 2D DCT/IDCT(Discrete Cosine Transform/Inverse Discrete Cosine Transform). For the real time process of image data, it is required that high speed operation and small size hardware In the proposed architecture, the area of hardware is reduced by using the DA(distributed arithmetic) method and applying the concepts of pipeline on the parallel architecture. As a results, the designed pipeline of the low and column address generator for 2D DCT/IDCT architecture is implemented with an efficiency and high speed compared as the non-pipeline architecture. And the operation speed is improved about 50% up. The design for the proposed pipeline architecture of DCT/IDCT is coded using VHDL.
