A Control Method of DC Servo Motor Using a Multi-Layered Neural Network (다층 신경회로망을 이용한 DC Servo Motor 제어방법)

  • A neural network has very simple construction (input, output and connection weight) and then it can be robusted against some disturbance. In this paper, we proposed a neuro-controller using a Multi-Layered neural network which is combined with PD controller. The proposed neuro-controller is learned by backpropagation learning rule with momentum and neuro-controller adjusts connection weight in neural network to make approximate dynamic model of DC Servo motor. Computer Simulation results show that the proposed neuro-controller's performance is better than that of origianl PD controller.

Fuzzy-ARTMAP based Multi-User Detection

  • This paper studies the application of a fuzzy-ARTMAP (FAM) neural network to multi-user detector (MUD) for direct sequence (DS)-code division multiple access (CDMA) system. This method shows new solution for solving the problems, such as complexity and long training, which is found when implementing the previously developed neural-basis MUDs. The proposed FAM based MUD is fast and easy to train and includes capabilities not found in other neural network approaches; a small number of parameters, no requirements for the choice of initial weights, automatic increase of hidden units, no risk of getting trapped in local minima, and the capabilities of adding new data without retraining previously trained data. In simulation studies, binary signals were generated at random in a linear channel with Gaussian noise. The performance of FAM based MUD is compared with other neural net based MUDs in terms of the bit error rate.

  • Rainfall is one of the major and complicated elements of hydrologic system. Accurate prediction of rainfall is very important to mitigate storm damage. The neural network is a good model to be applied for the classification problem, large combinatorial optimization and nonlinear mapping. In this dissertation, rainfall predictions by the neural network theory were presented. A multi-layer neural network was constructed. The network learned continuous-valued input and output data. The network was used to predict rainfall. The online, multivariate, short term rainfall prediction is possible by means of the developed model. A multidimensional rainfall generation model is applied to Seoul metropolitan area in order to generate the 10-minute rainfall. Application of neural network to the generated rainfall shows good prediction. Also application of neural network to 1-hour real data in Seoul metropolitan area shows slightly good predictions.

  • Abstract In this paper, we propose a method of cooperative control based on artifical intelligent system in distributed autonomous robotic system. In general, multi-agent behavior algorithm is simple and effective for small number of robots. And multi-robot behavior control is a simple reactive navigation strategy by combining repulsion from obstacles with attraction to a goal. However when the number of robot goes on increasing, this becomes difficult to be realized because multi-robot behavior algorithm provide on multiple constraints and goals in mobile robot navigation problems. As the solution of above problem, we propose an architecture of fuzzy system for each multi-robot speed control and fuzzy-neural network for obstacle avoidance. Here, we propose an architecture of fuzzy system for each multi-robot speed control and fuzzy-neural network for their direction to avoid obstacle. Our focus is on system of cooperative autonomous robots in environment with obstacle. For simulation, we divide experiment into two method. One method is motor schema-based formation control in previous and the other method is proposed by this paper. Simulation results are given in an obstacle environment and in an dynamic environment.

Flexural and axial vibration analysis of beams with different support conditions using artificial neural networks

  • An artificial neural network (ANN) application is presented for flexural and axial vibration analysis of elastic beams with various support conditions. The first three natural frequencies of beams are obtained using multi layer neural network based back-propagation error learning algorithm. The natural frequencies of beams are calculated for six different boundary conditions via direct solution of governing differential equations of beams and Rayleigh's approximate method. The training of the network has been made using these data only flexural vibration case. The trained neural network, however, had been tested for cantilever beam (C-F), and both end free (F-F) in case the axial vibration, and clamped-clamped (C-C), and Guided-Pinned (G-P) support condition in case the flexural vibrations which were not included in the training set. The results found by using artificial neural network are sufficiently close to the theoretical results. It has been demonstrated that the artificial neural network approach applied in this study is highly successful for the purposes of free vibration analysis of elastic beams.

High Speed Precision Control of Mobile Robot using Neural Network in Real Time (신경망을 이용한 이동 로봇의 실시간 고속 정밀제어)

  • In this paper we propose a fast and precise control algorithm for a mobile robot, which aims at the self-tuning control applying two multi-layered neural networks to the structure of computed torque method. Through this algorithm, the nonlinear terms of external disturbance caused by variable task environments and dynamic model errors are estimated and compensated in real time by a long term neural network which has long learning period to extract the non-linearity globally. A short term neural network which has short teaming period is also used for determining optimal gains of PID compensator in order to come over the high frequency disturbance which is not known a priori, as well as to maintain the stability. To justify the global effectiveness of this algorithm where each of the long term and short term neural networks has its own functions, simulations are peformed. This algorithm can also be utilized to come over the serious shortcoming of neural networks, i.e., inefficiency in real time.

  • In order to approximate a nonlinear function, wavelet neural networks combining wavelet theory and neural networks have been proposed as an alterantive to coventional multi-layered neural networks. Wavelet neural networks provide better approximating performance than conventional neural networks. In this paper, an effective method to construct an optimal wavelet neural network is proposed using genetic algorithm. This is verified through experimental results.

Vehicle Image Recognition Using Deep Convolution Neural Network and Compressed Dictionary Learning

  • In this paper, a vehicle recognition algorithm based on deep convolutional neural network and compression dictionary is proposed. Firstly, the network structure of fine vehicle recognition based on convolutional neural network is introduced. Then, a vehicle recognition system based on multi-scale pyramid convolutional neural network is constructed. The contribution of different networks to the recognition results is adjusted by the adaptive fusion method that adjusts the network according to the recognition accuracy of a single network. The proportion of output in the network output of the entire multiscale network. Then, the compressed dictionary learning and the data dimension reduction are carried out using the effective block structure method combined with very sparse random projection matrix, which solves the computational complexity caused by high-dimensional features and shortens the dictionary learning time. Finally, the sparse representation classification method is used to realize vehicle type recognition. The experimental results show that the detection effect of the proposed algorithm is stable in sunny, cloudy and rainy weather, and it has strong adaptability to typical application scenarios such as occlusion and blurring, with an average recognition rate of more than 95%.

  • In this research, we proposed the active pulse classification algorithm using multi-label convolutional neural networks for active sonar system. The proposed algorithm has the advantage of being able to acquire the information of the active pulse at a time, unlike the existing single label-based algorithm, which has several neural network structures, and also has an advantage of simplifying the learning process. In order to verify the proposed algorithm, the neural network was trained using sea experimental data. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the proposed algorithm converged, and through the analysis of the confusion matrix, it was confirmed that it has excellent active pulse classification performance.

  • This paper presents a simple approximation-based design approach for consensus tracking of heterogeneous second-order nonlinear systems under a directed network. All nonlinearities of followers are assumed to be unknown and non-identical. In the controller design procedure, graph-independent error surfaces are used and an unimplementable intermediate controller for each follower is designed at the first design step. Then, by adding and subtracting a graph-based term at the second step, the actual controller for each follower is designed by using one neural network employed to estimate a lumped and distributed nonlinearity. Therefore, the proposed local controller for each follower has a simpler structure than existing approximation-based consensus tracking controllers for multi-agent systems with unmatched nonlinearities.
