Many mechanical systems are over-constrained if only rigid bodies are used to model the system. One example of such system is a satellite system with solar panels. To avoid this over-constrained problem, solar panels can be modeled as flexible bodies. The CMS(Component Mode Synthesis) method is widely used to analyze the flexible multi-body system because it can considerably approximate the deformation of the flexible bodies using small number of well-selected mode. However, it is very difficult to decide the boundary condition and the selection of modes. In this paper, the methods for mode synthesis and setting the boundary condition are presented to analyze the flexible multi-body system with over-constraints. Finally, the reliability of proposed method is verified by solar panel's deployment test.

It is known that displacements, velocities and accelerations of the tractor- trailer type vehicle system in shock & vibration analysis by the flexible-multi-body dynamics including the flexibility of structure are bigger and more repetitive than them by the rigid-multi-body dynamics, and it is necessary to prove above results by the experimental field test. Therefore, in this paper, theoretical analysis by the flexible-multi-body dynamics and experimental field test for a tractor-trailer type vehicle system are conducted and their results are compared with each other. Because of unexpected metal contact and impact in the air coupler part in the field test, some accelerations measured from the experimental field test are bigger than them analyzed from the theoretical analysis, but most accelerations are well coincide with each other in the amplitudes and trends. Thus more refined dynamic analytical models for some special type vehicle systems will be possible in the future.

To analyze the applications of all types of mechanical systems, general purpose analysis programs have been developed and commercialized. However, it is customary to develop and use customized programs even though they sometimes require more work than a general purpose program. A customized program is simplified to adapt to a particular application from the beginning, is designed for small computers, and developed with hardware-in-the-loop in mind so it can be applied effectively. By adding design knowledge and bundling know-how to an analysis program, analysis time can be reduced. And because an analysis has to work in conjunction with other analysis programs, a proprietary program that the user can easily modify can be useful. In this thesis, a multi-body dynamics analysis system is presented using one of the most useful programming techniques, object-oriented concept. The object-oriented concept defines a problem from the physical world as an abstract object, an abstract model. The object becomes encapsulated with the data and method. Simulation is performed using the object's interface. It is then possible for the user and the developer to modify and upgrade the program without having particular knowledge of the analysis program. The method presented in this thesis has the following advantages. Since the mechanical components of the multi-body system converts independent modeling into a class, the modification, exchange, distribution, and reuse of elements are increased. It becomes easier to employ a new analysis method and interface with other S/W and H/W systems. To employ a new analysis method, there is no need to modify elements of the main solver and the Library. In addition, information can be communicated to each object through messaging. It makes the modeling of new elements easier using inheritance. When developing a S/W for the computer simulation of physical system, it is reasonable to use object-oriented modeling. Also, for multi-body dynamics analysis, it is possible to develop a solver that is user-oriented.

This paper presents a method for the acceleration analysis of multi-legged walking robots in consideration of the frictional ground contact. This method is based on both unified dynamic equation for finding the acceleration of a robot's body and constraint equation for satisfying no-slip condition. After the dynamic equation representing relationship between actuator torques and body acceleration, is derived from the force and acceleration relationship between foot and body's gravity center, the constraint equation is formulated to reconfigure the maximum torque boundaries satisfying no-slip condition from given original actuator torque boundaries. From application of the reconfigured torques to the dynamic equation, interested acceleration boundaries are obtained. The approach based on above two equations, is adapted to the changes of degree-of-freedoms of legs as well as friction of ground. And the method provides the maximum translational and rotational acceleration boundaries of body's center that are achievable in every direction without occurring slipping at the contact points or saturating all actuators. Given the torque limits in infinite normsense, the resultant accelerations are derived as a polytope. From the proposed method, we obtained achievable acceleration boundaries of 4-legged and 6-legged walking robot system successfully.

The objective of this paper is to develop a solution method for the differential-algebraic equation(DAE) derived from constrained muti-body dynamic systems. Mechanical systems are often modeled as bodies and joints. Differential equations of motion are formulated for bodies. Since the bodies are connected by joint, the differential variables must satisfy the kinematic constraint equations that come from the joints. Difficulties are arised due to drift of the differential variables off the constraint equations. An optimization method is adopted to correct the drift of the differential variables. To demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method a slider-crank mechanism is analyzed dynamically. Identical results are obtained as these from the commercial program DADS. Dynamic analysis of a High Mobility Multi-purpose Wheeled. Vehicle(HMMWV) is carried out to show the practicalism of the proposed method.
In this paper, we found that modification of the local flexibility (or local stiffness) of the 4 parts on which shock absorbers are mounted in the vehicle body has some influence the level of ride safety and comfort. Multi-body dynamic analysis considering the flexibility of the vehicle body is performed using MSC/ADAMS and MSC/NASTRAN. More concretely speaking, natural frequencies and mode shapes computed by MSC/NASTRAN are used as input data for multi-body dynamic analysis in MSC/ADAMS. It is confirmed that the ride comfort can be improved by appropriately changing the local stiffness of the vehicle body through several simulations using MSC/ADAMS.

The characteristics of vibration and noise of a compressor used for electric appliances have significant influence on the quality of the products. For improvement on the quality of electric appliances, investigations for understanding the dynamic behaviour of the compressor are essential. Since Virtual Lab for the dynamics model and MAXWELL for the electromagnetics model are separate software programs with no interface, the joint simulation of the models could not be performed. This study suggests a way to develop the compressor model capable of the joint simulation with MATLAB/SIMULINK linking a flexible multi-body dynamics model, a torque model, and an electricity control model. The compressor model is found to be able to perform I/O data transfer among the sub-models and joint simulation. The simulation results of the flexible body and rigid body dynamics models were compared to check availability of the joint simulation system. In addition, the simulated vibration and driving torque of the compressor mechanisms were compared with measurements. Through the simulations, the influence of springs and LDT on the dynamic behaviour of the compressor was examined. This study examines the influence of the dynamic behaviour of the compressor mechanisms through joint simulation of the flexible multi-body dynamics model and electromagnetic circuit allows analysis.
This study performed the numerical analysis of the internal nozzle flows including cavitation phenomena by using the automated body-fitted grid generator and the multi-fluid model. The effect of grid refinement and the validation of multifluid model were investigated using four computational meshes under two test conditions. The mesh #3 was chosen as the optimum which can reduce the computational time and have good prediction ability to identify the cavitation region simultaneously. In addition, the computed results using multi-fluid model were compared with the reference experimental observations and numerical simulation results using homogeneous equilibrium model. From the distribution of volume fraction and velocity field, the multi-fluid model predicted the internal nozzle flows well when the liquid quality parameters were selected as $1.0{\times}10^{12}$ for initial number density and 25 ${\mu}m$ for bubble diameter.
This study is concentrated on the development of hight speed multi-object image processing algorithm, and based on these a1gorithm, vision control scheme is developed for the robot's position control in real time. Recently, the use of vision system is rapidly increasing in robot's position centre. To apply vision system in robot's position control, it is necessary to transform the physical coordinate of object into the image information acquired by CCD camera, which is called image processing. Thus, to control the robot's point position in real time, we have to know the center point of object in image plane. Particularly, in case of rigid body, the center points of multi-object must be calculated in a image plane at the same time. To solve these problems, the algorithm of multi-object for rigid body control is developed.

The finite element programs have been developed for structure, collision, flow, dynamics, heat transfer, acoustics, electromagnetism, MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems), and etc. These programs can be classified as either "package" program or "single purpose" program. Single purpose programs usually have convenient and powerful functions, but these programs have limited expandability to different fields of analysis. Therefore, the method to converter the analysis results of single purpose program to other programs is needed. In the research, multi-body data conversion methods of 1) finite element model and 2) solid model were created to convert fluid analysis result of CFD-ACE+ to ANSYS data structure. Automatic boundary condition algorithms were developed for blade, and finite element model was compared with solid model. It is expected that, by sealess data transfer, the Multi-body Data Conversion Program could reduce the development period of torque converters.
