Various processes, such as space weathering and granular convection, are occurring on asteroids' surfaces. Estimation of the surface exposure timescale is essential for understanding these processes. The Hayabusa mission target asteroid, (25143) Itokawa (Sq-type) is the only asteroid whose age is estimated from remote sensing observations as well as sample analyses in laboratories. There is, however, an unignorable discrepancy between the timescale derived from these different techniques. The ages estimated based on the solar flare track density and the weathered rim thickness of regolith samples range between 102 and 104 years [1][2]. On the contrary, the ages estimated from the crater size distributions and the spectra cover from 106 to 107 years [3][4]. It is important to notice that there is a common drawback of both age estimation methods. Since the evidence of regolith migration is found on the surface of Itokawa [5], the surficial particles would be rejuvenated by granular convection. At the same time, it is expected that the erasure of craters by regolith migration would affect the crater size distribution. We propose a new technique to estimate surface exposure age, focusing on the bright mottles on the large boulders. Our technique is less prone to the granular convection. These mottles are expected to be formed by impacts of mm to cm-sized interplanetary particles. Together with the well-known flux model of interplanetary dust particles (e.g., Grün, 1985 [6]), we have investigated the timescale to form such mottles before they become dark materials again by the space weathering. In this work, we used three AMICA (Asteroid Multi-band Imaging Camera) v-band images. These images were taken on 2005 November 12 during the close approach to the asteroid. As a result, we found the surface exposure timescales of these boulders are an order of 106 years. In this meeting, we will introduce our data analysis technique and evaluate the consistency among previous research for a better understanding of the evolution of this near-Earth asteroid.

With standard orthorectification algorithms, one can produce unacceptable structure duplication in the orthophoto due to the double projection. Because of the abrupt height differences, such structure duplication is a frequently occurred phenomenon in the dense urban area which includes multi-history buildings. Therefore, occlusion area detection especially for the urban area is a critical issue in generation of true orthophoto. This paper deals with occlusion area detection with visible height based approach from aerial imagery and LiDAR. In order to accomplish this, a grid format DSM is produced from the point clouds of LiDAR. Next, visible height based algorithm is proposed to detect the occlusion area for each camera exposure station with DSM. Finally, generation of true orthophoto is presented with DSM and previously produced occlusion maps. The proposed algorithms are applied in the Purdue campus, Indiana, USA.

Multi-exposure high dynamic range (HDR) image reconstruction, the task of reconstructing an HDR image from multiple low dynamic range (LDR) images in a dynamic scene, often produces ghosting artifacts caused by camera motion and moving objects and also cannot deal with washed-out regions due to over or under-exposures. While there has been many deep-learning-based methods with motion estimation to alleviate these problems, they still have limitations for severely moving scenes. They also require large parameter counts, especially in the case of state-of-the-art methods that employ attention modules. To address these issues, we propose a frequency domain approach based on the idea that the transform domain coefficients inherently involve the global information from whole image pixels to cope with large motions. Specifically we adopt Residual Fast Fourier Transform (RFFT) blocks, which allows for global interactions of pixels. Moreover, we also employ Depthwise Overparametrized convolution (DO-conv) blocks, a convolution in which each input channel is convolved with its own 2D kernel, for faster convergence and performance gains. We call this LFFNet (Lightweight Frequency Fusion Network), and experiments on the benchmarks show reduced ghosting artifacts and improved performance up to 0.6dB tonemapped PSNR compared to recent state-of-the-art methods. Our architecture also requires fewer parameters and converges faster in training.

This paper introduces a new method for identification of building energy performance problems. The presented method is based on automated analysis and visualization of deviations between actual and expected energy performance of the building using EPAR (Energy Performance Augmented Reality) models. For generating EPAR models, during building inspections, energy auditors collect a large number of digital and thermal imagery using a consumer-level single thermal camera that has a built-in digital lens. Based on a pipeline of image-based 3D reconstruction algorithms built on GPU and multi-core CPU architecture, 3D geometrical and thermal point cloud models of the building under inspection are automatically generated and integrated. Then, the resulting actual 3D spatio-thermal model and the expected energy performance model simulated using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis are superimposed within an augmented reality environment. Based on the resulting EPAR models which jointly visualize the actual and expected energy performance of the building under inspection, two new algorithms are introduced for quick and reliable identification of potential performance problems: 1) 3D thermal mesh modeling using k-d trees and nearest neighbor searching to automate calculation of temperature deviations; and 2) automated visualization of performance deviations using a metaphor based on traffic light colors. The proposed EPAR v2.0 modeling method is validated on several interior locations of a residential building and an instructional facility. Our empirical observations show that the automated energy performance analysis using EPAR models enables performance deviations to be rapidly and accurately identified. The visualization of performance deviations in 3D enables auditors to easily identify potential building performance problems. Rather than manually analyzing thermal imagery, auditors can focus on other important tasks such as evaluating possible remedial alternatives.
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to present a service construction plan using multiple complex sensor information to detect abnormal situations in urban life safety that are difficult to identify on CCTV. Method: This study selected service scenarios based on actual testbed data and analyzed service importance for local government control center operators, which are main users. Result: Service scenarios were selected as detection of day and night dynamic object, Detection of sudden temperature changes, and Detection of time-series temperature changes. As a result of AHP analysis, walking and mobility collision risk situation services and fire foreshadowing detection services leading to immediate major disasters were highly evaluated. Conclusion: This study is significant in proposing a plan to build an anomaly detection service that can be used in local governments based on real data. Recently, some methods of converging heterogeneous fire sensor data have been proposed for effective fire detection, but the rule-based methods have low adaptability and accuracy, and the fuzzy inference methods suffer from detection speed and accuracy by lack of consideration for images. In addition, a few image-based deep learning methods were researched, but it was too difficult to rapidly recognize the fire event in absence of cameras or out of scope of a camera in practical situations. In this paper, we propose a novel fire detection system combining a deep learning algorithm based on CNN and fuzzy inference engine based on heterogeneous fire sensor data including temperature, humidity, gas, and smoke density. we show it is possible for the proposed system to rapidly detect fire by utilizing images and to decide fire in a reliable way by utilizing multi-sensor data. Also, we apply distributed computing architecture to fire detection algorithm in order to avoid concentration of computing power on a server and to enhance scalability as a result. Finally, we prove the performance of the system through two experiments by means of NIST's fire dynamics simulator in both cases of an explosively spreading fire and a gradually growing fire.
Recent advanced UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) technology supply new opportunities for estimating crop condition using high resolution imagery. We analyzed the diurnal change of reflectance and NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) in UAV imagery for crop monitoring in clear day condition. Multi-spectral images were obtained from a 5-band multi-spectral camera mounted on rotary wing UAV. Reflectance were derived by the direct method using down-welling irradiance measurement. Reflectance using UAV imagery on calibration tarp, concrete and crop experimental sites did not show stable by time and daily reproducible values. But the CV (Coefficient of Variation) of diurnal NDVI on crop experimental sites was less than 5%. As a result of comparing NDVI at the similar time for two day, the daily mean average ratio of error showed a difference of 0.62 to 3.97%. Therefore, it is considered that NDVI using UAV imagery can be used for time series crop monitoring.
Cellular operators develop high speed mobile internet and multi-function cellular phones to activate new business model based on mobile internet services. Domestic cellular operators evolve their mobile networks from cdma2000-1x and EvDo to HSDPA to activate high speed mobile internet services. They also develop mobile internet platforms such as WIPI, BREW, and J2ME on multi-function cellular phones having multimedia solutions such as camera, MP3, MPEG, 3D game engine, DMB, PAN such as bluetooth, IrDA, W-LAN, and location information using GPS. But, content providers have problems of redevelopment of the same mobile internet application on different mobile internet platforms provided by cellular operators. In this paper, we develop conversion solutions for interoperability of mobile internet applications on WIPI and BREW using an one-pass compiler. We confirm the performance the proposed conversion solutions for the API conversion rate, the converted file size, and the full conversion time using the popular mobile games which are the killer applications on WiPI and BREW.
In recent years, with the development of devices to collect multimedia data such as small CMOS camera sensor and micro phone, studies on wireless multimedia sensor network technologies and their applications that extend the existing wireless sensor network technologies have been actively done. In such applications, various basic schemes such as the processing, storage, and transmission of multimedia data are required. Especially, a security for real world environments is essential. In this paper, in order to defend the sniffing attack in various hacking techniques, we propose a multipath routing scheme for physically avoiding the data transmission path from the risk factors. Our proposed scheme establishes the DEFCON of the sensor nodes that are geographically close to risk factors and the priorities according to the importance of the data. Our proposed scheme performs risk factor detour multipath routing through a safe path considering the DEFCON and data priority. Our experimental results show that although our proposed scheme takes the transmission delay time by about 5% over the existing scheme, it reduces the eavesdropping rate that can attack and intercept data by the risk factor by about 18%.

In this paper, we proposed an efficient coding method for digital hologram (fringe pattern) acquired by a CCD camera or by computer generation using multi-view prediction technique and MPEG video compression standard technique. It proceeds each R, G, or B color component separately. The basic processing unit is a partial image segmented into the size of $N{\times}N$. Each partial image retains the information of the whole object. This method generates an assembled image for a row of the segmented and frequency-transformed partial images, which is the basis of the coding process. That is, a motion estimation and compensation technique of MPEG is applif:d to the reconstructed images from the assembled images with the disparities found during generation of assembled image and the original partial images. Therefore the compressed results are the disparity of eachpartial image to form the assembled image for the corresponding row, assembled image, and the motion vectors and the compensated image for each partial image. The experimental results with the implemented algorithm showed that the proposed method has NC (Normal Correlation) values about 4% higher than the previous method, by which ours has better compression efficiency. Consequently, the Proposed method is expected to be used effectively in the application areas to transmit the digital hologram data. can be identified in comparison with the previous researches and commercial IPs.
