  • PoC (Push-to-Talk over Cellular) provides one-to-one as well as one-to-many communications with VoIP technology based on SIP over cellular networks. According to above property, PoC is considered as perscrptive technology for public protection for disaster relief networks. For this networks, group communication is the essential function. However, since current standardization process takes into general scenarios account without any consideration for mentioned networks, it have some problems in the point of adaptability. To solve above problem, in this paper, we propose how to reduce the overhead on the PoC server to reduce the transmission delay. Simulation results are shown to evaluate the improved performance.

  • The P2P file sharing system sends the results to users by searching the files in the shared folders. In the process of it, the problem is that the transferred information includes the pathname and file information and it can be revealed who searches which files. In related to this problem, anonymous file sharing P2P protocol has been an active research area where a number of works have been produced. However, the previous studies still have a few of weakness. Therefore, We propose two anonymous P2P file sharing protocols based on the decentralized and unstructured Random Walk. The first scheme uses the dynamic onion routing where the requester can receive the wanted file without knowing other peers' IDs. The second scheme uses the IP multicast method which lowers the computational overhead. Both of them are more suited for the dynamic P2P system.

  • In order to get a desired service in such environments, we need a service discovery method for discovering a device providing that service. In this paper, we propose a service discovery protocol which is based on DHTs (Distributed Hash Tables) to solve these problems. Our protocol is scalable since it does not require a central lookup server and does not rely on multicast or flooding. Simulation results show that our protocol is scalable and outperforms existing service discovery protocols.

  • This paper presents a multimedia streaming platform for efficiently transmitting MPEG-4 content over IP networks. The platform includes an MPEG-4 compliant streaming server and client, supporting object-based representation of multimedia scenes, interactivity, and advanced encoding profiles defined by the ISO standard. For scalability purposes, we employ an application-layer multicast scheme for media transmission using overlay networks. The overlay network, governed by the central entity of the network distribution manager, is dynamically deployed according to a set of pre-defined criteria. The overlay network supports both broadcast delivery and video-on-demand content. The multimedia streaming platform is standards-compliant and utilizes widespread multimedia protocols such as MPEG-4, real-time transport protocol, real-time transport control protocol, and real-time streaming protocol. The design of the overlay network was architected with the goal of transparency to both the streaming server and the client. As a result, many commercial implementations that use industry-standard protocols can be plugged into the architecture relatively painlessly and can enjoy the benefits of the platform.

  • Recent advances in forward error correction (FEC) coding techniques were focused on addressing the challenges of multicast and broadcast delivery. However, FEC approaches can also be used for unicast content delivery in order to solve transmission control protocol issues found in wireless networks. In this paper, we exploit the error resilient properties of Raptor codes by proposing Raptor-based content delivery protocol (RCDP) - a novel solution for reliable and bidirectional unicast communication in lossy links that can improve content delivery in situations where the wireless network is the bottleneck. RCDP has been designed, validated, optimized, and its performance has been analyzed in terms of throughput and resource efficiency. Experimental results show that RCDP is a highly efficient solution for environments characterized by high delays and packet losses making it very suitable for intelligent transport system oriented applications since it achieves significant performance improvements when compared to traditional transport layer protocols.

  • Password-based authenticated group key exchange protocols provide a group of user, communicating over a public(insecure) channel and holding a common human-memorable password, with a session key to be used to construct secure multicast sessions for data integrity and confidentiality. In this paper, we present a password-based authenticated group key exchange protocol and prove the security in the random oracle model and the ideal cipher model under the intractability of the decisional Diffie-Hellman(DH) problem and computational DH problem. The protocol is scalable, i.e. constant round and with O(1) exponentiations per user, and provides forward secrecy.

  • 실시간 멀티미디어 응용의 등장으로 멀티캐스트와 QoS(Quality of Service)필수적인 망 서비스가 부각되고 있다 이에 ATM 기반의 인터넷에서 IP멀티캐스트의 효율적인 처리를 위하여 MARS(Multicast Address Resolution Server)가 제안되었고, 기존의 최선 서비스 기반의 인터넷에서 QoS(Quality of Service)를 지우너하기위하여 RSVP(Resource Reservation Protocol)가 제안되었다.

  • Scalable video coding (SVC) has been standardized as an extension of the H.264/AVC standard. This paper proposes a practical real-time transport protocol (RTP) packetization scheme to transport SVC video over IP networks. In combined scalability of SVC, a coded picture of a base or scalable enhancement layer is produced as one or more video layers consisting of network abstraction layer (NAL) units. The SVC NAL unit header contains a (DID, TID, QID) field to identify the association of each SVC NAL unit with its scalable enhancement layer without parsing the payload part of the SVC NAL unit. In this paper, we utilize the (DID, TID, QID) information to derive hierarchical spatio-temporal relationship of the SVC NAL units. Based on the derivation using the (DID, TID, QID) field, we propose a practical RTP packetization scheme for generating single RTP sessions in unicast and multicast transport of SVC video. The experimental results indicate that the proposed packetization scheme can be efficiently applied to transport SVC video over IP networks with little induced delay, jitter, and computational load.

  • To provide effective communication in the wireless mesh network (WMN), several algorithms have been proposed. Since the possibilities of numerous failures always exist during communication, resiliency has been proven to be an important aspect for WMN to recover from these failures. In general, resiliency is the diligence of the reliability and availability in network. Several types of resiliency based routing algorithms have been proposed (i.e., Resilient Multicast, ROMER, etc.). Resilient Multicast establishes a two-node disjoint path and ROMER uses a credit-based approach to provide resiliency in the network. However, these proposed approaches have some disadvantages in terms of network throughput and network congestion. Previously, the buffer based routing (BBR) approach has been proposed to overcome these disadvantages. We proved earlier that BBR is more efficient in regards to w.r.t throughput, network performance, and reliability. In this paper, we consider the node/link failure issues and analogous performance of BBR. For these items we have proposed a resilient packet transmission (RPT) algorithm as a remedy for BBR during these types of failures. We also share the comparative performance analysis of previous approaches as compared to our proposed approach. Network throughput, network congestion, and resiliency against node/link failure are particular performance metrics that are examined over different sized WMNs.

  • EPONs are a low cost, high speed solution to the bottleneck problem of broadband access networks. To support point-to-point and shared LAN emulation, EPONs use the multi-point control protocol (MPCP), which uses logical link identification (LLID) for frame tagging and filtering between the OLT and ONUs. In this paper, ONU-based multicast or multiple shared LAN emulation is used for IPTV channel package delivery services. Using ONU-based VLAN services, EPONs can support separate and secure connections between providers and subscribers in a simple manner. Also, IPTV channel packages can be delivered through EPONs by implementing ONU-based VLAN and IGMP snooping mechanisms. By showing fast channel zapping time of proposed architecture, I show that EPONs is suitable for IPTV channel package delivery service.
