Mesoscopic Solvent Dynamics in a Real Dimensional System

  • Hydrodynamic simulations of mesoscopic solvent have been performed by multi-particle collision algorithm in a real dimensional system without and with the random shifting of the grid. A systematic conversion of the dimensionless units to a real dimensional system was confirmed by jump rates of solvent particles. Speed distributions of solvent particles obtained from the simulations agreed very well with the Maxwell-Boltzmann distributions. Solvent viscosities obtained from the simulations and from the conversion of units are exactly the same which confirmed the correct conversion of the units once again. The calculation of the friction coefficient of a massive Brownian particle in a mesoscopic solvent as a function of Brownian particle diameter was examined as an example.

The assessment of sound quality of loudspeaker system by using factor analysis and muliti-dimensional scaling (인자분석과 다효원척를 이용한 스피이커의 음질평가)

  • The objective data and subjective data correlated in order to rate sound quality of loudspeaker system and these data were analyzed by the Factor Analysis and Multi-Dimensioinal Scaling. The dimensions yielded Factor Analysis were interpreted as "Contrast", "Metallic", "Rich", "Present" and their relation to physical variables were explored by studying the positions of loudspeaker systems in the respective dimension. When the subjective similarity degree of loudspeaker systems was compared with the objective similarity degree of loudspeaker systems by Multi-Dimensional Scaling, the similarity degree of sound pressure response in the listening room closely coincided with the subjective similarity degree regardless of sound source. This result implies the necessity of measurements taken not only in an anechoic room but also in a listening room in order to rate sound quality of loudspeaker systems.

  • Satellite IKONOS images are one of important remote sensing data sources as today because of their very high spatial resolution. Their detections for islands and offshore oceanic features with multi-dimension and multi-scales information, specially some small islands, are of great potential. Their application abilities in islands and offshore detections are addressed at the first of the paper. And image processing technologies and the information extracting methodologies are described. Some results on remote sensing of the islands and their nearby object features are shown in details. Discussions and conclusions are carried out simply at the final.

  • Anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) which prepared with two-step anodizing method (with dissimilar solutions) was used as a template to fabricate highly ordered, free standing metal nano-rods. AAO nano-template technique can realize self-organized hexagonal pore structure with nanometer dimension size, it's easy to control pore diameter, length and density by varying anodizing conditions. Ni and Ni/Fe/Cu multi-metal layer nanorods were electrochemically deposited into AAO nano-template by AC voltage in simple sulfate solutions.. The properties of samples are tested by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission microscopy (FE-SEM).

We give lower bounds for the maximum modules $sup_{z\;{\in}\;R\;$\mid$\Sigma_{$\mid$\alpha$\mid$=m}\;s_{\alpha}z^{\alpha}$\mid$$, and upper estimates for the average of these maximum moduli taken over all possible m-homogeneous Bernoulli polynomials (i.e. $s_{\alpha}\;=\;{\pm}1$ for all multi indices $\alpha$). Examples show that for a fixed degree m our estimates, for rather large classes of domains R, are asymptotically optimal in the dimension n.

  • The 7-dimensional Telescope (7DT) is an innovative multiple telescope system that can perform a rapid identification of optical counterparts of gravitational-wave (GW) sources and a wide variety of other astronomical projects. This telescope is being developed as a part of the recently approved National Challenge program, the GW Universe project, with a full operation planned at the end of 2023. The word 7-dimension stands for x, y, z positions, the radial velocity, the time, the wavelength, and the flux of astronomical sources, implying the telescope's capability of performing time-series wide-field, IFU-type spectroscopic observations. The 7DT is composed of about twenty 0.5-m wide-field telescopes, and it can obtain spectral-imaging data at 40 different wavelengths to the depth of 20 AB mag with 3 min exposure for a given epoch. In this talk, we will introduce the telescope system, and outline its scientific capabilities with an emphasis on multi-messenger astronomy and a few other key science topics.

Measurement of 2D surface deformation on the Seguam volcano of Alaska using DInSAR Multi-track time-series techniques (DInSAR 멀티 트랙 시계열 기법을 이용한 알라스카 시구암 화산의 2차원 지표변위 관측)

  • Small BAseline Subset (SBAS) technique using multi master interferograms can be effective to detect surface deformation in forest area. In this paper, The analysis reveals area of 2-dimension surface deformation at Seguam Island in Aleutian Arc., Alaska. We acquired ERS-1/2 data from track 201 and 473 datasets on Seguam Island from 1992 to 2008. This study analyze surface deformation applying Differential Interferometry Synthetic Aperture Radar (DInSAR) and SBAS time series method using two adjacent tracks. As a results, it was calculated that subsidence -1~2 cm in LOS direction and - 2~3 cm in vertical direction. The horizontal direction was repeated contraction and expansion. The observation of 2-dimension displacements explained the volcanic activity on Seguam island. Also, it is believed to be used for basic data to estimate movements of magma source.

Transceiver Design Method for Finitely Large Numbers of Antenna Systems (유한 대용량 안테나 시스템에서 송수신기 설계 방법)

  • We consider a linear transceiver design method for multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) downlink channels where a base station (BS) equipped with a finitely large number of antennas. Although a matched-filter precoder is a capacity-achieving method in massive MIMO downlink systems, it cannot guarantee to achieve the multi-user MIMO capacity in a finitely large number of antennas due to inter-user interferences. In this paper, we propose a two-stage precoder design method that maximizes the sum-rate of cell-edge users when the BS equipped with a finitely large number of antennas. At the first stage, a matched-filter precoder is adopted to exploit both beamforming gain and the reduction of the dimension of effective channels. Then, we derive the second stage precoder that maximizes the sum-rate by minimizing the weighted mean square error (WMSE). From simulation and analysis, we verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

A Study on the Extraction of Parasitic Capacitance for Multiple-level Interconnect Structures (다층배선 인터커넥트 구조의 기생 캐패시턴스 추출 연구)

  • This paper are reported a methodology and application for extracting parasitic capacitances in a multi-level interconnect semiconductor structure by a numerical technique. To calculate the parasitic capacitances between the interconnect lines, we employed finite element method (FEM) and calculated the distrubution of electric potential in the inter-metal layer dielecric(ILD) by solving the Laplace equation. The three-dimensional multi-level interconnect structure is generated directly from two-dimensional mask layout data by specifying process sequences and dimension. An exemplary structure comprising two metal lines with a dimension of 8.0$\times$8.0$\times$5.0$\mu\textrm{m}^3/TEX>, which is embedded in three dielectric layer, was simulated to extract the parasitic capacitances. In this calculation, 1960 nodes with 8892 tetrahedra were used in ULTRA SPARC 1 workstation. The total CPU time for the simulation was 28 seconds, while the memory size of 4.4MB was required.

  • We present a striping technique that MPEG-1 video streams ell a disk array can be efficiently played back at different resolution levels. For the MPEG-1 compression algorithm, the proposed multi-level encoding technique first partitions the parent video stream in the temporal dimension. Each frame in the sub-stream is then Partitioned in the chroma dimension yielding a low resolution and a residual component. The multimedia server stores blocks of different components on consecutive disks in a round robin manner. As a result, the lower the resolution level being maintained, the smaller is the number of disks accessed by each client. To effectively utilize a disk array and to maximize the number of clients that can be serviced simultaneously, the proposed technique interleaves the storage of the component of sub-streams among the disks in the array We empirically validate and evaluate this striping technique through simulation in order to show the improvement of its performance on the server.
