  • In this paper, the performance of high data rate-wirelesss personal area network(HDR-WPAN) system is analyzed under multi-path indoor channel. In the analysis, Saleh and Valenzuel channel model is used for the multi-path indoor channel. From the results, HDR-WPAN system has reliability of 10-5 at Eb/No = 18.5dB in multi-path indoor channel. It is a suitable performance for high data rate personal area network applications.

  • In this paper, we have analyzed the performance of MIMO (Multi-Input Multi-Output) underwater acoustic communication by using the acquired data via the experiments in water tank. First of all, in the pursuit of this aim, we have measured the channel transfer characteristics at several transceiver locations. The transmitted signal was modulated by QPSK(Quadrature Phase Shit Keying) and the received signal was recovered through the detector that contains the zero forcing equalizer. A maximum 30~40 ms delay was appeared because of physically closed water tank environment that has the harsh multi-path transmission conditions. In result of experiment, even though the bit error rate showed comparatively large when $2{\times}2$ MIMO system with two transmitters and receivers was considered. However, we confirmed it has approximately 15% enhanced performance compared with SISO (Single-Input Single-Output) system.

  • The performance of underwater wireless communication system is influenced on channel characteristic. Especially, a delay spread cause by reverberation and multi-path happen the ISI (Inter Symbol Interference) and reduces the communication performance. In this paper, we study the application of high speed data transmission in underwater to use the OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) technique for robust the reverberation and multi-path. we confirm the performance of communication in underwater to use the model for actually underwater channel simulation model. As a result, we acquired the BER of modulation techniques. The BER of single carrier is $2{\times}10^{-1}$ and BER of multi carrier is $8{\times}10^{-2}$ in 1000m.

  • We propose an efficient digital IF down converter architecture for dual-mode WCDMA/cdma2000 based on the concept of software defined radio. Multi-rate digital filters and fractional frequency conversion techniques are adopted to implement the front end of a dual-mode receiver for WCDMA and cdma2000. A sub-sampled digital IF stage was proposed to support both WCDMA and cdma2000 while lowering the sampling frequency. Use of a CIC filter and ISOP filter combined with proper arrangement of multi-rate filters and common filter blocks resulted in optimized hardware implementation of the front end block in 292k logic gates.

  • So far, Korean command post vehicles(CPs) have used voice-only radio communication among the mechanized troop units such MBTs and IFVs, etc. But digital data communication technology should be introduced to improve mission success capabilities and accommodate integrated combat capabilities through increasing SA(situation Awareness), or spatiotemporal synchronization of military operation in battle field environment. Therefore, conventional CPs, which have been operated without digital network, urgently needs to mount a battle management system which furnish with tactical information network, considering that korean new MBTs or new IFVs will be fielded soon. This study suggests some performance enhancement method which might be applicable to CPs which have a role of connecting Battalion unit to Brigade C4I system.

  • In this paper an inter-layer protocol, referred to as a Multi-Network Selector (MNS) is proposed for multiband maritime networks. A MNS is located between the data-link layer and the network layer and performs vertical handover when a ship moves another radio network. In order to provide seamless data transfer to different radio networks, the MNS uses received signal strength (RSS) and ship's location information as decision parameters for vertical handover, which can avoid ping-pong effect and reduces handover latency. In addition, we present related issues in order to implement the MNS for a multiband maritime network.

  • In this paper, we investigate the performance of multi-channel cognitive radio networks (CRNs) by taking into consideration the problem of channel assignment and link scheduling. We assume that secondary nodes are equipped with multiple radios and can switch among multiple channels. How to allocate channels to links and how much power used on each channel to avoid mutual interference among secondary links are the key problem for such CRNs. We formulate the problem of channel assignment and link scheduling as a combinatorial optimization problem. Then, we propose a the optimal solution and show that it converges to maximum optimum in some iterations by using numerical results.

  • Outflows are common among local AGNs. Woo et al. (2017) suggested that AGN feedback through outflows is delayed by a dynamical time scale before the suppression of SFR is observationally detected. However, these SFR have large uncertainties because they were estimated by Artificial Neural Network (ANN) method (Ellison et al. 2016). We measured the SFR of 21 far-IR matched sources (z < 0.1) with total IR luminosity from multi-wavelength SED fitting from UV to radio. 15 out of 21 sources were observed with JCMT SCUBA-2 450 and 850um and 4 and 2 sources were matched with archival data of JCMT SCUBA-2 and Herschel SPIRE, respectively. We compared the true SFR by SED fitting with ANN-based one. In addition, we confirmed that sub-mm data are important to determine the SFR with total IR luminosity from SED fitting. Finally, we discuss the significance of true SFR and further the AGN-SF link.
