  • We proposed a novel fractal-space multiplexing holographic memory system using moving window and double-focusing lens, which can eliminate crosstalk due to two neighboring moving window rows in the vertical direction of the conventional moving window holographic memory system, and demonstrated its feasibility through optical experiments.

  • Needs for the methodology of segmentation of linear feature according to the shape characteristics of line feature are increasing in cartographic linear generalization. In this study, the line segmentation method using expansible moving window is presented. This method analyzes the generalization effect of line simplification algorithms depend on the line characters of linear feature and extracts the sections which show exclusively low positional error due to a specific algorithm. The description measurements of these segments are calculated and the target line data are segmented based on the measurements. For segmenting the linear feature to a homogeneous section, expansible moving window is applied. This segmentation method is expected to be used in the cartographic map generalization considering the shape characteristics of linear feature.

  • The perturbation parameters like jitter, shimmer, and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) are largely estimated in the particular segment from the subjective or whole portion of the given pathological voice signal although there are many possible regions to be able to analyze the voice signals. In this paper, the pathological voice signals were classified as type 1, 2, 3, or 4 according to narrow band spectrogram and the value differences of the perturbation parameters extracted in the subjective and entire portion tended to be getting bigger as from type 1 to type 4 signals. Therefore, sample selection method based on moving window to analyze type 2 and 3 signals as well as type 1 signals is proposed. Although type 3 signals cannot be analyzed using the perturbation analysis, the type 3 signals by selecting out the samples in which error count is less than 10 through moving window were analyzed. At present, there is no method to be able to analyze the type 4 signals. Future research will endeavor to determine the best way to evaluate such voices.

  • In this paper, a method to detect lanes and obstacles from the images captured by a CCD camera fitted in an automobile is proposed, and a new terminology “Moving Window” is defined. Processing the input dynamic images in real time can cause quite a few constraints in terms of hardware. In order to overcome these problems and detect lanes and obstacles in real time using the images, the optimal size of “Moving Window” is determined, based upon road conditions and automobile states. The real time detection is made possible through the technique. For each image frame, the moving window is moved in a predicted direction, the accuracy of which is improved by the Kalman filter estimation. The feasibility of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated through the simulated experiments of freeway driving.

  • Fractal-space multiplexing using a moving window(MW) can multiplex holograms by moving a window left and right. and up and down. But, crosstalk occurs by two neighboring moving windows in the vertical direction of the holographic memory system and limits high-density information recording. Accordingly, we analyzed the crosstalk with the focal length of lens, the distance of MW, and the number of multiplexed hologram to record high-density infromation and presented the optical experimental results of fractal-space multiplexing using volumetric photorefractive crystal and disc type photopolymer.

  • Connection admission decision in ATM networks requires decision made in real time using fast algorithm. It is difficult to construct a model of the multiplexed traffic and thus, approximation of the traffic load is necessary. In this paper, we propose a measurement-based dynamic CAC(Connection admission Control) in ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) networks, which observes current traffic by the moving window and set the window size to the value which is computed from the measured cell loss amount. It is based on the measurements of the traffic load over an admission period that is load enough to reflect the current traffic behavior instead of analytic modeling. And, the dynamic reallocation of bandwidth for each class leads to effective bandwidth utilization. The performance of proposed method is analyzed through computer simulation. The performance of proposed method is analyzed by using SIMAN simulation package and FORTRAN language. As can be seen in the simulation result, cell loss performance and bandwidth utilization have been increased.

  • Identification of steady-state is the first step in developing a fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) system. In a complete FDD system, the steady-state detector will be included as a module in a self-learning algorithm which enables the working system's reference model to "tune" itself to its particular installation. In this study, a steady-state detector of a residential air conditioner based on moving windows was designed. Seven representing measurements were selected as key features for steady-state detection. The optimized moving window size and the feature thresholds was suggested through startup transient test and no-fault steady-state test. Performance of the steady-state detector was verified during indoor load change test. From the research, the general methodology to design a moving window steady-state detector was provided for vapor compression applications.

  • To detect obstacles and lane-markers for driving vehicles, a new moving window scheme where moving windows are assigned to an image frame captured by a camera is addressed. For the detection of obstacles, it is important to estimate lane-markers precisely and rapidly. For this purpose, selecting some partes of an image frame at the expected lane locations, i.e., selecting window are generally adopted for extracting lane-markers efficiently. In this paper, a new scheme that extracts lane-markers precisely by assigning variable size windows at the expected locations of lane-markers considering the road curvature and finally detects obstacles within a driving lane is proposed. The accuracy improvement using this moving window scheme is showed by comparing to the conventional fixed window method and to using radar to laser sensors.

  • This paper introduces robust tracking algorithm for fast and erratic moving object. CAMSHIFT algorithm has less computation and efficient performance for object tracking. However, the method fails to track a object if it moves out of search window by fast velocity and/or large movement. The size of the search window in CAMSHIFT algorithm should be selected manually also. To solve these problems, we propose an efficient prediction technique for fast movement of object using Kalman Filter with automatic initial setting and variable configuration technique for search window. The proposed method is compared to the traditional CAMSHIFT algorithm for searching and tracking performance of objects on test image frames.
