Recently, shipyards are making many efforts to reduce the number of the mounted blocks by increasing the block size. This is to improve productivity and reduce related costs by minimizing block movement and shortening the building period. However, as the blocks become larger, the weight increases considerably. If the target block has a damage due to an unexpected accident during block lifting, it may seriously cause a problem of the reusability of the block. In this study, a large-sized block of the offshore structure weighing 480 tons was lifting with a total of seven sling belts, and one sling belt was broken while it was moving, resulting in a situation in which a part of the edge of the block collided with the ground. The aim of this paper is to verify the structural integrity of the block that directly collides with the ground in the form of free fall due to the sling breakage. Considering that the hook loads acting on several sling belts holding the block are redistributed when a sling belt is broken, the hook loads were recalculated at the angle just before the sling breakage. These loads were used to check the safety of the sling belts. In addition, FE analysis was performed by calculating the amount of impact from the free fall condition, obtaining the impact area by using Hertz's contact theory, and then applying the impact load to the area.

Recently, the aging of agricultural society has caused a rapid increase in safety accidents in -agricultural machinery. Sometimes, the wounded may be left unattended resulting serious situation. In order to solve these problems, ICT technology is used to detect and inform the accident quickly when a safety accident such as overturning, collision or other accidents occurs during the operation or moving the agricultural machinery, such as cultivator, rearing machine, and tractor. A system capable of minimizing the amount of data is required. In this paper, an ICT - based automatic accident detection & propagation system is proposed for the agricultural machinery accident such as colliding crashes or overturning of agricultural machinery. The proposed system enables quick rescue by sending a text message automatically to family, acquaintances, hospitals and 119 in the event of an agricultural accident.
This paper investigates the mechanical response of simply supported one-way reinforced concrete slabs under fire through numerical analysis. The numerical model is constructed using the software ABAQUS, and verified by experimental results. Generally, mechanical response of the slab can be divided into four stages, accompanied with drastic stress redistribution. In the first stage, the bottom of the slab is under tension and the top is under compression. In the second stage, stress at bottom of the slab becomes compression due to thermal expansion, with the tension zone at the mid-span section moving up along the thickness of the slab. In the third stage, compression stress at bottom of the slab starts to decrease with the deflection of the slab increasing significantly. In the fourth stage, the bottom of the slab is under tension again, eventually leading to cracking of the slab. Parametric studies were further performed to investigate the effects of load ratio, thickness of protective layer, width-span ratio and slab thickness on the performance of the slab. Results show that increasing the thickness of the slab or reducing the load ratio can significantly postpone the time that deflection of the slab reaches span/20 under fire. It is also worth noting that slabs with the span ratio of 1:1 reached a deflection of span/20 22 min less than those of 1:3. The thickness of protective layer has little effect on performance of the slab until it reaches a deflection of span/20, but its effect becomes obvious in the late stages of fire.
Most factories deal with toxic or flammable chemicals in their industrial processes. These hazardous substances pose a risk of leakage due to accidents, such as fire and explosion. In the event of chemical release, massive casualties and property damage can result; hence, quantitative risk prediction and assessment are necessary. Several methods are available for evaluating chemical dispersion in the atmosphere, and most analyses are considered neutral in dispersion models and under far-field wind condition. The foregoing assumption renders a model valid only after a considerable time has elapsed from the moment chemicals are released or dispersed from a source. Hence, an initial dispersion model is required to assess risk quantitatively and predict the extent of damage because the most dangerous locations are those near a leak source. In this study, the dispersion model for initial consequence analysis was developed with three-dimensional unsteady advective diffusion equation. In this expression, instantaneous leakage is assumed as a puff, and wind velocity is considered as a coordinate transform in the solution. To minimize the buoyant force, ethane is used as leaked fuel, and two different diffusion coefficients are introduced. The calculated concentration field with a molecular diffusion coefficient shows a moving circular iso-line in the horizontal plane. The maximum concentration decreases as time progresses and distance increases. In the case of using a coefficient for turbulent diffusion, the dispersion along the wind velocity direction is enhanced, and an elliptic iso-contour line is found. The result yielded by a widely used commercial program, ALOHA, was compared with the end point of the lower explosion limit. In the future, we plan to build a more accurate and general initial risk assessment model by considering the turbulence diffusion and buoyancy effect on dispersion.

Recently, the trend in structural analysis and design is moving towards the development of reliable system. The reliability-based method defines various limit states related to usability and failure, thereby enabling multiple levels of design according to the importance of a structure. Meanwhile, an actual structure is composed of a set of several elements, and particularly, a frame type is composed of a system in which the members are connected each other. At this time, the actual connection between members is in a semi-rigid condition, not in complete rigid or hinged. This semi-rigid is found in several structures, especially in agricultural facilities designed with lightweight materials. In this study, a system reliability analysis technique for frame structure was established, and applied to an analysis of the semi-rigid connection. Various conditions of correlation were applied to reflect the connectivity between members, and through this, the limitations of existing structural analysis method and the behavioral characteristics of structure were analyzed. The failure probability of the frame member component and the overall structure system was significantly different in consideration of the semi-rigid connection. In addition, it was evaluated that the behavior of structure can be more accurately analyzed if the correlation according to the position of members in a system is further investigated.

Analytical solutions for regular waves generated by bottom wave makers in a 3-dimensional wave basin were derived in this study. Bottom wave makers which have triangular, rectangular and combination of two shapes were adopted. The 3-dimensional velocity potential was derived based on the linear wave theory with the bottom moving boundary condition, kinematic and dynamic free surface boundary conditions in a wave basin. Then, analytical solutions of 3-dimensional particle velocities and free surface displacement were derived from the velocity potential. The solutions showed physically valid results for regular waves generated by bottom wave makers in a wave basin. The analytical solution for obliquely propagating wave generation from bottom wave maker which works like a snake was also derived. Numerical results of the solution agree well with theoretically predicted results.

This research mainly focuses on the transport and dispersion of chemical agent plume according to the Lagrangian Puff Model and Lagrangian Particle Model of NBC_RAMS(Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Reporting And Modeling S/W System). NBC_RAMS was developed with the purposes of estimating the fate of Chemical, Biological, and Radioactive(CBR) agent plumes and evaluating damages in the Republic of Korea. First, it calculates the local weather pattern, i.e. wind speed, wind direction, and temperature, by considering the effects of land uses and topography. The plume behaviors are calculated by adopting the Lagrangian Puff Model(LPFM) or Lagrangian Particle Model(LPTM). In this research, we assumed a virtual chemical agent exposure event in a stable atmospheric condition during the summer season. The plume behaviors were estimated by both LPFM and LPTM on the used area(urbanized and dry area) and the agricultural land. The higher heat flux in the used area led to stronger winds and further downward movement moving of the chemical agent than the farmland. The lateral dispersion of the chemical plume was emphasized in the Lagrangian Puff Model because it adopted Gaussian distribution.

This paper proposed an Inter-Carrier-Interference (ICI) Canceling Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) receiver for 5G mobile system to support 500 km/h linear motor high speed terrestrial transportation service. A receiver in such high-speed train sees the transmission channel which is composed of multiple Doppler-shifted propagation paths. Then, a loss of sub-carrier orthogonality due to Doppler-spread channels causes ICI. The ICI Canceler is realized by the following three steps. First, using the Demodulation Reference Symbol (DMRS) pilot signals, it analyzes three parameters such as attenuation, relative delay, and Doppler-shift of each multi-path component. Secondly, based on the sets of three parameters, Channel Transfer Function (CTF) of sender sub-carrier number 𝒏 to receiver sub-carrier number 𝒍 is generated. In case of 𝒏≠𝒍, the CTF corresponds to ICI factor. Thirdly, since ICI factor is obtained, by applying ICI reverse operation by Multi-Tap Equalizer, ICI canceling can be realized. ICI canceling performance has been simulated assuming severe channel condition such as 500 km/h, 2 path reverse Doppler Shift for QPSK, 16QAM, 64QAM and 256QAM modulations. In particular, for modulation schemes below 16QAM, we confirmed that the difference between BER in a 2 path reverse Doppler shift environment and stationary environment at a moving speed of 500 km/h was very small when the number of taps in the multi-tap equalizer was set to 31 taps or more. We also confirmed that the BER performance in high-speed mobile communications for multi-level modulation schemes above 64QAM is dramatically improved by the use of a multi-tap equalizer.

In order to improve continuous success and stabilization of high-speed rail in the future, Using Frequency of high-speed rail should be enhanced by improving satisfaction of high-speed rail passenger. High-speed rail is needed to hold the priority in competition means by comparing the traits of service of domestic air lines. This study utilizes structural equation modeling to develop model for estimating factors influencing to service through conducting survey questionnaire. It also uses reliability analysis, correlation analysis, factor analysis to examine the rationalization of items and to establish hypothesis of this research. The results show that KTX contains 'inner service' item that is considered to be ameliorated and that domestic airline present low performance of 'outer service' item. In other words, moving section which partly is under a limited condition is needed to be improved. In addition, access to airport and transfer to other transportations have to be improved as they show the lowest satisfaction.
Response of the pipeline crossing fault is considered as the large strain problem. Proper estimation of the pipeline response plays important role in mitigation studies. In this study, an advanced continuum modeling including material non-linearity in large strain deformations, hardening/softening soil behavior and soil-pipeline interaction is applied. Through the application of a fully nonlinear analysis based on an explicit finite difference method, the mechanics of the pipeline behavior and its interaction with soil under large strains is presented in more detail. To make the results useful in oil and gas engineering works, a continuous pipeline of two steel grades buried in two clayey soil types with four different crossing angles of 30°, 45°, 70° and 90° with respect to the pipeline axis have been considered. The results are presented as the fault movement corresponding to different damage limit states. It was seen that the maximum affected pipeline length is about 20 meters for the studied conditions. Also, the affected length around the fault cutting plane is asymmetric with about 35% and 65% at the fault moving and stationary block, respectively. Local buckling is the dominant damage state for greater crossing angle of 90° with the fault displacement varying from 0.4 m to 0.55 m. While the tensile strain limit is the main damage state at the crossing angles of 70° and 45°, the cross-sectional flattening limit becomes the main damage state at the smaller 30° crossing angles. Compared to the stiff clayey soil, the fault movement resulting 3% tensile strain limit reach up to 40% in soft clayey soil. Also, it was seen that the effect of the pipeline internal pressure reaches up to about 40% compared to non-pressurized condition for some cases.
