Vehicle stability is a very important subject in vehicle design and control, because vehicle safety is closely dependent upon its dynamic stability. The control logic for four-wheel steering(4WS) systems, in which maintaining at least the specified stability region is the control objective, was constructed using the simplified vehicle model of 3 degree-of-freedoms. The improvement of vehicle stability was verified through computer simulations for the slalom and the double lane change maneuver using the multi-body dynamic model in MSC.ADAMS.
The sophisticated technologies, ensuring both stability and curving performance, are required for the medium high speed train running on conventional railway line where tangent and curved section mixed together. We can hardly meet the both requirements conflicting each other with the conventional type of bogie. Effective solution is to apply stabilizing mechanism for the bogie design, which increase hunting stability or dynamically critical speed while maintaining curving performance. In this research the numerical analysis by means of multi-body dynamic simulation S/W, experiments by using roller test rig and main line running test have been comprehensively performed for the 200km/h Korean Tilting Train with newly developed stabilizer. The paper proposes the effectiveness of stabilizer and its usefulness based on the results of analyses.

A Hotchkiss spring has been widely utilized for commercial vehicle. Usually, the Hotchkiss spring has non-linear characteristics, i.e. it has a piecewise spring stiffness as well as hysterisis phenomenon. Therefore, the modeling of the Hotchkiss spring requires many considerations to fulfill satisfactory vehicle kinematic and dynamic relationships. Also, the spring has difficulties in modeling for presenting contact mechanism. In this paper, the modeling technique for the Hotchkiss spring has been descried. The modeling covers non-linear characteristics as well as contact problems for multi-body dynamic simulation. The force-displacement results are compared with experimental and FEM ones. Also, the comparison between three link type leaf spring model and proposed one has been considered in this paper.

A novel method for 3-dimensional dynamic analysis of marine slender structure gas been developed by using Euler parameters. The Euler parameter rotation, which is being widely used in aerospace vehicle dynamics and multi-body dynamics, has been applied to elastic structure analysis. Large deformation of flexible slender structures is described by means of Euler parameters. Euler parameter method is implemented effectively in incremental-iterative algorithm for 3D dynamic analysis. The normalization constraint of Euler parameters is efficiently satisfied by means of a sequential updating method.
A hospital is the most important infra-facility of the places which take care of people's body in social environment. There exist several environmental factors in the ways to heal the human body in hospital ward, but this study tried to look into the improvable pleasant sickroom environment with focus on light environment among the factors. In other words, this study aims at the research on proper daylight inflow into sickroom space as basic data for understanding the link between healing environment and natural lighting. In the simulation analysis through this research, this study completed the initial simulation using Autodesk Revit 2011 with focus on two types of individual multi-bed room units of the two general hospitals located in Gwangju City. This study made a simulation analysis of The two multi-bed rooms looking to the west using the weather data on Gwangju district, which is the strong point of ECOTECT2011. Conclusively, looking into the analysis of the simulation model in time of attaching the length of in & outside light shelf, the angle controlling of light shelf, the daylight factor and DA were found to show the tendency to decrease in the numerical value due to the decrease in sunlight inflow as the simulation model moved more toward the room from the window in comparison with the existing analysis of multi-bed rooms. Particularly, this study was able to read that the daylight factor and DA were more decreasing to improve at the light shelf than the existing bedrooms; conclusively, this study judges that the natural lighting simulation analysis could be helpful in improving the healing environment as basic data.

A numerical study on the hydrodynamic properties of a floating flexible breakwater consisting of triple vertical porous membrane structures attached to a floating rigid pontoon restrained by moorings is carried out in the context of two-dimensional linear wave-flexible body interaction theory. The tensions in the triple membranes are achieved by hanging a clump weight from its lower ends. The clump weight is also restrained properly by moorings. The dynamic behavior of the breakwater was described through an appropriate Green function, and the fluid multi-domains are incorporated into the boundary integral equation. Numerical results are presented which illustrate the effects of the various wave and structural parameters on the efficiency of the breakwater as a barrier to wave action. It is found that the wave reflection and transmission properties of the structures depends strongly on the membrane length taking major fraction of water column, the magnitude of tensions on membrane achieving by the clump weight, proper mooring types and stiffness, the permeability on the membrane dissipating wave energy.

The abnormal vibration from the BTV(Brake Torque Variation) and DTV(Disc Thickness Variation) is transferred to the suspension and steering system during braking. In this paper, judder simulation is carried out using multi-body dynamic analysis program to analyze the relation of the judder and transfer mechanism which is composed of the suspension and steering system. In order to analyze the brake judder transfer system, the full vehicle model was composed with rigid body, non-linear bushing, non-linear constraints and joints. Full vehicle model analysis was compared by actual vehicle judder test and sensitivity analysis of the suspension system is carried out.
When designing workplaces, controls should be placed within the reach of operator's arm or foot to guarantee effective performance. The aviation industry is perhaps the chief user of anthropometric data for its need to weight minimization and space optimization. In designing a workplace which must cater to a wide range of operator size, it might be sufficient to plan only for the 'average person'. Static arm reach measurements which are taken in conventional, standardized positions provide the necessary information, but they cannot be directly applied to dynamic situations. In this research, an approximate algorithm to generate the workspace of the human body including foot reach and trunk motion is proposed and tested. The robot kinematics was employed to represent the human body as a multi-link system.
Nonlinear dynamic analysis of a reinforced concrete (RC) frame under earthquake loading is performed in this paper on the basis of a hysteretic moment-curvature relation. Unlike previous analytical moment-curvature relations which take into account the flexural deformation only with the perfect-bond assumption, by introducing an equivalent flexural stiffness, the proposed relation considers the rigid-body-motion due to anchorage slip at the fixed end, which accounts for more than 50% of the total deformation. The advantage of the proposed relation, compared with both the layered section approach and the multi-component model, may be the ease of its application to a complex structure composed of many elements and on the reduction in calculation time and memory space. Describing the structural response more exactly becomes possible through the use of curved unloading and reloading branches inferred from the stress-strain relation of steel and consideration of the pinching effect caused by axial force. Finally, the applicability of the proposed model to the nonlinear dynamic analysis of RC structures is established through correlation studies between analytical and experimental results.
This study is devoted to developing many new substructure models for ballasted railway track by using the pyramid model philosophy. As the effect of railway embankment has been less considered in the previous studies in the field of vehicle/track interaction, so the present study develops the pyramid models in the presence of railway embankment and implements them in vehicle/track interaction dynamic analyses. Considering a moving car body as multi bodies with 10 degrees of freedom and the ballasted track including rail, sleeper, ballast, subgrade and embankment, two categories of numerical analyses are performed by considering the new substructure systems including type A (initiation of stress overlap areas in adjacent sleepers from the ballast layer) or type B (initiation of stress overlap areas in adjacent sleepers from the subgrade layer). A comprehensive sensitivity analyses are performed on effective parameters such as ballast height, sleepers spacing and sleeper width. The results indicate that the stiffness of subgrade, embankment and foundation increased by increasing the ballast height. Also, by increasing the ballast height, rail and ballast vertical displacement decreased.
