Dynamic analysis and model test on steel-concrete composite beams under moving loads

  • This paper is concerned with the dynamic analysis of simply-supported steel-concrete composite beams under moving loads. Considering the interface slip between steel girder and concrete slab, the governing motion equations are derived from the direct balanced method. By variable separation approach, the analytical solution of natural frequencies and mode shapes are obtained, as well as the orthogonal conditions. Then the dynamic responses of the composite beam under moving loads are analyzed, and compared with the experimental results. The analysis results show that the governing motion equations become more complicated when interface slip is taken into account, and the dynamic behaviors are significantly influenced by the shear connection stiffness. In the dynamic calculation of composite beams, the global stiffness should not be reduced as the same factor to all orders, but as different ones according to the dynamic stiffness reduction factor (DSRF), to which should be paid more attention in calculation, design and experiment, or else great deviation is inevitable.

  • As DMB, 3D game, Internet and movie is serviced for the recent mobile devices, high resolution display devices beyond VGA become used. Implementation of real-time moving pictures of 30렌 by software programming is difficult because the performance of mobile processors is not so high. The full frame moving picture can be supported by using specific hardware. In this paper, an OLED controller that is consists of flash memory controller and OLED interface is proposed for real-time moving picture on mobile displays. The proposed OLED controller is implemented in FPGA and the performance is evaluated.

  • In this paper, a moving target tracking using a binocular vision for an omni-directional mobile robot is addressed. In the binocular vision, three dimensional information on the target is extracted by vision processes including calibration, image correspondence, and 3D reconstruction. The robot controller is constituted with SPI(serial peripheral interface) to communicate effectively between robot master controller and wheel controllers.

  • In this paper, an Android based ubiquitous interface for controlling service robots is presented. The robot server captures the images for the front view of the robot, makes a map of the environment and its position, produces a graphic image of its pose, and then transmits them to the Android client. The Android client displays them in the LCD panel and transfers control information obtained from touched buttons to the server. In the interface environment, we implement remote moving mode, autonomous moving mode, and remote operation mode for being used for versatile operability to the robot with limited screen of the smart phone. Experimental results show the implementation of the proposed interface in Android installed on Motoroi to control a service robot, and demonstrate its feasibility.

Effect of Processing Parameters on Direct Fabrication of Polycrystalline Silicon Wafer (다결정 실리콘 웨이퍼 직접제조에 대한 공정변수 영향)

  • A ribbon-type polycrystalline silicon wafer was directly fabricated from liquid silicon via a novel technique for both a fast growth rate and large grain size by exploiting gas pressure. Effects of processing parameters such as moving speed of a dummy bar and the length of the solidification zone on continuous casting of the silicon wafer were investigated. Silicon melt extruded from the growth region in the case of a solidification zone with a length of 1cm due to incomplete solidification. In case of a solidification zone wieh a length of 2 cm, on the other hand, continuous casting of the wafer was impossible due to the volume expansion of silicon derived from the liquid-solid transformation in solidification zone. Consequently, the optimal length of the solidification zone was 1.5 cm for maintaining the position of the solid-liquid interface in the solidification zone. The silicon wafer could be continuously casted when the moving speed of the dummy bar was 6 cm/min, but liquid silicon extruded from the growth region without solidification when the moving speed of the dummy bar was ${\geq}$ 9 cm/min. This was due to a shift of the position of the solid-liquid interface from the solidification zone to the moving area. The present study reports experimental findings on a new direct growth system for obtaining silicon wafers with both high quality and productivity, as a candidate for an alternate route for the fabrication of ribbon-type silicon wafers.

  • The 3-dimensional grain burn-back analysis is performed using the face offsetting method for calculating the solid rocket motor performance. The grain burning configuration analysis is a moving surface problem that calculates the regression of the burning surface. In the previous study, various moving interface analysis methods were applied for the grain burn-back analysis, but the results were imperfect. In this study, a 3-dimensional grain burn-back analysis module is developed using the face offsetting method, which combines the advantages of the existing moving interface analysis methods to increase the accuracy and robustness. As a result, the face offsetting method is proved to be efficient for the grain burn-back analysis.

MPEG-U-based Advanced User Interaction Interface Using Hand Posture Recognition

  • Hand posture recognition is an important technique to enable a natural and familiar interface in the human-computer interaction (HCI) field. This paper introduces a hand posture recognition method using a depth camera. Moreover, the hand posture recognition method is incorporated with the Moving Picture Experts Group Rich Media User Interface (MPEG-U) Advanced User Interaction (AUI) Interface (MPEG-U part 2), which can provide a natural interface on a variety of devices. The proposed method initially detects positions and lengths of all fingers opened, and then recognizes the hand posture from the pose of one or two hands, as well as the number of fingers folded when a user presents a gesture representing a pattern in the AUI data format specified in MPEG-U part 2. The AUI interface represents a user's hand posture in the compliant MPEG-U schema structure. Experimental results demonstrate the performance of the hand posture recognition system and verified that the AUI interface is compatible with the MPEG-U standard.

  • Virtual reality environment system is expected to be used as a new user interface tool oweing to its high immersiveness and high interactivity. To use VR interface effectively, we should identify the characteristics of the three-dimensional control tasks as if we did in two-dimensional graphic user interface environments. As a first step, we validated Fitts'law for the three-dimensional pointing tasks with the two input devices, Spaceball and Spacemouse.   • A realization for moving object sensing and tracking system in two dimensional plane using stereo line CCDs and lighting source is presented in this paper. The system is realized that instead of processing camera images directly, two line CCD sensor and input line image is used to measure two dimensional distance by comparing the brightness on line CCDs. The algorithms are used the moving object sensing, path tracking and coordinate converting method. To ensure the effective detection of moving path, a detection algorithm to evaluate the reliability of each measured distance is developed. The realized system results are that the performance of moving object recognizing shows 5mm resolution, and enables to track a moving path of object per looms period.
