Test and Evaluation of the Propeller Developed for a Multi-copter with the Take-off Weight of 25 kg (이륙 중량 25 kg급 멀티콥터용 프로펠러 시험 평가)

  • Structural static test and the performance test were conducted to determine whether the propeller developed for a multi-copter with the take-off weight of 25 kg satisfies the design requirement. The result of the structural test revealed that the propeller had a safety margin of 3 or more as the ultimate load and requirement load did not cause the specimen breakage. In the performance test, the propeller generated the hover thrust and maximum thrust of design requirement, and hover efficiency in the operating thrust range was greater than 0.73. Maximum hover efficiency increased by more than 3% compared to the reference propeller and electric power consumption decreased by more than 4% in the operating range. The propeller was found to be successfully developed based on the satisfaction rate of the structural strength requirement and the performance requirement.

Susceptibility of Myzus persicae on Potato field and Riptortus clavatus on Soybean field to Insecticides treated by Multi-copter (농업용 멀티콥터를 활용한 감자의 복숭아혹진딧물과 콩의 톱다리개미허리노린재의 약제방제 효율)

  • The Aphid, Myzus persicae, and the bean bug, Riptortus clavatus, are major insects in crops. This study examined the insecticide susceptibility and phytotoxicity of insecticides dispersed using an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV, multi-copter) against the insects. Sulfoxaflor suspension concentrate (SC, 16X) on potato fields and etofenprox, methoxyfenzide suspo-emulsion(SE, 8X) on soybean fields were dispersed after deploying water-sensitive paper within the field to measure the distribution pattern and coverage index of the falling insecticide. Both insecticides showed a controlled mortality of 76.4% against aphids and 97.5% and 94.4% against the 2nd nymphal, and 5th nymphal stage of the bugs, respectively. The droplet distribution was less than 0.5mm, and coverage analysis revealed an inside and outside coverage of 3.1 and 1.6, respectively. The surrounding area was affected by insecticide spraying using a multi-copter. This study is expected to help expand UAV control and use it safely in the future.

  • This paper describes flying inspection apparatus for 22.9kV distribution line. This apparatus is composed of multi-copter(more than 4 propellers), camcorder and remote controller. The existing inspections, such as hot-line inspection job and optical inspection method and distribution Line Checking Robot, have many restrictions. A electric working vehicle and hot-line job license are essential in hot-line inspection job. Besides its high cost, it can't be applied to the electric pole over 18m and road-blocked area. Optical method can't inspect upper side of electric facilities mounted on the electric pole. Robot method can't be applied to the corroded overhead earth wire and nothing of overhead earth wire. To solve the problems, in Korea Electric Power Co., we have applied flying inspection apparatus to the 22.9kV distribution line. The results of trial application show that this paper is practical and effective for the inspection technical method in 22.9kV distribution line

  • Unmanned flying robots have been used recently in many difficult situations. One of the major issues in this area is the problem of how long these unmanned flying robots can perform a given task successfully. For this, the development of a light body and high-efficiency power supply has been executed widely, but we do not as yet have the complete solution. In this paper, we propose a form of Multi-Copter X8, which can transform into other types to further improve these problems. The proposed robot has a 3-type modification capability, which can produce a more enhanced energy saving effect by reducing power consumption.

  • This paper proposed a novel compressed sensing (CS) technique for an efficient video transmission of multi-copter. The proposed scheme is focused on reduction of the amount of data based on CS technology. First, we describe basic principle of Spectrum sensing. And then we compare AMP(Approximate Message Passing) with CoSaMP(Compressive Sampling Matched Pursuit) through mathematical analysis and simulation results. They are evaluated in terms of calculation time and complexity, then the promising algorithm is suggestd for multicopter operation. The result of experiment in this paper shows that AMP algorithm is more efficient than CoSaMP algorithm when it comes to calculation time and image error probability.

  • 본 논문에서는 실외 환경에서 GPS 센서 보다 빠른 주기의 위치 추정 기법을 소개한다. 빠른 제어주기가 필요한 멀티콥터 시스템에서 위치 제어에 GPS 센서를 사용하기 위해서는 상대적으로 느린 GPS 데이터의 출력주기를 보완하는 처리가 필요하다. 이 문제를 해결하기 위해 오픈소스 프로젝트를 분석하고 활용하여 가능성을 확인하는 선행 연구를 진행하였다. matlab에서 알고리즘을 검증하고 임베디드 장비에 직접 구동해봄으로써 성능을 확인하였다. 이 알고리즘에서는 멀터콥터의 위치 추정 계산을 위해 AHRS, GPS센서, barometer 센서를 사용한다.

Numerical Investigation of the Effect of Spacing in Coaxial Propeller Multi-Copter in Hovering (멀티콥터용 동축반전 프로펠러 상하 간격에 따른 제자리 비행 공력 특성에 대한 수치적 연구)

  • In this study, a numerical analysis was performed on 26 inch single and coaxial propeller using the ANSYS Fluent 19.0 Solver to analyse the effect of the distance between coaxial propellers as one of the design parameter. The Moving Reference Frame (MRF) method was used for single propeller, while the sliding mesh method was used for a coaxial propeller to analyse the flow field varying with azimuth angle. The thrust and power are decreased as the upper and lower propeller approaching each other. As H/D is increased, interference between the propellers is decreased. According to the flow field variable contour of the coaxial propeller, it appears that the change in aerodynamic performance is due to the loading effect and the tip vortex wake effect.

  • This study investigated spray patterns and coverage generated by three types of commercial nozzles for spraying pesticides with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) using a multi-copter. Flufenoxuron+metaflumizone SC and bifenthrin EC were sprayed. The falling particles of the spraying agent were measured using WSP (Water and oil Sensitive Paper) and the coverage was determined. The results showed that the uniformity of falling particles was different according to the difference in wind strength, and there was no difference for different formulations. The injection amount for each nozzle was found to be different from the official information provided by the manufacturers. These results could be used to establish guidelines for the control of UAVs and pesticide registration testing.

  • PAV is considered to improve quality of life and standards of living, improvement of which was caused by automobile hundred years ago. Comparative economic efficiency of PAVs is measured to compare each PAV. Specification and sales price of the PAVs are open to the public. BlackFly, Transition and Aeromobil 3.0 have competitive power in flying range, purchasing cost, and operational cost. Lift & cruise configuration and vectored thrust configuration PAVs are designed by many companies nowadays, and BlackFly which can be considered to be lift & cruise configuration is one of the most efficient PAVs. High battery price does not help multi-copter shaped PAVs to have economic efficiency. Aerodynamic wing, eVTOL, and low sale price are needed for PAVs to ride a wave of public interest as a new personal mobility. Under the conditions, the PAV can fly at downtown and can be purchased by people at large. Popularization of PAV could follow in the 100 years old footsteps of automobile.

Susceptibility of Spodoptera exigua to UVA Insecticides Using Agricultural Multi-copter on Cabbage Field (농업용 멀티콥터를 활용한 무인항공기용 작물보호제에 대한 배추 파밤나방의 약제감수성)

  • We investigated the control efficacy and phytotoxicity of unmanned aerial vehicle-applied pesticides against the insect Spodoptera exigua, a major emerging pest in Chinese cabbage. Phytotoxicity was investigated in cabbage and 7 crops cultivated in the perconducted on 8 surrounding crops including Chinese cabbage at 1 to 2 times the recommended pesticide dosage. We treated cabbage fields with spinetoram suspension concentrate (16×), methoxyfenozide, sulfoxaflor suspension concentrate (16×). Then, we used water-sensitive paper to measure the distribution pattern of falling pesticide particles and the degree of coverage. Two of the pesticides showed 97% control efficacy, however, control efficacy might differ in resistant populations. Phytotoxicity was not observed in Chinese cabbage and the 7 surrounding crops treated with 1 to 2 times the recommended pesticide dosage. Analysis of the distribution pattern of falling pesticide particles revealed that breeze caused particle diffusion. Thus, wind is an important factor affecting the uniform treatment and diffusion of multicopter-applied pesticides. It follows that setting optimal conditions is necessary for effective control and treatment.
