  • In this paper, we introduce the time-domain equalizer in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems using orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) algorithm. Since OFDM system inserts guard intervals, it shows robust performance against multi-path fading. However, in Doppler channel, inter-carrier interference (ICI) occurs because an orthogonality of sub-carriers does not maintain. A least squares (LS) algorithm is common method of time-domain equalizer, but if a channel length is longer, the performance deteriorates by noise. The multi-path fading is a summation of the different delay signal. And that has sparse properties in time-domain. Because the OMP algorithm of the compressive sensing (CS) algorithm restores the channel by choosing the important elements of sparse channel, it can reduce the influence of noise. We simulate the performance of time-domain equalizer in OFDM system with various channel environments using OMP algorithm compared with other equalization method.

  • The signal in wireless multi-path channel is affected by fading and ISI because of high data rate transmission, so the signal has the high error rate. The present modulation and demodulation method of DSRC system can not expect sufficient for providing data service over 1 Mbps, so the channel equalization and advanced modulation and demodulation methods are required. OFDM method is generally Inon as an effective technique for high data rate transmission system, since it can prevent ISI by inserting a guard interval. However, a guard interval longer than channel delay spread has to be used in each OFDM symbol period, thus resulting a considerable loss in the efficiency of channel utilization. Therefore the equalizer is necessary to cancel ISI to accommodate advanced ISI service with higher bit rate and longer channel delay spread condition. In this thesis, the channel equalizer for the OFDM-DSRC system was designed and its performance in a multi-path fading environment was evaluated with computer simulation. As a result, the performance of Pseudo LMMSE equalizer for the OFDM-DSRC has been improved comparing with LS equalizer at higher bit rate transmission system.

  • The error probability of the DS-CDMA / DPSK cellular mobile communication system with CCI canceller and MRC diversity reception technique has been analyzed in the cellular radio channel which is characterized by AWGN, Multi-User Interference(MUI) and m-distribution fading. System capacity i. e., number of user per cell has been derived and the evaluated results are shown in figures as a function of PN code sequence length, fading index, BER, number of diversity branches and $E_b/N_o$, Here, the voice activity factor is assumed to be 3/8, the number of sectors in a cell 3 and Multi-User Iner- ference is modeled as Gaussian process.

  • Adaptive OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) improves data capacity and system performance over multipath fading by adaptively changing modulation schemes according to channel state information(CSI). To achieve a good performance in adaptive OFDM systems, CSI should be transmitted from receiver to transmitter in real time through feedback channel. However, practically, the CSI feedback delay d which is the sum of the data processing delay and the propagation delay is not negligible and damages to the reliability of CSI such that the performance of adaptive OFDM is degraded. This paper presents an adaptive OFDM system with a multistep predictor on the frequency axis to effectively compensate the multiple feedback delays $d(\geq2)$. Via computer simulation we compare the proposed scheme and existing adaptive OFDM schemes with respect to data capacity and system performance.

  • The joint tactical information distribution system (JTIDS) is used as the communication terminal of Link-16 by the United States armed forces, north atlantic treaty organization (NATO), and other allied forces. A portion of Link-16 frequencies may be shortly remapped to other systems owing to the growing demand for frequencies, especially in civil aviation, which is witnessing a constant increase in air traffic. This will affect the performance of Link-16. Therefore, in this paper, we analyze the effect of frequency band reduction on the performance of Link-16 waveform under partial-band noise jamming with Nakagami fading, via simulation and numerical analysis. The multi-net and anti-jamming performance of Link-16 with frequency remapping is compared with that of conventional Link-16 systems. The results show that the performance of Link-16 waveform is degraded with the reduction in frequencies. Nonetheless, Link-16 retains its jam resistance, and it can support multiple users in the same time slots.

  • In this paper, the DS(direct sequence)-CDMA and MC(multi-carrier)-CDMA, which are being researched recently as a synchronous IMT-2000 scheme for next-generation mobile multimedia communications, are studied in terms of BER(bit error rate) performance. The BER performance of MC-CDMA with EGB, MRC, and improved MMSEC detection scheme are analyzed and compared to that of conventional DS-CDMA adopting RAKE receiver through the computer simulations under the environments of synchronous IMT-2000 transmission channel. Not only single user case but also multiuser case is considered in the given system. As a result, it is shown that MC-CDMA with MMSEC detection outperforms all other schemes improved the $E_b/N_o$ by about 5 [dB] and 6 [dB] when the BER is $2{\times}10^{-3}$, for the indoor/outdoor fading channel and synchronous IMT-2000 transmission channel, respectively. Also in the multiuser case, MC-CDMA with MMSEC detection scheme exhibits better performance than all the other schemes.

  • In this Paper, we propose a multi-hop transmission in cognitive underlay network. In Secondary network, We assume that a secondary source S attempts to transmit D its signal to a secondary destination via N+1 hops with help of N relays $R_1$, $R_2$, ${\ldots}$, $R_N$. At hop k between relay $R_k$ and relay $R_{k+1}$. we assume that there is a primary user $PU_k$. In this paper, we assume that these channels are Rayleigh fading channels. In underlay network, the secondary transmitter has to adapt its power so that the interference caused at the primary user is less than a maximum interference threshold. considering the hop transmission between the transmitter and the repeater, we find transmit power and signal-to-noise ratio(SNR). Between the transmitter from the receiver depending on the number of relay in the underlay network, we compared to find the transmit power and signal-to-noise ratio(SNR). Finally we find optimal number of relay and optimal threshold value.

  • In this thesis, Multi-code/Multi-carrier CDMA(MC/MC CDMA) system which is combination of Multi-code CDMA and Multi-carrier CDMA is analyzed. This system is suitable fur multi-rate services that use multi-codes and high data rate transmission that employ multi-carriers. In addition, the MC/MC CDMA system is robust against frequency selective fading, is good for narrowband interference rejection, and has higher spectral efficiency. In this paper, The users are assigned OVSF codes as a spreading code according to their data rates and divides the active users having different representative code split into a number of groups for effective cancellation. At the receiver, The code grouping interference canceller performs cancellation between the groups. The proposed receiver does not require any information about interference users, such as code, data and amplitude, and has relatively low complexity. The results show the large improvement in performance that can be attained by cancellation scheme.

  • The clipping value, defined as the log-likelihood ratio (LLR) in the case wherein all the list of candidates have the same binary value, is investigated, and an effective method to estimate it is presented for iterative tree search detection. The basic principle behind the method is that the clipping value of a channel bit is equal to the LLR of the maximum probability of correct decision of the bit to the corresponding probability of erroneous decision. In conjunction with multilevel bit mappings, the clipping value can be calculated with the parameters of the number of transmit antennas, $N_t$; number of bits per constellation point, $M_c$; and variance of the channel noise, $\sigma^2$, per real dimension in the Rayleigh fading channel. Analyses and simulations show that the bit error performance of the proposed method is better than that of the conventional fixed-value method.
