The assessment of sound quality of loudspeaker system by using factor analysis and muliti-dimensional scaling (인자분석과 다효원척를 이용한 스피이커의 음질평가)

  • The objective data and subjective data correlated in order to rate sound quality of loudspeaker system and these data were analyzed by the Factor Analysis and Multi-Dimensioinal Scaling. The dimensions yielded Factor Analysis were interpreted as "Contrast", "Metallic", "Rich", "Present" and their relation to physical variables were explored by studying the positions of loudspeaker systems in the respective dimension. When the subjective similarity degree of loudspeaker systems was compared with the objective similarity degree of loudspeaker systems by Multi-Dimensional Scaling, the similarity degree of sound pressure response in the listening room closely coincided with the subjective similarity degree regardless of sound source. This result implies the necessity of measurements taken not only in an anechoic room but also in a listening room in order to rate sound quality of loudspeaker systems.

Multi-Gbit/s Digital I/O Interface Based on RF-Modulation and Capacitive Coupling

  • We present a multi-Gbit/s digital I/O interface based on RF-modulation and capacitive-coupling over an impedance matched transmission line. The RF-interconnect(RFI) can greatly reduce the digital switching noise and eliminate the dc power dissipation over the channel. It also enables reduced signal amplitude(as low as 200 ㎷) with enhanced data rate and affordable circuit overhead. This paper addresses the system advantages and implementation issues of RFI. A prototype on-chip RFI transceiver is implemented in 0.18-${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS. It demonstrates a maximum data rate of 2.2 Gbit/s via 10.5-㎓ RF-modulation. The RFI can be very instrumental for future high-speed inter- and intra-ULSI data links.

Improvement of Tidal Circulation in a Closed Bay using Variation of Bottom Roughness (해저조도 변화를 이용한 폐쇄성 만의 해수순환 개선)

  • Tidal circulation in a closed bay using a variation of bottom roughness was investigated through the numerical experiments based on a finite difference multi-level model. Various distributions of bottom roughness in the bay were implemented to determine their effects. It hadbeen determined that residual currents can be generated from the differences of the bottom roughness between streaming and reverse flow directions. The magnitude of residual currents and volume flow rate increase when the relative ratio of bottom roughness between streaming and reverse flow directions increase. Circulation in the closed bay is also improved by the employment of the change of bottom roughness.

Video coding based on wavelet transform for very low bitrate channel (웨이브릿 변환을 사용한 초저속 전송 매체용 비디오 코딩)

  • The video coding for very low bit rate has recently received considerable attention, but conventional block based transform coding schemes suffer from the blocking effect for the constraints of bit rates. In this paper, we present a video coding sysem suing multi-resolution motion estimation/compensation with variable size block(VMRME/C) and multi-resolution vector quantization(MRVQ) in wavelet transform domain for very low bit rate coding. It is shown that the presented scheme has better performance in the peak signal-to-nose ratio(RSNR) by 0.2-0.6 dB as well as subjective quality than that of conventional block based transform video coding techniques(especially, H. 263 which is DCT based video coding).

Improved Dynamic Subjective Logic Model with Evidence Driven

  • In Jøsang's subjective logic, the fusion operator is not able to fuse three or more opinions at a time and it cannot consider the effect of time factors on fusion. Also, the base rate (a) and non-informative prior weight (C) could not change dynamically. In this paper, we propose an Improved Subjective Logic Model with Evidence Driven (ISLM-ED) that expands and enriches the subjective logic theory. It includes the multi-agent unified fusion operator and the dynamic function for the base rate (a) and the non-informative prior weight (C) through the changes in evidence. The multi-agent unified fusion operator not only meets the commutative and associative law but is also consistent with the researchers's cognitive rules. A strict mathematical proof was given by this paper. Finally, through the simulation experiments, the results show that the ISLM-ED is more reasonable and effective and that it can be better adapted to the changing environment.

  • Organic thin films were fabricated an using interelectrode capacitively coupled type plasma polymerizaion apparatus, and their optical properties were investigated. A deposition rate of styrene thin films is linearly increased, but one or vinyl-pyridine thin films is nonlinearly increased with increasing of polymerization time, pressure and monomer flow rate. The transmittance of single layer thin films is constant, but that of multi-layer appeared irregular peak with increasing of the number of layers. And then the refractive index of organic thin films is various from 1.55 to 1.65 with wavelength, the extinction coefficient indicated $10^{-3}$.

Electric Load Signature Analysis for Home Energy Monitoring System

  • This paper focuses on identifying which appliance is currently operating by analyzing electrical load signature for home energy monitoring system. The identification framework is comprised of three steps. Firstly, specific appliance features, or signatures, were chosen, which are DC (Duty Cycle), SO (Slope of On-state), VO (Variance of On-state), and ZC (Zero Crossing) by reviewing observations of appliances from 13 houses for 3 days. Five appliances of electrical rice cooker, kimchi-refrigerator, PC, refrigerator, and TV were chosen for the identification with high penetration rate and total operation-time in Korea. Secondly, K-NN and Naive Bayesian classifiers, which are commonly used in many applications, are employed to estimate from which appliance the signatures are obtained. Lastly, one of candidates is selected as final identification result by majority voting. The proposed identification frame showed identification success rate of 94.23%.

  • 최근 기계 임무수행에 사용되는 데이터양이 증가함에 따라 기계를 위한 효율적인 영상 압축방식의 필요성이 높아졌다. 기존의 비디오 코덱은 HVS (Human Visual System) 특성을 고려한 기술이기 때문에 부호화 과정에서 기계 임무수행에 필요하지 않은 정보를 효과적으로 제거할 수 없다. 반면 심층신경망 기반 압축네트워크의 경우, 원본 영상으로부터 기계 임무수행에 필수적인 데이터만을 추출하여 부호화 하도록 학습할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 압축 심층신경망과 기계 임무수행 네트워크로 구성되는 VCM (Video Coding for Machine) 프레임워크를 제안하고 학습에 의한 압축효율 향상을 검증한다. 이를 위해 압축 심층신경망을 객체탐지 임무수행 네트워크와 함께 학습시킨 결과, VVC (Versatile Video Coding) 대비 평균 61.16%의 BD-rate 감소가 확인되었다. 뿐만 아니라, 학습된 압축 심층신경망은 객체분할 임무수행에서도 VVC 대비 평균 58.43%의 BD-rate 감소를 보여 다중 기계 임무의 효율적 수행이 가능함을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • In this paper, we consider a multi-factor, multi-cause decision making problem of supply chain. And we show how to measure the operational efficiency of the components in supply chain and also how to improve the efficiency of each component and whole supply chain. As a methodology, the data envelopment analysis (DEA) is adopted to measure the efficiency by considering weight factors such as flexibility, information sharing, logistics level, etc. The proposed algorithm allows whole supply chain to have the improved efficiency rate.

  • Resource-constrained project scheduling is to allocate limited resources to activities to optimize certain objective functions and to determine a start time for each activity in the project such that precedence constraints and resource requirements are satisfied. This study suggests a multi-project scheduling model which can level work loads, make the most of production capacity and restrain the delay of delivery by developing a heuristic algorithm which minimizes the project completion time and maximizes the load rate under resource constraints.
