다수 캐비티의 사출성형품에서 충전의 불균형과 성형품 치수 편차의 교찰 (Investigation of the Filling Unbalance and Dimensional Variations in Multi-Cavity Injection Molded Parts)

  • 렌즈나 휴대폰 부품 같은 소형 플라스틱 부품들은 일반적으로 다수 캐비티 사출금형에서 성형된다. 이러한 다수 캐비티 금형에서의 사출성형은 캐비티간의 충전 불균형이 일어날 수 있다. 이러한 충전 불균형 현상은 제품의 치수 및 중량의 편차뿐 아니라 제품의 물리적 특성에도 영향을 미친다. 충전 불균형은 무엇보다도 기하학적으로 균형 잡히지 않은 delivery system의 설계에서 기인된다. 하지만 delivery system이 기하학적으로 균형 있게 설계가 되었다 하더라도 충전 불균형 현상은 여전히 발생된다. 이러한 현상은 런너 단면에서의 온도분포에 기인하며 사출성형 공정 중 사출속도에 크게 영향을 받는 것으로 본 연구에서 파악되었다. 즉 충전 불균형은 부적절한 사출 성형 공정에 의해 발생되며 성형 공정 조건 중 사출속도는 충전에 영향을 주는 매우 중요한 요소이다. 본 연구에서는 재료와 사출 속도에 따른 충전 불균형 현상을 실험과 CAE을 통하여 관찰하였다. 사출속도 변화에 따른 충전 불균형 때문에 시편의 치수 및 무게가 불균일함을 확인하였다.

  • A multi-cavity injection mold system of protein chip for point-of-care with cavity temperature and pressure sensors was proposed in this work. In advance of manufacturing for the multi-cavity injection mold system, a single cavity injection mold system to mold protein chip was considered. Injection molding analysis for the presented system was performed to optimize the process of the molding and suggest guides to design. On the basis of the results for the single cavity system, a multi-cavity injection mold system for protein chip was analyzed, designed and manufactured with cavity temperature and pressure sensors. Results of balanced filling for protein chip models were obtained from the presented mold system.

  • The paper presents our study of development for multi-cavity preform mold system which consists of hot runner system and valve gate. For this purpose, stretching blow molding process and preform injection process were simulated by Polyflow and Moldflow. Based on various results of the preform injection process analysis, process planning was established. The sectional thickness distribution of preform was optimized. Preform injection mold system was designed by these technical analysis data. Finally, 24-cavity preform mold system was successfully developed.

  • Flow imbalance among the cavities was often observed in multi-cavity mold. The flow imbalance affects on the dimensions and physical properties of molded articles. First of all, the origin of flow imbalance is geometrical imbalance of delivery system. However, even the geometry of delivery system is balanced the cavity imbalance is being developed. This comes from the temperature distribution in the cross-section of runner, which is affected by the operational conditions. In this study, experimental study of flow imbalance has been conducted for various injection speeds. This study also suggests new runner design to eliminate flow imbalance in multi-cavity injection mold. Simulation and experimental results showed suggested new designed runner could eliminate or reduce flow imbalance in multi-cavity injection mold.

  • Recently, the need of thin-walled injection molding and enhancement of its productivity is greatly increased. In this study, we designed and manufactured a injection molding system, which can mold a part with the thickness of $500{\mu}m$ and 8 cavity. And processing technique for the multi-cavity injection molding system, which is capable of mass productivity on the plastic parts, was considered. The problems of unbalance/imbalance on the molding process for the multi-cavity mold were predicted by numerical analysis using plastic injection molding commercial code. In addition, controllable system of melt front filling was introduced for a balanced filling using the mold temperature sensor on injection mold. It was shown that balanced filling with the suggested injection molding system was possible for $500{\mu}m$ plastic parts with 8 cavity layout.

  • In this study, the thermal performance of multi-story double-skin facade(DSF) with variation of cavity height is evaluated to offer useful data in determining cavity height of multi-story DSF. For this, thermal criteria for multi-story DSF is adopted and a DSF model for evaluation of the thermal performance is established. Through the evaluation of CFD simulation, the recommended height of multi-story DSF is 5 stories or less to improve the thermal performance during the intermediate season.

사출금형의 러너시스템 형상에 따른 충전불균형 유동해석 모델 (Flow Analysis of Filling Imbalance according to Runner Shapes in Injection Mold)

  • Almost all injection molds have multi-cavity runner system for mass production, which are designed with geometrically balanced runner system in order to accomplish filling balance between cavity to cavity during processing; However, even though geometrically balanced runner is used, filling imbalances have been observed. In these day, the CAE has been used widely in injection molding. However, CAE with fusion mesh can't indicate such as jetting, flow mark and filling imbalance in multi cavity mold. In this study, we investigated the filling imbalance according to runner shapes by CAE analysis. As a result in CAE, in case of binary branch runner system, filling imbalance was indicated between cavity to cavity, but the flow pattern of each cavity uniformed in unary branch runner system.

멀티 캐비티 실린더 기어 개발 (The Development of Multi-Cavity Cylindrical Gear)

  • 파워 윈도우 모터 조립부위에서 실린더 기어는 자동차 도어에서 중요한 부분이다. 이 연구는 대량 수입과 6 캐비티 금형 설계를 대체할 자체 제작 기술력 확보를 위해 수행되었다. 이 연구는 5가지 구체적 주제를 두고 작성되었다. 첫째, CAE를 이용해 시작품을 제작하고, 대량생산 제작을 위해 사전에 해석한다. 둘째, 대량생산 금형(2차원 및 3차원)을 설계한다. 셋째, 샘플 금형을 제작한다. 넷째, 3차원 설계제품을 시제작 후 측정한다. 다섯째, 데이터를 해석하고 금형을 수정한다. 이들 연구를 수행하면서 CAE를 사용한 제품샘플과 대량생산의 해석과 다수 캐비티의 샘플 금형의 제작의 연구가 성공적으로 수행되었다. 결과적으로, 핫런너를 사용하는 일점 게이트 및 6 캐비티가 파워 윈도우 모터 용 실린더 기어를 만드는데 가장 적합한 방법임을 알게 되었다.

In order to maximize productivity and molding quality in a injection mold, it is important that each cavity in a multi-cavity injection mold is identical. This requires that cavity dimensions should be identical and delivery system of melt to each cavity have to be the same. Despite the geometrically balanced layout in multi-cavity injection mold more than 4 cavities, it has been observed that the filling in each cavity results in imbalances. Most of cases, this phenomenon of filling imbalances have a bad effect on dimension accuracy, warpage, molding appearance and strength of molding parts. In this study, experiment were conducted to investigate the effect of filling imbalances on the molding quality(surface gloss, shrinkage, tensile strength) in the multy-cavity injection mold.
