Recently there has arisen concern in both the database community and the graphics society about data retrieval from large motion databases because the high dimensionality of motion data implies high costs. In this circumstance, finding an effective distance measure and an efficient query processing method for such data is a challenging problem. This paper presents an elaborate motion query processing system, SMoFinder (Similar Motion Finder), which incorporates a novel kinematic distance measure and an efficient indexing strategy via adaptive frame segmentation. To this end, we regard human motions as multi-linkage kinematics and propose the weighted Minkowski distance metric. For efficient indexing, we devise a new adaptive segmentation method that chooses representative frames among similar frames and stores chosen frames instead of all frames. For efficient search, we propose a new search method that processes k-nearest neighbors queries over only representative frames. Our experimental results show that the size of motion databases is reduced greatly (${\times}1/25$) but the search capability of SMoFinder is equal to or superior to that of other systems.

With the development of remote sensing sensor technology, it has become possible to acquire satellite images with various spectral information. In particular, since the hyperspectral image is composed of continuous and narrow spectral wavelength, it can be effectively used in various fields such as land cover classification, target detection, and environment monitoring. Change detection techniques using remote sensing data are generally performed through differences of data with same dimensions. Therefore, it has a disadvantage that it is difficult to apply to heterogeneous sensors having different dimensions. In this study, we have developed a change detection method applicable to hyperspectral image and high spat ial resolution satellite image with different dimensions, and confirmed the applicability of the change detection method between heterogeneous images. For the application of the change detection method, the dimension of hyperspectral image was reduced by using correlation analysis and principal component analysis, and the change detection algorithm used CVA. The ROC curve and the AUC were calculated using the reference data for the evaluation of change detection performance. Experimental results show that the change detection performance is higher when using the image generated by adequate dimensionality reduction than the case using the original hyperspectral image.

In this study, we introduce ASM-based face recognition classifier and its design methodology with the aid of 2-dimensional 2-directional hybird preprocessing algorithm. Since the image of face recognition is easily affected by external environments, ASM(active shape model) as image preprocessing algorithm is used to resolve such problem. In particular, ASM is used widely for the purpose of feature extraction for human face. After extracting face image area by using ASM, the dimensionality of the extracted face image data is reduced by using $(2D)^2$hybrid preprocessing algorithm based on LDA and PCA. Face image data through preprocessing algorithm is used as input data for the design of the proposed polynomials based radial basis function neural network. Unlike as the case in existing neural networks, the proposed pattern classifier has the characteristics of a robust neural network and it is also superior from the view point of predictive ability as well as ability to resolve the problem of multi-dimensionality. The essential design parameters (the number of row eigenvectors, column eigenvectors, and clusters, and fuzzification coefficient) of the classifier are optimized by means of ABC(artificial bee colony) algorithm. The performance of the proposed classifier is quantified through yale and AT&T dataset widely used in the face recognition.
It is essential in various application areas of data mining and bioinformatics to effectively retrieve the occurrences of interesting patterns from sequence databases. For example, let's consider a network event management system that records the types and timestamp values of events occurred in a specific network component(ex. router). The typical query to find out the temporal casual relationships among the network events is as fellows: 'Find all occurrences of CiscoDCDLinkUp that are fellowed by MLMStatusUP that are subsequently followed by TCPConnectionClose, under the constraint that the interval between the first two events is not larger than 20 seconds, and the interval between the first and third events is not larger than 40 secondsTCPConnectionClose. This paper proposes an indexing method that enables to efficiently answer such a query. Unlike the previous methods that rely on inefficient sequential scan methods or data structures not easily supported by DBMSs, the proposed method uses a multi-dimensional spatial index, which is proven to be efficient both in storage and search, to find the answers quickly without false dismissals. Given a sliding window W, the input to a multi-dimensional spatial index is a n-dimensional vector whose i-th element is the interval between the first event of W and the first occurrence of the event type Ei in W. Here, n is the number of event types that can be occurred in the system of interest. The problem of‘dimensionality curse’may happen when n is large. Therefore, we use the dimension selection or event type grouping to avoid this problem. The experimental results reveal that our proposed technique can be a few orders of magnitude faster than the sequential scan and ISO-Depth index methods.hods.

This study explores the effectiveness of various data preprocessing algorithms for improving subseasonal to seasonal (S2S) climate predictions from six climate forecast models and their Multi-Model Ensemble (MME) using a deep learning-based postprocessing model. A pipeline of data transformation algorithms was constructed to convert raw S2S prediction data into the training data processed with several statistical distribution. A dimensionality reduction algorithm for selecting features through rankings of correlation coefficients between the observed and the input data. The training model in the study was designed with TimeDistributed wrapper applied to all convolutional layers of U-Net: The TimeDistributed wrapper allows a U-Net convolutional layer to be directly applied to 5-dimensional time series data while maintaining the time axis of data, but every input should be at least 3D in U-Net. We found that Robust and Standard transformation algorithms are most suitable for improving S2S predictions. The dimensionality reduction based on feature selections did not significantly improve predictions of daily precipitation for six climate models and even worsened predictions of daily maximum and minimum temperatures. While deep learning-based postprocessing was also improved MME S2S precipitation predictions, it did not have a significant effect on temperature predictions, particularly for the lead time of weeks 1 and 2. Further research is needed to develop an optimal deep learning model for improving S2S temperature predictions by testing various models and parameters.
This study tries to explain the relationships among omni-channel service characteristics, utilitarian/hedonic shopping value, and reuse intention. We derive instant connectivity, localization, consistency, integration, privacy risk as omni-channel service characteristics from previous studies and collect data from 190 omni-channel service users. The major findings are as follows. First, localization, consistency, and privacy risk have a significant effect on utilitarian shopping value but no significant effect on hedonic shopping value. Second, instant connectivity and integration have a positive effect on both utilitarian and hedonic value. Third, utilitarian and hedonic shopping value have a positive effect on reuse intention. This study extends the scope of omni-channel consumer behaviors by focusing on multi-dimensionality of shopping value. The results of this research can provide useful implications for practitioners to build successful strategies on omni-channel service.

The complexity and expensiveness of water resources projects have made optimum operation and design by computer-based techniques of increasing interest in recent years. Water resources problems in real world need many decisions under numerous constraints. In addition there are nonlinearities in the state and return function. This mathematical and technical troublesome must be overcome so that the optimum operation polices are determined. Then traditional dynamic optimization method encountered two major-cruxes: variable discretization and appearance of constraints. Even several recent methods which based on the Differential Dynamic Programming(DDP) have some difficulties in handling of constraints. This paper has presented New DDP which is applicable to multi-reservoir control. It is intended that the method suggested here is superior to abailable alternatives. This belief is supported by analysis and experiments(New DDT does not suffer course of dimensionality and requires no discretization and is able to handle easily all constraints nonlinearity).

A numerical work was performed to study the flow behaviors of the open channel type flow with its geometric boundary conditions being similar to that of the Multi-Stage-Flash evaporator with and without a baffle. For the analysis, two-dimensional steady turbulent flow was assumed and the widely known k-.epsilon. turbulence model was usded. SIMPLE algorithm and the power difference scheme were used for the numerical approach. Numerical results generally agree with the previous experimental results though there are some uncertainties at far downstream and near the free surface due to the three dimensionality of the flow and surface waves. Without a baffle, the flow has basically the shape of the submerged plane wall jet with its upper boundary at downstream being sharply curved toward the free surface. For the flow with a baffle, recirculation flow patterns are observed at the upper inlet portion and at the backside of the baffle. For the case without a baffle, it was also confirmed that the ratio between the liquid level and the gate opening height is the most important parameter to determine the flow behavior.

Intelligent vehicle plans motion and navigate itself based on the surrounding environment perception. Hence, the precise environment recognition is an essential part of self-driving vehicle. There exist many vulnerable road users (e.g. vehicle, pedestrians) on vehicular driving environment, the vehicle must percept all the dynamic obstacles accurately for safety. In this paper, we propose an multiple vehicle tracking algorithm using microwave radar. Our proposed system includes various special features. First, exceptional radar measurement model for vehicle, concentrated on the corner, is described by mixture density network (MDN), and applied to particle filter weighting. Also, to conquer the curse of dimensionality of particle filter and estimate the time-varying number of multi-target states, reversible jump markov chain monte carlo (RJMCMC) is used to sampling step of the proposed algorithm. The robustness of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated through several computer simulations.

In recent years, many research efforts have been made on privacy-preserving data mining (PPDM) in data of large volume. In this paper, we propose a PPDM solution based on principal component analysis (PCA), which can be widely used in computing correlation among sensitive data sets. The general method of computing PCA is to collect all the data spread in multiple nodes into a single node before starting the PCA computation; however, this approach discloses sensitive data of individual nodes, involves a large amount of computation, and incurs large communication overheads. To solve the problem, in this paper, we present an efficient method that securely computes PCA without the need to collect all the data. The proposed method shares only limited information among individual nodes, but obtains the same result as that of the original PCA. In addition, we present a dimensionality reduction technique for the proposed method and use it to improve the performance of secure similar document detection. Finally, through various experiments, we show that the proposed method effectively and efficiently works in a large amount of multi-dimensional data.
