  • This study was designed to compare various quality characteristics, such as nutrient composition and physicochemical and sensory properties of freeze-concentrated milk made by a newly developed continuous multi-stage process with those of evaporated milk. The freeze concentration process reduced the water content up to 73%. Most of the physicochemical properties of evaporated milk were different from raw milk; however the freeze-concentrated milk showed little difference from the raw milk. The thiobarbituric acid value and free fatty acid concentrations were significantly greater in the evaporated milk than in the freeze-concentrated milk. Several effects on sensory characteristics, such as off-taste, were significantly stronger in the evaporated milk. Overall, this study indicates that the newly developed freeze concentration technique results in improved physicochemical and sensory properties, and has little effect on most nutrient levels when compared with the evaporation process. Further research is necessary to further elucidate the chemical and sensory properties of freeze-concentrated milk.

  • Rapid prototyping(RP) has been used for design verification and proto sample or mold manufacturing. Many RP systems have been introduced into the market during the past 15 years. However, until now, the systems have used mainly for external physical models (mono function), and have the basic but critical limitation of one material on one stage (mono material). To overcome the limitations of mono-material and mono-function of conventional. RP systems, the concept of Functional Phototype Development (FPD) is newly proposed in this paper FPD provides the necessary prototype functions such as mechanical, optical, chemical and electrical properties in order to meet the broad requirements of the industry. The paper illustrates the representative achievements of electronic components such as the multi-layer printed circuit board(MLB). Experimental results demonstrate that FPD has great potential applied to broad industrial uses and that It Will be a powerful tool in the neat future.

  • In this paper, a computer simulationtechnique for the forging process having a spring-attached die was presented . The penalty rigid-thermoviscoplastic finite element method was empolyed together with an interatively force-balancing method, in which the convergence was achieved when the forming load and the spring reaction force are in equilibrium within the user-specified allowable accuracy. The force balance was controled by adjusting the velocity of the spring-attched die. th minimize the number of internations, a velocity estimating schemewas proposed. Two application examples found in the related company were given. In the first application example, the predicted metal folw lines were compared with the acturally forged ones. in the second example, a hot forging process with a spring-attached die was simulated and the analyzed results were discussed in order to investigated the effects of spring-attached dies on the metal flow lines and the forming loads.

  • The cross sectional shape of intermediate die is one of important parameters to improve dimensional accuracy of final product in shaped drawing process. Until now, it has been designed by the experience or trial and error of the expert. In this study, the cross sectional shape of intermediate die for spline shape is determined by the electric fields analysis and scale factor method. The result of the electric fields analysis and scale factor method have been compared with that of the expert method. The effects of cross sectional shape on the dimensional accuracy were investigated by using FE-simulation. And then the multi-stage shaped drawing experiments were performed to verify the results of FE-simulation. As a result, the cross sectional shape from the electric fields analysis and scale factor method had the good dimensional accuracy. These two methods can be used for the method to obtain the cross sectional shape of intermediate die in shaped drawing process.

  • This study presents a study on the influence of process parameters(semi-die angle, die reduction, friction condition, and bearing length) in drawn wire on residual stresses were investigated using FE-analysis. In this study, semi-die angle and die reduction have a significant effect on the residual stresses at the surface of drawn wire. In the previous study, in order to reduce the residual stresses, several methods were suggested: addition of axial tension, application of skin pass, straightening in multi-roll straightener etc. In this study, it can be known that the concurrent application of skin pass with low die reduction and low semi-die angle at the final stage of drawing operation reduces dramatically the both axial and hoop residual stresses after drawing.

  • The photovoltaic ribbon attached the flux reduces the solar module manufacturing process and the pollution. This paper presents an analytical method for solving the continuous flux drying system of photovoltaic ribbon. Also, some experiments of the drying of photovoltaic ribbon are carried out in order to design the drying system. Numerical results indicate the air temperature, the air velocity, the air pressure and the timewise temperature variation of ribbon during drying process. In case of the drier process length is short, 400mm, the photovoltaic ribbon is wet. Thus, another study of drying system is necessary to improve the drying ability. As a result, multi-stage drier system is proposed and shown to be good drying ability.

  • Most of the stellar mass accretes during the early evolutionary stage of protostars. However, the accretion process in protostars is in a veil of the thick envelope. Monitoring the submillimeter emission from the envelope is a way to trace the accretion process in protostars since the submillimeter emission linearly responses to the temperature of the envelope, which is heated by the accretion process at the center. In the JCMT transient Survey, we detected a submillimeter variable, EC 53. EC 53 is a Class 1 protostar that was known to have a periodic variation at NIR. EC 53 has been monitored with United Kingdom InfraRed Telescope (UKIRT), Liverpool telescope, and JCMT/SCUBA-2 since we detected the 850 ㎛ flux enhancement in the JCMT transient survey. We also adopt the photometric data sets of Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE). Over all wavelengths from NIR to submillimeter, we see two modes of variation, a 1.5-years periodic variation and a long-term increase. We present the light curves of EC 53 at multi-wavelengths and discuss the cause of variability in EC 53.

  • In this paper, a 64b small-area MTP memory IP is designed. A VPPL (=VPP/3) regulator and a VNN (=VNN/3) charge pump are removed since the inhibit voltages of an MTP memory cell are all 0V instead of the conventional voltages of VPP/3 and VNN/3. Also, a VPP charge pump is removed since the VPP program voltage is supplied from an external pad. Furthermore, a VNN charge pump is designed to provide its voltage of -VPP as a one-stage negative charge pump using the VPP voltage. The layout size of the designed 64b MTP memory IP with MagnaChip's $0.18{\mu}m$ BCD process is $377.585{\mu}m{\times}328.265{\mu}m$ (=0.124mm2). Its DC-DC converter related layout size is 76.4 percent smaller than its conventional counterpart.

  • In this study, we have investigated solvent extraction of Ga and recovery of high pure Ga solution from MOCVD dust for manufacturing of LED chip. Effect of extractan, concentration of extractant were examined for choosing the more effective extractant and high pure Ga solution was fabricated by multi-stage extraction/stripping process. For extraction/separation of Ga based on the analysis of raw-material in previous study, 3 different extractants PC 99A, DP-8R, Cyanex 272 has been investigated and the extraction efficiency of 1.5 M Cyanex 272 was 43.8%. It was conformed that extraction efficiency of Ga was 83% in multi-stage extraction and 5N high purity Ga stripping solution without impurities also obtained.

  • This paper proposes an algorithm for transmit antenna selection in a multi-input multi-output(MIMO) spatial multiplexing system with per antenna rate control(PARC) and an ordered successive interference cancellation (OSIC) receiver. The active antenna subset is determined at the receiver and conveyed to the transmitter using feedback information on transmission rate per antenna. We propose a serial decision procedure consisting of a successive process that tests whether antenna selection gain exists when the antenna with the lowest pre-processing signal to interference and noise ratio(SINR) is discarded at each stage. Furthermore, we show that 'reverse detection ordering', whereby the signal with the lowest SINR is decoded at each stage of successive decoding, widens the disparities among fractions of the whole capacity allocated to each individual antenna and thus maximizes a gain of antenna selection. Numerical results show that the proposed reverse detection ordering based serial antenna selection approaches the closed-loop MIMO capacity and that it induces a negligible capacity loss compared with the heuristic selection strategy even with considerably reduced complexity.
