In this paper, a 3D coordinates acquisition method for a mechanical assembly is developed by using multiview X-ray images. The multi-view X-ray images of an object are obtained by a rotary table. From the rotation transformation, it is possible to obtain the 3D coordinates of corresponding edge points on multi-view X-ray images by triangulation. The edge detection algorithm in this paper is based on the attenuation characteristic of the X-ray. The 3D coordinates of the object points are represented on a graphic display, which is used for the inspection of a mechanical assembly.

Multi-view learning considers data from various viewpoints as well as attempts to integrate various information from data. Multi-view learning has been studied recently and has showed superior performance to a model learned from only a single view. With the introduction of deep learning techniques to a multi-view learning approach, it has showed good results in various fields such as image, text, voice, and video. In this study, we introduce how multi-view learning methods solve various problems faced in human behavior recognition, medical areas, information retrieval and facial expression recognition. In addition, we review data integration principles of multi-view learning methods by classifying traditional multi-view learning methods into data integration, classifiers integration, and representation integration. Finally, we examine how CNN, RNN, RBM, Autoencoder, and GAN, which are commonly used among various deep learning methods, are applied to multi-view learning algorithms. We categorize CNN and RNN-based learning methods as supervised learning, and RBM, Autoencoder, and GAN-based learning methods as unsupervised learning.

Due to the recent rise of a need for 3 dimensional geospatial information on urban areas, general interest in aerial multi-view cameras has been on an increase. The conventional geospatial information system depends solely upon vertical images, while the multi-view camera is capable of taking both vertical and oblique images taken from multiple directions, thus making it easier for the user to interpret the object. Through our research we developed a prototype of a multi-view camera system that includes a camera system, GPS/INS, a flight management system, and a control system. We also studied and experimented with the camera viewing angles, the synchronization of image capture, the exposure delay, the data storage that must be considered for the development of the multi-view camera system.

Multi-view video coding is an international encoding standard that attains good performance by fully utilizing temporal and inter-view correlations. However, it suffers from high computational complexity. This paper presents a fast encoder design to reduce the level of complexity. First, when the temporal correlation of a group of pictures is sufficiently strong, macroblock-based inter-view prediction is not employed for the non-anchor pictures of B-views. Second, when the disparity between two adjacent views is above some threshold, frame-based inter-view prediction is disabled. Third, inter-view prediction is not performed on boundary macroblocks in the auxiliary views, because the references for these blocks may not exist in neighboring views. Fourth, finer partitions of inter-view prediction are cancelled for macroblocks in static image areas. Finally, when estimating the disparity of a macroblock, the search range is adjusted according to the mode size distribution of the neighboring view. Compared with reference software, these techniques produce an average time reduction of 83.65%, while the bit-rate increase and peak signal-to-noise ratio loss are less than 0.54% and 0.05dB, respectively.
In this paper, we propose an algorithm that generates multi-view images by grid-mesh based image domain warping using occlusion mask and various image features obtained from the stereoscopic images. In the proposed algorithm, we first extract image saliency map, line segments and disparity saliency map from stereo images and then get them through a process that improves the quality of extracted features. This process is accomplished in two steps. In the first step, reliability of disparity saliency map on object boundary regions is enhanced by using occlusion information. And in the second step, we enhance the quality of image features in terms of temporal consistency by using temporal consistency information for stereo images. With these enhanced features, multi-view images are generated by grid-mesh based image domain warping technique. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm performs better than existing algorithms in terms of visual quality.

In this paper, we propose an efficient multi-view images coding algorithm to find the optimal depth and texture from the set of multi-view images. The proposed algorithm consists of two consecutive steps, i) the depth estraction step, and ii) the texture extraction step, comparedwith the traditional algorithem which finds the depth and texture concurrently. The X-Y plane of the normalized object space is divided into traingular paatches and the Z value of the node is determined in the first step and then the texture of the each patch is extracted in the second step. In the depth extraction step, the depth of the node is determined by applying the block based disparity compensation method to the windowed area centered at the node. In the second step, the texture of the traingular patches is extracted from the multi-view images by applying the affine transformation based disparity compensation method to the traingular pateches with the depth extracted from the first step. Experimental results show that the SNR(Singnal-to- Noise Ratio) of images enconded by our algorithm is better than that of images encoded by the traditional algorithm by the amount about 4dB for for the test sets of multi-view images called dragon, kid, city and santa.
In video compression, Motion Estimation(ME) limits the performance of image quality and generated bit rates. However, it requires much complexity in the encoder part. Multi-view video uses many cameras at different positions. Multi-view video coding needs huge computational complexity in proportion to the number of the cameras. To reduce computational complexity and maintain the image quality, an effective motion estimation method is proposed in this paper. The proposed method exploiting the characteristics of motion vector distribution and the motion of video. The proposed is a kind of a hierarchical search strategy. This strategy consists of multi-grid rhombus pattern, diagonal pattern, rectangle pattern, and refinement pattern. Experiment results show that the complexity reduction of the proposed method over TZ search method and PBS (Pel Block Search) on JMVC (Joint Multiview Video Coding) can be up to 40~75% and 98% respectively while maintaining similar video image quality and generated bit rates.

Along with the development of network transmission technology, the IPTV market is growing in fast pace. Additionally the UHD resolution broadcasting system along with user experience (UX) that provides better service to user has attracted attention recently since there are not enough research has been done with differentiated the UX that can enhance the UX yet. Therefore we proposed a low complexity syntax level image stitching implementation technique that run with multi-view services, which makes possibility to view multiple channel or video contents on the screen at the same time. Simulation results have demonstrated the liability and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm by showing that capability of generating more than 80 frames per second by stitching four Full-HD size videos into UHD frame.

Motion estimation (ME) that limits the performance of image quality and encoding speed has been developed to reduce temporal redundancy in video sequences and plays an important role in digital video compression. But it is computational demanding part of the encoder. Multi-view video is obtained by capturing one three-dimensional scene with many cameras at different positions. ME for Multi-view video requires high computational complexity. To reduce computational complexity and maintain the image quality, a fast motion estimation method is proposed in this paper. The proposed method uses a hierarchical search strategy. This strategy method consists of modified diamond search patten, multi gird diamond search pattern, and raster search pattern. These search patterns place search points symmetrically and evenly that can cover the overall search area not to fall into the local minimum or exploits the characteristics of the distribution of motion vectors to place the search points. Experiment results show that the speedup improvement of the proposed method over TZ search method (JMVC) can be up to 1.2 ~3 times faster while maintaining similar video quality and bit rates.
