Estimation of Fractional Vegetation Cover in Sand Dunes Using Multi-spectral Images from Fixed-wing UAV

  • Since the use of UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) is convenient for the acquisition of data on broad or inaccessible regions, it is nowadays used to establish spatial information for various fields, such as the environment, ecosystem, forest, or for military purposes. In this study, the process of estimating FVC (Fractional Vegetation Cover), based on multi-spectral UAV, to overcome the limitations of conventional methods is suggested. Hence, we propose that the FVC map is generated by using multi-spectral imaging. First, two types of result classifications were obtained based on RF (Random Forest) using RGB images and NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) with RGB images. Then, the result map was reclassified into vegetation and non-vegetation. Finally, an FVC map-based RF were generated by using pixel calculation and FVC map-based GI (Gutman and Ignatov) model were indirectly made by fixed parameters. The method of adding NDVI shows a relatively higher accuracy compared to that of adding only RGB, and in particular, the GI model shows a lower RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) with 0.182 than RF. In this regard, the availability of the GI model which uses only the values of NDVI is higher than that of RF whose accuracy varies according to the results of classification. Our results showed that the GI mode ensures the quality of the FVC if the NDVI maintained at a uniform level. This can be easily achieved by using a UAV, which can provide vegetation data to improve the estimation of FVC.

  • The application traffic analysis is getting more and more challenging due to the huge amount of traffic from high-speed network link and variety of applications running on wired and wireless Internet devices. Multi-level combination of various analysis methods is desired to achieve high completeness and accuracy of analysis results for a real-time analysis system, while requires much of processing burden on the contrary. This paper proposes a novel architecture for a real-time traffic analysis system which improves the processing performance on multi-core CPU environment. The main contribution of the proposed architecture is an efficient parallel processing mechanism with multiple threads of various analysis methods. The feasibility of the proposed architecture was proved by implementing and deploying it on our campus network.

  • 최근 활발히 개발 중인 보안운영체제의 핵심인 보안커널(security kernel)은 참조모니터(reference monitor)에서 주체(subject)가 객체(object)에 대한 실행(action) 권한을 판단함으로써 접근 제어를 실행한다. 보안운영체제의 대표적인 접근제어모델에는 다중레벨접근제어(MLS: Multi Level Security)모델과 역할기반접근제어(RBAC: Role Based Access Control) 모델 등이 있다. 리눅스 시스템에서 이러한 접근제어모델을 적용하기 위해서 접근 대상이 되는 객체들의 효과적인 분류가 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 리눅스 환경에서 효과적인 접근제어모델을 적용하기 위하여 객체들을 객체 클래스(class)와 유형(type)을 기준으로 분류 하였다.

  • In this study, researchers classifying the artificial flaws in semiconductor packages are performed by pattern recognition technology. For this purposes, image pattern recognition package including the user made software was developed and total procedure including ultrasonic image acquisition, equalization filtration, binary process, edge detection and classifier design is treated by Backpropagation Neural Network. Specially, it is compared with various weights of Backpropagation Neural Network and it is compared with threshold level of edge detection in preprocessing method fur entrance into Multi-Layer Perceptron(Backpropagation Neural network). Also, the pattern recognition techniques is applied to the classification problem of defects in semiconductor packages as normal, crack, delamination. According to this results, it is possible to acquire the recognition rate of 100% for Backpropagation Neural Network.

A Study on the Prediction of Community Smart Pension Intention Based on Decision Tree Algorithm

  • With the deepening of population aging, pension has become an urgent problem in most countries. Community smart pension can effectively resolve the problem of traditional pension, as well as meet the personalized and multi-level needs of the elderly. To predict the pension intention of the elderly in the community more accurately, this paper uses the decision tree classification method to classify the pension data. After missing value processing, normalization, discretization and data specification, the discretized sample data set is obtained. Then, by comparing the information gain and information gain rate of sample data features, the feature ranking is determined, and the C4.5 decision tree model is established. The model performs well in accuracy, precision, recall, AUC and other indicators under the condition of 10-fold cross-validation, and the precision was 89.5%, which can provide the certain basis for government decision-making.

  • In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) services have become one of the most essential parts to extend human capabilities in various fields such as face recognition for security, weather prediction, and so on. Various learning algorithms for existing AI services are utilized, such as classification, regression, and deep learning, to increase accuracy and efficiency for humans. Nonetheless, these services face many challenges such as fake news spread on social media, stock selection, and volatility delay in stock prediction systems and inaccurate movie-based recommendation systems. In this paper, various algorithms are presented to mitigate these issues in different systems and services. Convolutional neural network algorithms are used for detecting fake news in Korean language with a Word-Embedded model. It is based on k-clique and data mining and increased accuracy in personalized recommendation-based services stock selection and volatility delay in stock prediction. Other algorithms like multi-level fusion processing address problems of lack of real-time database.

  • DNN을 사용하여 객체 인식 과정에서 객체를 잘 분류하기 위해서는 시각적 설명성이 요구된다. 시각적 설명성은 object class에 대한 예측을 pixel-wise attribution으로 표현해 예측 근거를 해석하기 위해 제안되었다, Scale-invariant한 특징을 제공하도록 설계된 pyramidal features 기반 backbone 구조는 object detection 및 classification 등에서 널리 쓰이고 있으며, 이러한 특징을 갖는 feature pyramid를 trainable attention mechanism에 적용하고자 할 때 계산량 및 메모리의 복잡도가 증가하는 문제가 있다. 본 논문에서는 일반적인 FPN에서 객체 인식 성능과 설명성을 높이기 위한 피라미드-주의집중 계층네트워크 (FPN-Attention Layered Network) 방식을 제안하고, 실험적으로 그 특성을 평가하고자 한다. 기존의 FPN만을 사용하였을 때 객체 인식 과정에서 설명성을 향상시키는 방식이 객체 인식에 미치는 정도를 정량적으로 평가하였다. 제안된 모델의 적용을 통해 낮은 computing 오버헤드 수준에서 multi-level feature를 고려한 시각적 설명성을 개선시켜, 결괴적으로 객체 인식 성능을 향상 시킬 수 있음을 실험적으로 확인할 수 있었다.

Performance Assessment of Machine Learning and Deep Learning in Regional Name Identification and Classification in Scientific Documents (머신러닝을 이용한 과학기술 문헌에서의 지역명 식별과 분류방법에 대한 성능 평가)

  • Generative AI has recently been utilized across all fields, achieving expert-level advancements in deep data analysis. However, identifying regional names in scientific literature remains a challenge due to insufficient training data and limited AI application. This study developed a standardized dataset for effectively classifying regional names using address data from Korean institution-affiliated authors listed in the Web of Science. It tested and evaluated the applicability of machine learning and deep learning models in real-world problems. The BERT model showed superior performance, with a precision of 98.41%, recall of 98.2%, and F1 score of 98.31% for metropolitan areas, and a precision of 91.79%, recall of 88.32%, and F1 score of 89.54% for city classifications. These findings offer a valuable data foundation for future research on regional R&D status, researcher mobility, collaboration status, and so on.
