  • In this paper, a microstrip linear tapered slot antenna is designed. A tapered slot antenna(TSA) has many advantages such as low profile, low weight, easy fabrication, and compatibility with monolithic microwave integrated circuits(MMIC). In addition, it has demonstrated multi octave bandwidth, moderately high gain, and symmetrical E- and H-plane beam patterns. A feed network is implemented with transition between a microstrip and a slot line for the microstrip linear tapered slot antenna. The transition is consist of two sides. One side has a microstrip line, the other side has a slot line. The dimensions of the microstrip and slot line are ${\lambda}_m/4$ and ${\lambda}_s/4$ at the center of the cross section of the microstrip and slot line. In order to get broad bandwidth antenna characteristics, the tapered length is chosen as $4{\lambda}_o$ and termination width is chosen as $1.75{\lambda}_o$. Experimental results show that the microstrip tapered slot antenna has symmetrical E- and H-plane beam patterns with around 5GHz of bandwidth at center frequency of 5.0GHz.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate feeding value of berseem and lucerne silage as a replacement for conventional fodder (berseem fodder) in lactating Nili buffaloes. Fifteen early lactating multi-parous Nili buffaloes, five buffaloes in each group were allotted three experimental diets. Berseem and lucerne fodders were ensiled at 30% DM (wheat straw was used to adjust the DM of fodders) with molasses (at the rate of 2% of fodder DM) in two bunker silos for 30 days. The diets contained 75% DM from berseem fodder (BF), 75% DM from berseem silage (BS) and 75% DM from lucerne silage (LS). Each diet contained 25% concentrate DM. Diets were mixed daily and fed twice a day at ad libitum intakes. Dry matter intake (DMI) was significantly higher (13.8 kg/d) in buffaloes fed BF diet than those fed LS (12.5 kg/d) and BS (11.9 kg/day) diets. The differences in digestible DMI and DMI as percent body weight were significant between fodder and silage based diets but non-significant when BS and LS were compared. Lower DMI with silage-based diets was probably because of low silage pH. Intake of NDF (NDFI) was higher (5.68 kg/d) in buffaloes fed BF diet followed by those fed LS (5.50 kg/d) and BS (5.00 kg/d) diets. The difference was significant (p<0.05) across fodder and silage based diets but NDFI was non-significant across both silage-based diets. The apparent DM digestibility was significantly different (p<0.05) between fodder and silage-based diets but was non-significant between LS and BS diets. Four percent fat corrected milk yield was significantly different (p<0.05) between fodder and silage-based diets but was non-significant between LS and BS diets. Higher milk yield with fodder based diet was because of more digestible nutrient intake (Table 3) compared with silage based diets. Milk CP, TP and NPN and SNF did not show any treatment effects. The present results indicated that the berseem and lucerne fodder ensiled at 30% DM level with 2% molasses could safely replace (75% DM) the conventional leguminous fodder in the diets of lactating Nili buffaloes.

  • Genetic parameters for birth weights (BWT), calving ease scores observed from calves born by heifers (CEH), and calving ease scores observed from calves born by cows (CEC) were estimated using Bayesian methodology with Gibbs sampling in different threshold animal models. Data consisted of 77,458 records for calving ease scores and birth weights in Gelbvieh cattle. Gibbs samplers were used to obtain the parameters of interest for the categorical traits in two univariate threshold animal models, a bivariate threshold animal model, and a three-trait linear-threshold animal model. Samples of heritabilities and genetic correlations were calculated from the posterior means of dispersion parameters. In a univariate threshold animal model with CEH (model 1), the posterior means of heritabilities for calving ease was 0.35 for direct genetic effects and 0.18 for maternal genetic effects. In the other univariate threshold model with CEC (model 2), the posterior means of heritabilities of CEC was 0.28 for direct genetic effects and 0.18 for maternal genetic effects. In a bivariate threshold model with CEH and CEC (model 3), heritability estimates were similar to those in unvariate threshold models. In this model, genetic correlation between heifer calving ease and cow calving ease was 0.89 and 0.87 for direct genetic effect and maternal genetic effects, respectively. In a three-trait animal model, which contained two categorical traits (CEH and CEC) and one continuous trait (BWT) (model 4), heritability estimates of CEH and CEC for direct (maternal) genetic effects were 0.40 (0.23) and 0.23 (0.13), respectively. In this model, genetic correlation estimates between CEH and CEC were 0.89 and 0.66 for direct genetic effects and maternal effects, respectively. These estimates were greater than estimates between BWT and CEH (0.82 and 0.34) or BWT and CEC (0.85 and 0.26). This result indicates that CEH and CEC should be high correlated rather than estimates between calving ease and birth weight. Genetic correlation estimates between direct genetic effects and maternal effects were -0.29, -0.31 and 0.15 for BWT, CEH and CEC, respectively. Correlation for permanent environmental effects between BWT and CEC was -0.83 in model 4. This study can provide genetic evaluation for calving ease with other continuous traits jointly with assuming that calving ease from first calving was a same trait to calving ease from later parities calving. Further researches for reliability of dispersion parameters would be needed even if the more correlated traits would be concerned in the model, the higher reliability could be obtained, especially on threshold model with property that categorical traits have little information.

  • Loop invariant code motion (LICM) optimization includes relatively heavy code analyses, thus being not readily applicable to Java Just-In-Time (JIT) compilation where the JIT compilation time is part of the whole running time. 'Classical' LICM optimization first analyzes the code and constructs both the def-use chains and the use-def chains. which are then used for performing code motions. This paper proposes a light-weight LICM algorithm, which requires only the def-use chains of loop invariant code (without use-def chains) by exploiting the fact that the Java virtual machine is based on a stack machine, hence generating code with simpler patterns. We also propose two techniques that allow more code motions than classical LICM techniques. First, unlike previous JIT techniques that uses LICM only in single-path loops for simplicity, we apply LICM to multi-path loops (natural loops) safely for partially redundant code. Secondly, we move loop-invariant, partially-redundant null pointer check code via predication support in Itanium. The proposed techniques were implemented in a JIT compiler for Itanium processor on ORP (Open Runtime Platform) Java virtual machine of Intel. On SPECjvrn98 benchmarks, the proposed technique increases the JIT compilation overhead by the geometric mean of 1.3%, yet it improves the total running time by the geometric mean of 2.2%.

  • Objectives: This experiment was conducted to examine the toxicity of Water soluble Carthmi-Flos herbal acupuncture (WCF) by administering a single intramuscular dose of WCF in 6-week-old, male and female Sprague-Dawley rats and to find the lethality dose for WCF. Methods: The experiment was conducted at Biotoxtech according to Good Laboratory Practices under a request by the Korean Pharmacopuncture Institute. This experiment was performed based on the testing standards of "Toxicity Test Standards for Drugs" by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. Subjects were divided into 4 groups: 1 control group in which normal saline was administered and 3 test groups in which 0.1, 0.5 or 1.0 mL of WCF was administered; a single intramuscular dose was injected into 5 males and 5 females in each group. General symptoms and body weights were observed/measured for 14 days after injection. At the end of the observation period, hematological and clinical chemistry tests were performed, followed by necropsy and histopathological examinations of the injected sections. Results: No mortalities were observed in any group. Also, symptoms, body weight, hematology, clinical chemistry and necropsy were not affected. However, histopathological examination of the injected part in one female in the 1.0-mL group showed infiltration of mononuclear cells and a multi-nucleated giant cell around eosinophilic material. Conclusion: Administration of single intramuscular doses of WCF in 3 groups of rats showed that the approximate lethal dose of WCF for all rats was in excess of 1.0 mL, as no mortalities were observed for injections up to and including 1.0 mL.

  • Unlike water or air quality standards that have been established by legislation using potential human health impact as the primary criterion, soil quality depends on the soils primary function and its relevant environmental factors, which is much more site- and soil specific. A properly characterized soil quality assessment system should serve as an indicator of the soil capacity to produce safe and nutritious food, to enhance human and animal health, and to overcome degrative processes. For our proposed example, a high quality soil with regard to maintaining an adequate soil productivity as a food production resources must accommodate soil and water properties, food chain, sustainability and utilization, environment, and profitability, that (i) facilitate water transfer and absorption, (ii) sustain plant growth, (iii) resist physical degradation of soil, (iv) produce a safe food resources, (v) cost-effective agricultural management. Possible soil quality indicators are identified at several levels within the framework for each of these functions. Each indicator is assigned a priority or weight that reflects its relative importance using a multi-objective approach based on principles of systems to be considered. To do this, individual scoring system is differentiated by the several levels from low to very high category or point scoring ranging from 0 to 10, And then weights are multiplied and products are summed to provide an overall soil quality rating based on several physical and chemical indicators. Tlne framework and procedure in developing the soil quality assessment are determined by using information collected from an alternative and conventional farm practices in the regions. The use of an expanded framework for assessing effects of other processes, management practices, or policy issues on soil quality is also considered. To develop one possible form for a soil quality index, we should permit coupling the soil characteristics with assessment system based on soil properties and incoming and resident chemicals. The purpose of this paper is to discuss approaches to defining and assessing soil quality and to suggest the factors to be considered.

  • Carbon nanotubes (CNT) are considered as one of ideal nano-fillers in the field of composites with their excellent electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties. Therefore CNT composites are increasingly used in fabricating conductive materials, structural materials with high strength and low weight, and multifunctional materials. The main problem of the CNT composites is difficulty in the dispersion of CNT in the polymer matrix. In this study multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNT) were pretreated by the physical process utilizing a wrapping method. After the pretreatment polymer/MWNT nanocomposites were prepared by melt processing. The effect of functionalization MWNT by wrapping with styrene acrylonitrile (SAN) on the mechanical and electrical properties of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene resin (ABS)/MWNT composites was studied by comparing the properties of ABS mixed with the neat MWNT. Electrical and mechanical properties of ABS/MWNT nanocomposites were studied as a function of the functionalization and content of MWNT. The tensile strength of the ABS/MWNT nanocomposites increased, but the impact strength decreased. The polymer wrapping in ABS system has little effect on the improvement of electrical properties.

  • In this study, the products of Acanthopanax senticosus fermentation were derived from the mycelia of 2 mushrooms, Ganoderma lucidum and Phellinus linteus, to determine their safety in Sprague-Dawley rats. Rats were orally administered the water extracts of A. senticosus fermentation products with G. lucidum (FM-5111) or P. linteus (FM-5131) at dose levels of 0.5, 1.0, or 2.0 g/kg for the single-dose toxicity test and 0.25, 0.5, or 1.0 g/kg for the repeated-dose toxicity test. There were no significant differences in body weight gain, feed intake, or water consumption between control and FM-5111- or FM-5131-treated rats. Hematological and blood biochemistry analysis revealed that none of the investigated parameters were affected by the A. senticosus fermentation products, and no remarkable lesions were observed upon histopathological analysis. We conclude that the A. senticosus fermentation products obtained from mushroom mycelia are safe for long-term administration and could be considered as multi-functional nutrients for the improvement of liver function and immunity.

  • Digital communication is important for reliability and mobilization of the multi-channel communication systems. Transmitting and receiving data for the mobilization should be possible in anywhere and in anytime. And this system must be designed light weight small size and low power. One are essential technology for implementing the mobile wireless communication system on the age of ubiquotos. Requirements in constructing such communication field are followings. At first data transmitting and receiving should be carried out by a simple command. Second, the device should be designed as hand-hold type and low power consumption. Third, data communication should be reliable. As one of examples, car to car system which is popular in the market is introduced here, All traffic information in highway is transmitted from one car to another by using this system which can prevent possible traffic accident. This paper shows the design of a digital data communication system with CC1020 chip. This CC1020 makes easy frequency selection and easy switch from the transmit mode to the receive mode by simple setting of a memory register in the chip. The transmit power of this system is designed 10dBm and its communication range is about 100m. The power supplied this system is 3V considered as low power. The sleep mode can be easily entered during transmit mode or receive mode. We shows the program algorithm of CC1020 and interface circuit between MCU and CC1020. We shows the Photo of the CC1020 Module and Atmega128 Module.. We analysed the receiver rate with this system.

  • Constructing speaker embeddings in speaker verification is an important issue. In general, a self-attention mechanism has been applied for speaker embedding encoding. Previous studies focused on training the self-attention in a high-level layer, such as the last pooling layer. In this case, the effect of low-level layers is not well represented in the speaker embedding encoding. In this study, we propose Masked Cross Self-Attentive Encoding (MCSAE) using ResNet. It focuses on training the features of both high-level and low-level layers. Based on multi-layer aggregation, the output features of each residual layer are used for the MCSAE. In the MCSAE, the interdependence of each input features is trained by cross self-attention module. A random masking regularization module is also applied to prevent overfitting problem. The MCSAE enhances the weight of frames representing the speaker information. Then, the output features are concatenated and encoded in the speaker embedding. Therefore, a more informative speaker embedding is encoded by using the MCSAE. The experimental results showed an equal error rate of 2.63 % using the VoxCeleb1 evaluation dataset. It improved performance compared with the previous self-attentive encoding and state-of-the-art methods.
