  • Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) thin films are used as the Transparent Conducting Oxide (TCO), such as flat panel display, transparent electrodes, solar cell, touch screen, and various optical devices. ZnO has attracted attention as alternative materials to ITO film due to its resource availability, low cost, and good transmittance at the visible region. Recently, very thin film deposition is important. In order to minimize the damage caused by bending. However, ZnO thin film such as Ga-doped ZnO(GZO) has poor sheet resistance characteristics. To solve this problem, By adding the conductive metal on films can decrease the sheet resistance and increase the mobility of the films. In this study, We analyzed the electrical and optical characteristics of GZO/Ag/GZO (GAG) films by change in Ag and GZO thickness.

  • The process of manufacturing printed electronics using printing technology is attracting attention because its process cost is lower than that of the conventional semiconductor process. This technology, which offers both a lower cost and higher productivity, can be applied in the production of organic TFT (thin film transistor), solar cell, RFID(radio frequency identification) tag, printed battery, E-paper, touch screen panel, black matrix for LCD(liquid crystal display), flexible display, and so forth. In general, in order to implement printed electronics, narrow width and gap printing, registration of multi-layer printing by several printing units, and printing accuracy of under $20\;{\mu}m$ are all required. These electronic products require high precision to the degree of tens of microns - in a large area with flexible material, and mass productivity at low cost. As such, the roll-to-roll printing process is attracting attention as a mass production system for these printed electronic devices. For the commercialization of this process, two basic electronic ink technologies, such as conductive ink and polymers, and printing equipment have to be developed. Therefore, this paper addressed basis design and test to develop fine patterning equipment employing the roll-to-roll printing equipment and electronic ink.

A Study on the Improvement of Tearing Artifact for Windows-Based Visual Monitoring Systems (윈도우즈 기반 영상 감시 시스템에서의 Tearing 현상 개선)

  • In display systems employing analog monitors, the tearing artifact such that an window screen is divided into two parts showing different scenes can occur when the change of scenes in the moving pictures is very fast, but the frame buffer's refresh rate does not match the monitor's scanning frequency. It is especially noticeable at high frame rate. DVR system is a recently popularized visual monitoring system. The tearing artifacts becomes more serious since the frame buffer's refresh rate is very high due to the requirement of multi channel display in the DVR. In this paper, we propose an improved display system for windows-based DVR systems which prevents the tearing artifacts without deterioration of display speed performance. The efficiency of the proposed display system is verified through experiments.

Effects of Surface Treatment on Field Emission Properties for Carbon Nanotube Cathodes (탄소나노튜브 캐소드에서 표면처리 방법이 전계방출 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Carbon nanotube cathodes (CNT cathodes) were fabricated by a screen printing method using multi-walled carbon nanotubes. The effects of surface treatment on CNT cathodes were investigated for use in high efficiency field emission displays. The optimum surface treatment for a CNT cathode is dependent on a relative bonding force of CNT films on the cathode after a heat treatment. Because of the high bonding force used in the Liquid method, this method is recommended for CNT cathodes which are heat-treated at $390^{\circ}C$ in a $N_2$ atmosphere. The Rolling method is applicable for CNT cathodes fabricated at $350^{\circ}C$ in an atmosphere of air. The results of this study provide basic criteria for the selection of an appropriate surface treatment for large area CNT cathodes.

  • In this paper, a new touch user interface which is based on the hand operations of dragging and diversion is presented. With it, convenience and quickness for inputting of texts as well as searching and selecting of multi-layered menus are improved. The new interface also applies relative coordinate systems which display texts on the touch positions corresponding to the moving of touch location. It accommodates more text codes than those in conventional fixed coordinate systems which allocates texts to fixed location on touch screen. The suggested interface is implemented to IPTV remote control and set-top box to prove its practicality and effectiveness.

  • TV OSD(On Screen Display) 메뉴 자동검증 시스템에서 다국적 언어의 문자 인식은 표준패턴의 구조적 분석이 쉽지 않을 뿐만 아니라 학습패턴 집합의 규모와 특징의 수가 증가함으로 인하여 특징추출 및 인식 과정에서 방대한 계산량이 요구된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 학습 데이터에 포함되는 다량의 특징 집합으로부터 인식에 필요한 효과적인 특징을 선별함으로써 패턴 분류기의 효율성을 개선하기 위한 방법론을 고찰한다. 이를 위하여 수정된 형태의 Adaboost 기법을 제안하고 이를 적용한 실험 결과로부터 그 유용성을 고찰한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 초기의 특징 집합을 취약한 성능을 갖는 다수의 분류기(classifier)로서 고려하며, 이로부터 반복학습을 통하여 개선된 분류기를 점진적으로 선별해 나가게 된다. 학습의 원리는 주어진 학습패턴 집합에 기초하여 일종의 교사학습(supervised learning) 방식으로 이루어진다. 각 패턴에 할당된 가중치 값은 각 단계에서 산출되는 분류결과에 따라 적응적으로 수정되어 반복학습이 진행됨에 따라 점차 보완적 성능을 갖는 분류기를 선택할 수 있게 한다. 즉, 주어진 각 학습패턴에 대하여 초기에 균등한 가중치가 부여되며, 반복학습의 각 단계에서 적용되는 분류기의 출력을 분석하여 오분류된 패턴의 가중치 분포를 증가시켜 나간다. 본 연구에서는 실제 응용으로서 OSD 메뉴검증 시스템을 대상으로 제안된 이론을 적용하고 그 타당성을 평가한다.

  • 금형 내부의 마모를 줄이기 위한 경질 박막의 안정성 향상과 표면에 인가된 압축 잔류 응력이 고주기 피로 특성에 미치는 영향을 연구하기 위해 정밀 플라스틱 사출 금형강에 주로 사용되는 Fe-3.0%Ni-0.7%Cr-1.4%Mn-X강에 스크린 질화처리와 DLC 코팅을 시간과 단일, 복합처리의 변수를 두어 코팅하였다. PAPVD법으로 DLC($3{\mu}m$), 스크린 질화(3h, $50{\mu}m$)/DLC($3{\mu}m$) 코팅 후 고주기 피로 시험을 행하여 고주기 피로 특성을 평가하였다. 스크래치 시험, 마모 시험, 잔류응력 측정을 통해 질화 처리 여부에 따른 코팅의 안정성을 평가하였다. DLC, 스크린질화/DLC 코팅한 경우 압축 잔류 응력의 영향으로 모두 피로 수명이 향상되었고 스크린질화/DLC 코팅한 경우 그 향상폭은 더 컸다. 질화 처리 후 DLC 코팅한 경우 질화층은 버퍼레이어로 작용하여 코팅의 박리를 억제함을 확인하였다.

The Function of Computer Utilization in Educating and Researching Ocean Engineering Problems

  • Nowadays, the computational capability and graphical power based on PCs increase very rapidly every year. As a result, the complicated engineering or scientific problems that could have only been handled by supercomputers a couple of decades ago can now be routinely run on PCs. Besides, the PCs can be assembled in parallel to increase its computational capability theoretically without limitation. The Web-based interface and communication tools are also being enhanced very rapidly and the real-time distance learning (E-Learning) and project cooperation on web get increasing attention. Using the-state-of-the-art computational method, a number of complicated and computationally intensive problems are being solved by PCs. The results can be well demonstrated on screen by graphics and animation tools. Those examples include the simulations of fully nonlinear waves, their interactions with floating bodies, global-motion analysis of multi-unit floating production system including complicated mooring lines and risers. Several examples will be presented in this regard. Also, Web and java-applet based educational tools have been developed at Texas A&M University for better understanding of waves and wave-body interactions. The background and examples of such Web-based educational tools published in Kim et al. (2003) are briefly introduced here.

  • Recently, there are lots of concerning on the control of multi-agent control system and mixed reality integrating real and virtual environments. In this paper, an integrated agent control system based on mixed reality and mobile environment is proposed. The system consists of a manager, agents, a mapping module, a geographic information module, a WAP server, and a mobile manager. The manager has Hybrid Device Manager(HDM) working for revising images and position data of the agents to display that at the 3D virtual and mobile environments respectively. Especially, the images of the agent is translated to LBM format and displayed on the mobile phone, and the current position of the agent is displayed on the display screen, so that a user are able to control the agent when he is moving. Experimental results shows the proposed system lets us control the agents conveniently at a computer and a mobile phone.

  • In the 21s1 century, it may be possible to offer comprehensive service by integrating all communication media under the development of digital technology without the classification of broadcasting and communication. In addition, it will be begun to perform HDTV broadcasting by focusing on the Metropolitan area in 2001yr and will permit over 100 channels for satellite communication, thus multi-channel TV broadcasting age has come in Korea. Therefore, this study is to identify the future environment of TV broadcasting and service area in ISDB age and to present new interactive type publication satellite TV transmission system, which provides customizing type digital screen book publication, by analyzing satellite broadcasting technology to create Korean cultural area around the Korean peninsula.
