대형 와 모사를 통한 레이놀즈 수 증가에 따른 혼합 탱크 내의 유동 구조의 연구 (The study of Flow Structure in a Mixing Tank for Different Reynolds Numbers Using LES)

  • The stirred tank reactor is one of the most commonly used devices in industry for achieving mixing and reaction. Here we report on results obtained from the large eddy simulations of flow inside the tank performed using a spectral multi-domain technique. The computations were driven by specifying the impeller-induced flow at the blade tip radius. Stereoscopic PlY measurements (Hill et al. $^{(1)}$) along with the theoretical model of the impeller-induced flow (Yoon et al. $^{(2)}$) were used in defining the impeller-induced flow as superposition of circumferential, jet and tip vortex pair components. Large eddy simulation of flow in a stirred tank was carried out for the three different Reynolds numbers of 4000, 16000 and 64000. The effect of different Reynolds numbers is well observed in both instantaneous and time averaged flow fields. The instantaneous and mean vortex structures are identified by plotting an isosurfaces of swirling strength for all Reynolds numbers. The Reynolds number dependency of the non-dimensional eddy viscosity, resolved scale and subgrid scale dissipations is clearly shown in this study.

  • The planarization technology of Chemical-mechanical polishing(CMP), used for the manufacturing of multi-layer various material interconnects for Large-scale Integrated Circuits (LSI), is also readily adaptable as an enabling technology in MicroElectroMechanical System (MEMS) fabrication, particularly polysilicon surface micromachining. However, general LSI device CMP has partly distinction aspects, the pattern scale and material sorts in comparison with MEMS CMP. This study performed preliminary CMP tests to identify slurry characteristic used in general IC device. The experiment result is possible to verify slurry characteristic in MEMS structure material.

  • Recently, the issue of ship nitration due to the large scale, high speed and lightweight of ship is emerging. For pleasantness in the cabin, shipbuilders are asked for strict vibration criteria and the degree of nitration level at a deckhouse became an important condition for taking order from customers. This study proposes a new optimization framework that is NASTRAN external call type optimization method (OptShip) and applies to an optimum design to decrease the nitration level of a deckhouse. The merits of this method are capable of using of global searching method and selecting of various objective function and design variables. The global optimization algorithms used here are random tabu search method which has fast converging speed and searches various size domains and genetic algorithm which searches multi-point solutions and has a good search capability in a complex space. By adapting OptShip to full-scale model, the validity of the suggested method was investigated.

  • A pressurized vessel-pipe-safety valve (PVPSV) combination is a commonly used configuration in nuclear power plants, and a good numerical model is essential for the system design, sizing and performance optimization. However, owing to the large-scale and cross-scale features, it is still a challenge to build a system level numerical model with both high accuracy and efficiency. To overcome this, a novel system level modeling method which can synthesize the advantages of various models is proposed in this paper. For system modeling, the analytical approach, the method of characteristics (MOC) and the surrogate model approach are respectively adopted to predict the dynamics of the pressure vessel, the connecting pipe and the safety valve, and different models are connected through data interfaces. With this system model, dynamic simulations were carried out and both the stable and the unstable system responses were obtained. For the model verification purpose, the simulation results were compared with those obtained from experiments and full CFD simulations. A good agreement and a better efficiency were obtained, verifying the ability of the model and the feasibility of the modeling method proposed in this paper.

Mechanical properties of new stainless steel-aluminum alloy composite joint in tower structures

  • Tower structures have been widely used in communication and transmission engineering. The failure of joints is the leading cause of structure failure, which make it play a crucial role in tower structure engineering. In this study, the aluminum alloy three tube tower structure is taken as the prototype, and the middle joint of the tower was selected as the research object. Three different stainless steel-aluminum alloy composite joints (SACJs), denoted by TA, TB and TC, were designed. Finite element (FE) modeling analysis was used to compare and determine the TC joint as the best solution. Detail requirements of fasteners in the TC stainless steel-aluminum alloy composite joint (TC-SACJ) were designed and verified. In order to systematically and comprehensively study the mechanical properties of TC-SACJ under multi-directional loading conditions, the full-scale experiments and FE simulation models were all performed for mechanical response analysis. The failure modes, load-carrying capacities, and axial load versus displacement/stain testing curves of all full-scale specimens under tension/compression loading conditions were obtained. The results show that the maximum vertical displacement of aluminum alloy tube is 26.9mm, and the maximum lateral displacement of TC-SACJs is 1.0 mm. In general, the TC-SACJs are in an elastic state under the design load, which meet the design requirements and has a good safety reserve. This work can provide references for the design and engineering application of aluminum alloy tower structures.

  • 의료분야에서 질환별 유병률 차이로 인한 데이터 수적 불균형은 흔하게 발생되는 문제로 인공지능 학습 성능을 저하시켜 개발의 어려움을 초래한다. 최근 이러한 데이터 수적 불균형문제를 해결하기 위한 한 방법으로 적대적 생성 신경망(GAN) 기술이 도입되었고 다양한 분야에 성공적으로 적용되어왔다. 그러나 수적 불균형에 의해 저하된 성능 문제를 해결하는데 있어서 기존 연구들의 영상 해상도가 아직 충분하지 않고 영상 내 구조가 전역적으로 일관성 있게 모델링 되지 않아 좋은 결과를 얻기 어렵다. 본 논문에서는, 흉부 X선 영상 데이터의 수적 불균형문제를 해결하기 위하여 고해상도 영상을 생성할 수 있는 주목 메커니즘 기반 멀티 스케일 조건부 적대적 생성 네트워크를 제안한다. 해당 네트워크는 질환제어 조건변수에 의해 하나의 네트워크만으로 다양한 질환 영상을 생성할 수 있어 각 클래스별로 학습을 하는 비효율성을 줄였고, 자기 주목 메커니즘을 통해 영상 내 장거리 종속성 문제를 해결하였다.

극후물재 용접부 내부잔류응력 측정기술 및 특성 (Characteristic and Measurement Technology of Inner Welding Residual Stresses in Thick Steel Structures)

  • Recent keywords of the heavy industries are large-scale structure and productivity. Especially, the sizes of the commercial vessels and the offshore structures have been gradually increased to deliver goods and explore or produce oil and natural gas in the Arctic. High heat input welding processes such as electro gas welding (EGW) have been widely used for welding thick steel plates with flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), especially in the shipbuilding industries. Because high heat input welding may cause the detrimental effects on the fracture toughness of the welded joint and the heat affected zone, it is essential to obtain the sufficient toughness of welded joint. There are well known that the fracture toughness like CTOD, CVN, and KIC were very important factors in order to secure the safety of the structures. Furthermore, the welding residual stress should be considered to estimate the unstable fracture in both EGW and FCAW. However, there are no references on the welding residual stress distribution of EGW and FCAW with thick steel plates. Therefore the welding residual stresses were very important elements to evaluate the safety of the welded structure. Based on the measurement results, the characteristics of residual stress distribution through thickness were compared between one-pass electron gas welding and multi-pass flux-cored arc welding. The longitudinal residual stress in the multi-pass flux-cored arc welding is tensile through all thicknesses in the welding fusion zone. Meanwhile, longitudinal residual stress of EGW is tensile on both surfaces and compressive at the inside of the plate. The magnitude of residual stresses by electron gas welding is lower than that by flux-cored arc welding.

  • 본 연구에서는 건물 외벽 태양광 발전 통합 시스템(BIPV: Building Integrated Photovoltaic System)용 컬러 유리의 구조를 제안하고 이를 구현하기 위한 공정 기술을 개발하였다. 굴절률 값이 다른 두 종류의 산화 금속 박막을 집적함으로써 투과도가 우수하면서도 서로 다른 컬러를 구현할 수 있음을 파동광학에 기반한 전산모사를 통해서 확인하였다. 선택된 구조를 구현하기 위해 RF Magnetron 증착 방법을 통해 목표로 하는 두께를 균일하게 얻을 수 있는 공정을 개발하였다. 실험 시편에 대한 광학적 분석을 전산모사 결과와 비교하여 분석한 결과, 원하는 컬러 유리를 랩 스케일에서 안정적으로 구현할 수 있음을 알 수 있었으며, 상온에서 일주일 이상의 안정성을 갖는 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 기술은 BIPV 건축물을 구축하는 데에 유용할 것으로 기대된다.

항공사진과 KOMPSAT EOC 위성영상으로부터 도시지역의 토지피복 변화 검출 (The Land Cover Change Detection of an Urban Area from Aerial Photos and KOMPSAT EOC Satellite Imagery)

  • This study presents the application of aerial photographs and KOMPSAT-1 Electro-Optical Camera(EOC) imagery in detecting the change of an urban area that has been rapidly growing. For the study, we used multi-time images which were acquired by two different sensors. For all of the images, the coordinate reference system and scale were first made identical through the 1st and 2nd geometric corrections and then image resampling were carried out to spatial resolution of 7m to detect changes under the same conditions. The Image Differencing was employed as a change detection technique. It was confirmed to be able to detect the changes of terrestrial surface like building, structure and road features from aerial photos and KOMPSAT EOC images with single band. The changes could be detected to some extent with the images acquired from different kinds of sensors as well as the same kinds of sensors.

Go와 C++ TBB의 병렬처리 비교 (Comparison of Go and C++ TBB on Parallel Processing)

  • Applying concurrent structure and parallel processing are a common issue for these day's programs. In this research, Dynamic Programming is used to compare the parallel performance of Go language and Intel C++ Thread Building Blocks. The experiment was performed on 4 core machine and its result contains execution time under Simultaneous Multi-Threading environment. Static Optimal Binary Search Tree was used as an example. From the result, the speed-up of Go was higher than the number of cores, and that of TBB was close to it. TBB performed better in general, but for larger scale, Go was partially faster than the other.
