Multi-class Variable Demand Network Equilibrium (다계층 가변수요 교통망 균형)

  • This paper studies a multiple user class variable demand user equilibrium and system optimal condition, and then establishes solution algorithms for them. The traffic network equilibrium is accomplished with basis on following assumptions. For considering heterogeneous road user, several user classes have discrete set of VOTs and the travel demand of each user classes varies according to generalized travel cost. this paper specifically investigates following question on multi-class variable demand: Are user equilibrium flows pattern dependent on the unit (time or money) perceived by road user classes? What is system optimal condition according to the unit used in measuring the travel cost or disutility? Finally, using this network equilibrium condition, The traffic assignment algorithm of each equilibrium condition are established.

A MU-MIMO User Scheduling Mechanism based on Active CSI Exchange (능동적 CSI 교환을 기반으로 한 MU-MIMO 유저 스케줄링 기법)

  • User scheduling boosts the Multi-User Multi-Input Multi-Output (MU-MIMO) gain by selecting an optimal set of users to increase the 802.11 Wi-Fi system capacities. Many kinds of user scheduling algorithms, however, fail to realize the advantages of MU-MIMO due to formidable Channel State Information (CSI) overhead. In this paper, we propose a user scheduling method considering such CSI exchange overhead and its MAC protocol, called ACE (Active CSI Exchange based User Scheduling for MU-MIMO Transmission). Unlike most proposals, where user scheduling is performed after an Access Point (AP) receives CSI from all users, ACE determines the best user set during the CSI exchange phase. In particular, the AP broadcasts a channel hint about previously scheduled users, and the remaining users actively send CSI reports according to their Effective Channel Gains (ECGs) calculated from the hint. Through trace-driven MATLAB simulations, we prove that the proposed scheme improves the throughput gain significantly.

Design of Binary Constant Envelope System using the Pre-Coding Scheme in the Multi-User CDMA Communication System (다중 사용자 CDMA 통신 시스템에서 프리코딩 기법을 사용한 2진 정진폭 시스템 설계)

  • In this paper, we newly propose the binary CA-CDMA(constant amplitude CDMA) system using pre-coding method to solve the high PAPR problem caused by multi-user signal transmission in the CDMA system. 4-user CA-CDMA, the basis of proposed binary CA-CDMA system, makes binary output signal for 4 input users. It produces the output of binary(${\pm}$2) amplitude by using a parity signal resulting from the XOR operation of 4 users data. Another sub-channel or more bandwidth is not necessary because it is transmitted together with user data and can be easily recovered in the receiver. The extension of the number of users can be possible by the simple repetition of the basic binary 4-user CA-CDMA. For example, binary 16-user CA-CDMA is made easily by allocating the four 4-user CA-CDMA systems in parallel and leading the four outputs to the fifth 4-user CA-CDMA system as input, because the output signal of each 4-user CA-CDMA is also binary. By the same extension procedure, binary 64 and 256-user CA-CDMA systems can be made with the constant amplitude. As a result, the code rate of this proposed CA-CDMA system is just 1 and binary CA-CDMA does not change the transmission rate with the constant output signal(PAPR = 0 ㏈). Therefore, the power efficiency of the HPA can be maximized without the nonlinear distortion. From the simulation results, it is verified that the conventional CDMA system has multi-level output signal, but the proposed binary CA-CDMA system always produces binary output. And it is also found that the BER of conventional CDMA system is increased by nonlinear HPA, but the BER of proposed binary CA-CDMA system is not changed.

Active Secondary User Selection Algorithm of Opportunistic Spatial Orthogonalization Considering Interference by a Primary User (주 사용자의 간섭을 고려한 Opportunistic Spatial Orthogonalization의 활성 부 사용자 선택 알고리즘)

  • The opportunistic spatial orthogonalization (OSO) scheme, proposed by Cong Shen and Michael P. Fitz, allows the existence of secondary users during the period in which the primary user is occupying all licensed bands. This paper introduces an active secondary user selection algorithm which mitigates the interference from the primary user transmitter to the secondary user receiver based on single-input multi-output system without altering a primary user's transmission strategy. A proposed algorithm guarantees the minimum average throughput of the primary user and overcomes the average sum throughput of a conventional OSO. We have numerically analyzed the average throughput under various constraints.

  • Multi shopping malls provide us new life-style nowadays with the term, malling. Multi shopping malls are consisted of selling space, entertainment space and convenience space so that arrangement and circulation planning of each facilities have large influence to users. Based on this influences, this study aims to provide basic data for multi shopping malls' circulation planning. Therefore, this study selected 6 multi shopping malls in Seoul and conducted survey that satisfaction of circulation planning of multi shopping malls. For user satisfaction investigation, we studied concept of multi shopping mall following Korean building act and selected composition and characteristics of circulation. Also, we classified the malls to size and circulation shapes for comparison of the satisfaction results. Classified types are high-rise and low-rise and they are separated to small size and big size. In addition, classified circulation shapes are categorized to net type, loop type, cyclical loop type and multi type by forms of central space and main stream of the malls.

The Structuring Process of Multi‐Centered Usability Evaluation Method (다자 중심적 사용성 평가 방법의 구조화 과정)

  • In order to minimize a biased view of evaluators in usability test, a multiple evaluation method so called Multi-Centered Usability Evaluation Method(MCUEM) was suggested and structured in this study. To use MCUEM, the existing evaluation methods were re-categorized into 'developer and evaluator-centered', 'evaluator-centered', 'user-centered', 'evaluator and user-centered', and the 'developer, evaluator, and user-centered methods. Furthermore, in order to verify the relevance of MCUEM, the usability of mobile phone was tested in this study. In results, it was found that different evaluation methods generated greatly different results, that showed the risk of using a particular usability method due to different perspectives of evaluators. At the same time, it was found that MCUEM could greatly minimize such biases. Therefore, it was concluded that using MCUEM could help the usability engineer design a test protocol with a minimal risk of bias due to different perspective of evaluators.

  • In Interactive Storytelling, storyline is developed according to the user's interaction. Diffrerent from linear, fixed storytelling, users may select an event or make decisions which affect on the story plotting. Therefore user's feeling of immersion and interest may be greatly enhanced. In this paper, we used markers and multi-touch pad for user's interaction for interactive storytelling. Users could present his/her level of interest and provide feedback through markers and multi-touch pad, through which storyline was differently developed.

  • This paper discusses the interacting mobile robots for tele-operation system using the world wide web. In multi-agent and web-based teleoperation environment the problem of communication delay must be solved for the efficient and robust control of the system. The standard graphic user interface(GUI)is implemented using Java Programing language. The web browser is used to integrate the virtual environment and the standard GUI(Java applet) in a single user interface. Users can access a dedicated WWWserver and download the user interface. Reinforcement learning is applied to indirect control in order to autonomously operate without the need of human intervention. On the Performance of Multi-User 2PPM-TH-UWB SIMO Systems in Multipath Channels

  • In this paper, the performance of ultra-wideband (UWB) single input multiple output (SIMO) systems to achieve high data rate communications is studied in dense multipath environments. The effects of spatial and temporal diversities on the performance of multi-user time-hopping UWB systems using binary pulse position modulation (2PPM) are analyzed. The reduced-complexity Rake receivers based on the selective combining (called SRake) and partial combining (called PRake) are considered. The theoretical and simulation results show that the BER performance of the UWB system can be enhanced as the number of array elements and/or Rake fingers increases. Moreover, we observe that SRake is more effective for the IR-UWB systems to achieve a good BER performance, as compared with PRake.

Terminal-based Dynamic Clustering Algorithm in Multi-Cell Cellular System

  • A terminal-based dynamic clustering algorithm is proposed in a multi-cell scenario, where the user could select the cooperative BSs from the predetermined static base stations (BSs) set based on dynamic channel condition. First, the user transmission rate is derived based on linear precoding and per-cell feedback scheme. Then, the dynamic clustering algorithm can be implemented based on two criteria: (a) the transmission rate should meet the user requirement for quality of service (QoS); (b) the rate increment exceeds the predetermined constant threshold. By adopting random vector quantization (RVQ), the optimized number of cooperative BSs and the corresponding channel conditions are presented respectively. Numerical results are given and show that the performance of the proposed method can improve the system resources utilization effectively.
