A Study on Nursing Students' Multicultural Experience and Multicultural Efficacy on Multicultural Acceptance (간호대학생의 다문화 경험과 다문화 효능감이 다문화 수용성에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study is a research study to investigate the effects of multicultural experience, perception, and multicultural efficacy on nursing students' multicultural acceptance. Method: The relationship between variables was analyzed using SPSS/WIN 25 program by Pearson's correlation coefficient, and the effect of multicultural experience and perception and multicultural efficacy on multicultural acceptance was analyzed by multiple regression analysis. Results: TVariables affecting multicultural acceptance were multicultural awareness (β=0.30, p<001) and multicultural efficacy (β=0.49, p<.001), and multicultural efficacy had a significant effect on multicultural acceptance. In the results of the regression model, among the variables of multicultural awareness and multicultural efficacy, the multicultural efficacy variable had a greater effect on multicultural acceptance, and both variables had a positive effect on multicultural acceptance. The explanatory power of the regression model for multicultural acceptance was 57.5% (F=59.33, p<.001). Conclusion: Factors affecting multicultural acceptance of nursing students are multicultural awareness and efficacy. Support should be provided to provide opportunities to broaden acceptance.

The Impact of Awareness of Multiculture on Efficacy of Multiculture in Pre-service Secondary Teachers (예비 중등교사의 다문화 인식이 다문화 효능감에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this research is to find the impact of multicultural awareness of pre-service secondary teachers on multicultural efficacy. Specific content of the study for achieving this purpose is as follows: First, the correlation between multicultural awareness of pre-service secondary teachers and multicultural efficacy was analyzed. Second, the effect relation between multicultural awareness of pre-service secondary teachers and multicultural efficacy was examined. As part of quantitative research, the method of study was a survey targeting 234 pre-service Secondary teachers who were sophomores, juniors and seniors at D University, P University and S University located in Busan. The study results earned from this process are as below: First, statistically significantly high positive correlation existed between multicultural awareness of pre-service secondary teachers and multicultural efficacy. The areas of acceptance, openness and respect, which are the sub-scale of multicultural awareness of pre-service secondary teachers, showed high positive correlations with all sub-scale of multicultural efficacy including general efficacy, efficacy in instructional function, efficacy in caring perspectives and efficacy in helping multicultural families. Second, the sub-scale of multicultural awareness that significantly affected general efficacy in the sub-scale of multicultural efficacy of pre-service secondary teachers was acceptance and respect. The sub-scale of multicultural awareness that significantly affected efficacy in instructional function was acceptance. The sub-scale of multicultural awareness that significantly affected efficacy in caring perspectives was acceptance and respect. The sub-scale of multicultural awareness that significantly affected efficacy in helping multicultural families was respect. It showed that openness in the sub-scale of multicultural awareness did not affect multicultural efficacy much.

Development of a Multicultural Education Program for Nursing Students and Evaluation of its Effects on Multicultural Sensitivity and Efficacy (간호대학생을 위한 다문화 교육 프로그램 개발 및 다문화 감수성, 다문화 효능감에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a multicultural education program for nursing students and to examine its effects on multicultural sensitivity and efficacy. Methods: A research design for this study was a non-equivalent control group, non-synchronized pre-post test. The experimental group (n=34) participated in a 13-week multicultural education program while the control group (n=35) attended regular classes having no relation with multiculture for the same period as that of the experimental group. Multicultural sensitivity and efficacy were measured before and after the program. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires and analyzed using the PASW 18.0 program. Results: Total scores for multicultural sensitivity and efficacy were significantly increased in the experimental group compared with the control group after the program. The subcategories of multicultural sensitivity; 'respect for cultural differences', 'interaction enjoyment' and multicultural efficacy; 'general functions', 'considering multicultural families' were increased respectively, whereas others were not changed. Conclusion: Based on these results, it can be suggested that a 13-week multicultural education program is effective for improving nursing students' level of multicultural sensitivity and efficacy.

The Effects of Multicultural Openness, Preoccupation, Multicultural Acceptability on Multicultural Efficacy of nursing students (간호대학생의 다문화 개방성, 고정관념, 다문화 수용성이 다문화 효능감에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore degree of multicultural openness, preoccupation, multicultural acceptability, and multicultural efficacy, the factors influencing of multicultural efficacy of nursing students and to provide the basic data to increased multicultural efficacy. This research involved 299 nursing students in B and Y city. Data were collected from May 8, 2017 to 28. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. In results of the study, multiculture efficacy appeared as $3.92{\pm}0.54$. There were significant difference in multicultural efficacy with age, experience of class with multicultural students, experience of other languages class, foreign friends. There were positive correlation between multicultural efficacy and multicultural openness(r=.396, p<.001), between multicultural efficacy and multicultural acceptability(r=.471, p<.001), negative correlation between multicultural efficacy and preoccupation (r=-.464, p<.001). Regression analysis showed 36.1% of variance in nursing students multicultural efficacy can by age, foreign friends, preoccupation, multicultural acceptability. Through this research requires the fellow study to determine the various factors affecting multicultural efficacy of nursing students. And it is necessary to development education and program that can enhance multicultural efficacy is required.

A Study on Factors Affecting Multicultural Efficacy of Early Childhood Teachers (유아교사들의 다문화효능감에 영향을 미치는 요인 연구)

  • The purpose of this stud is to find out what factors that multicultural awareness and multicultural attitude of early childhood teachers affect multicultural efficacy are. In order to achieve this research purpose, the survey was carried out by using questionnaires targeting 394 early childhood teachers working in Early Childhood Educational Institutions located in I city. The response results are as follows: First, multicultural awareness, multicultural attitude, multicultural efficacy of early childhood teachers did not show any difference by workplace. Second, it turned out that there is a significant correlation between multicultural awareness, multicultural efficacy of early childhood teachers. Third, it turned out that multicultural awareness and multicultural attitude of early childhood teachers have a positive influence on multicultural efficacy. In view of the results of this study, multicultural efficacy can be improved when awareness and attitude of early childhood teachers on multicultural education are changed so it is thought that various studies that can continuously conduct multicultural education training programs etc. for early childhood teachers should be conducted.

The Effect of Multicultural Family's Functions on the Social Competence of Multicultural Children -Focusing on the Mediating Effect of Multicultural Family Mothers' Parental Efficacy- (다문화가정의 가족기능이 다문화아동의 사회적 능력에 미치는 영향 -다문화가정 어머니의 양육효능감의 매개효과 검증-)

  • This study is designed to verify structural relations between multicultural family's functions, multicultural family mothers' parental efficacy, and multicultural family children's social competence with the subjects of multicultural family mothers and children. To attain the goal, the researcher collected data through a survey with a self-administered questionnaire conducted to multicultural family mothers and multicultural center workers taking care of multicultural children and utilized 156 sheets for final analysis. According to the study results, multicultural family's functions exert positive effect on multicultural family mothers' parental efficacy, and multicultural family mothers' parental efficacy indicates positive effect on multicultural children's social competence. Also, multicultural family mothers' parental efficacy has completely mediating effect in the relations between multicultural family's functions and multicultural children's social competence. Based on these study results, the researcher suggests ways to intervene with multicultural family mothers and multicultural family in order to help multicultural children grow and develop soundly.

Significant Variables Influencing the Self-Efficacy of Middle School Students of Multicultural Families (다문화가정 중학생 자녀의 자기효능감에 영향을 미치는 요인 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the influences of parental attitude, parenting attitudes, family function and peer attachment on the self-efficacy of middle school students in multicultural families. In particular, peer attachment was used as a mediator to determine the effects of self-efficacy. 302 multicultural family adolescents who enrolled in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do middle schools were surveyed. In order to measure the variables, this study used such scales as parenting attitude scale, family function scale, peer attachment scale and self efficacy scale. The results were analyzed by the PASW 18.0 program. The findings of the study led to the following conclusions; First, it has shown that peer attachment was the only variable that had significant differences by sex in middle school students of multicultural families. Second, the most influential variables of self-efficacy of middle school students in multicultural families was peer attachment among parenting attitude, family function and peer attachment. Third, there was a mediating effect of peer attachment among parenting attitude, family function and self-efficacy for adolescents of multicultural families. The notable distinction of this study was to find that peer attachment variable is the most important factor of self-efficacy. Considering the results in this study, aggressive intervention is necessary in order to improve the self-efficacy of middle school students in multicultural families.

A Study on the Relationship between Multicultural Awareness and Multicultural Efficacy in Elementary School Students (초등학생의 다문화인식과 다문화효능감과의 관계 연구)

  • The purposes of the study are to understand how multicultural awareness and multicultural efficacy is different and to investigate the factors of multicural awareness affecting the multicultural efficacy. To achieve the goals, the study conducted surveys to examine an interrelation of multicural awareness and efficacy on 329 elementary school students in North Jeolla Province with questionnaires. First, the results showed significant differences in the multicultural awareness and efficacy based on all the ground factors. Second, it was found that elementary school students had significant relations in multicultural awareness and efficacy. Third, the multicultural awareness among elementary school students significantly affected their multicultural efficacy. The study suggests that sustaining multicultural education shall be implemented for elementary school students to have right and positive minds and various studies shall be conducted to nurture values in their lives to live together.

A Study on Multicultural Family Visiting Instructors' Multicultural Efficacy and Job Satisfaction (다문화가족 방문교육지도사의 다문화 효능감과 직무만족도에 관한 연구)

  • This study examined the multicultural efficacy and job satisfaction of multicultural family visiting instructors. The subjects were 750 visiting instructors from 140 multicultural family support centers in Seoul, 6 metropolitan cities, 9 provinces, and other cities and counties. Data were analyzed through frequency, percentages, Pearson's correlations, One-way ANOVA, Scheff$\acute{e}$ post-hoc test, independent t-test, and stepwise multi-regression using PASW 18.0. The findings are as follows. First, there were statistically significant differences in all subscales of multicultural efficacy according to the teaching experiences of the multicultural family visiting instructors. On the other hand, there was a statistically significant difference only in trust in the relationships with multicultural families according to the teaching experiences of the multicultural family visiting instructors. Meanwhile, the independent t-test showed that there was a significant difference only in satisfaction regarding treatment and salary according to the assigned work. Second, the stepwise multi-regression models revealed that three subscales (job performance, trust in the relationships with the multicultural families, job aptitude) of job satisfaction were influenced by multicultural efficacy according to both the teaching experiences and assigned work, but this was no the case for satisfaction about treatment and salary. Regardles of teaching experience or assigned work, teaching efficacy in multicultural efficacy affected all subscales of job satisfaction except for satisfaction about treatment and salary. The implications for future studies are also discussed.

Influence of Bias and Multicultural Attitude on Multicultural Efficacy in Elementary Students (초등학생의 편견과 다문화적태도가 다문화효능감에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of bias and the multicultural attitude of elementary schoolchildren on the multicultural efficacy and to seek for the right direction of multicultural education in elementary school. To attain this purpose, this study asked 416 elementary schoolchildren to questions in Jeonbuk Province. The results are as follows. First, there is a significant difference on bias, multicultural attitude, and efficacy to gender and grade. Second, there is a meaningful correlation among bias, multicultural attitude, and multicultural efficacy. Third, the elementary schoolchildren's bias has a significant influence on the multicultural attitude and efficacy. Fourth, the elementary schoolchildren's multicultural attitude exercises a meaningful effect on the multicultural efficacy. According to this survey, a variety of multicultural programs for the elementary schoolchildren are needed to develop and apply in substance at the level of their eyes. In addition to that, a diversity of studies are needed constantly for making the elementary schoolchildren get some positive understanding on various cultures.
