  • This paper presents results of FEA and tests on the characteristics of moving coil type LOA due to the static field excitation method. In case the static field is generated by NdFeB permanent magnet, the static thrust is almost 6 times than that by electromagnet. Therefore under the same power, the volume becomes small according to using permanent magnet for the generation of static field.

  • LOA is the linear electromechanical device that mover is similar to secondary conductor of LIM. The mover reciprocates along stroke by supplying the alternating current to primary coil. LOA is the simpler and more efficient than other linear apparatus using the rotary motor because LOA produce the thrust force without any mechanical converter such as cam, clutch, belt, rack and pinion, etc. This paper deals with the static characteristics of moving coil type LOA by virtual work method, FEM analysis and experiment Results show that thrust force increases when mover travels form center to both ends.

이동체 데이터베이스를 위한 R-tree 기반 메인 메모리 색인의 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of a Main Memory Index based on the R-tree for Moving Object Databases)

  • 최근 PDA, 휴대폰 GPS와 같은 모바일 기기의 발달로 인하여 이동체에 대한 위치 기반 서비스의 요구가 증대되고 있다. 위치 기반 서비스 기술의 핵심은 이동체로부터 획득된 위치를 효율적으로 저장하고 처리하기 위한 이동체 데이터베이스이며 이동체의 빈번한 보고 데이터를 처리하기 위해서는 서버에서 메인 메모리 DBMS를 유지하는 것이 필요하다. 그러나, 기존 연구에서는 대부분 디스크 기반 환경에서의 이동체 색인을 연구하였으며 이러한 색인은 메인 메모리의 특성을 고려하지 않기 때문에 메인 메모리 DBMS에서는 효율적인 동작을 보장할 수 없다. 따라서, 메인 메모리 환경에 적합한 이동체 색인에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 이 논문에서는 메인 메모리 DBMS에서 이동체의 빈번한 보고 데이터를 처리하기 위한 R-tree 기반의 메인 메모리 색인을 제시한다. 제안한 색인에서는 성장 노드 구조를 사용함으로써 노드 오버플로우 시 노드 분할을 지연하여 노드 분할에 의한 분할 비용이 증가하는 것을 방지한다. 또한, 노드간의 중첩을 줄이기 위한 합병 후 재분할 정책과 노드 MBR이 차지하는 영역 크기 비율을 줄이기 위한 큰 영역을 가진 노드에 대한 분할 정책을 제안함으로써 검색 성능을 향상시킨다. 성능 평가를 통해서 이 논문에서 제안한 색인은 기존의 색인에 비해서 영역 질의 수행 시 최대 30% 정도의 성능향상을 보여주고 있다.

  • Contactless systems use electromagnetic fields to transport power from railway substation to the traction system. In Korea Railroad Research Institute, KRRI, the RIPS (Railway Inductive Power Supply), has been developed. The RIPS is based on a contactless transformer with a fixed coreless primary and a moving core, compared with E shape and U shape, in the secondary. The primary coil is supply with 20 kHz current which produces a magnetic flux in the secondary core. Further this flux induces a current in the secondary coil.

  • It is becoming very difficult for a single company to perform every process and activity required to bring its product or service to market in a competitive manner. Consequently, we are observing a dramatic paradigm shift, with companies moving from performing all activities in-house to selective outsourcing for non-core elements of their business. Through outsourcing, companies can focus on their core competencies, reduce costs, improve quality and increase flexibility. Companies today can no longer afford to ignore the potential opportunities realized through mutually beneficial outsourcing relationships with third-party suppliers. The outsourcing opportunities exist in almost every business process. Many successful companies have implemented effective outsourcing relationships with third party suppliers to gain competitive advantage in a wide range of areas. However, in terms of logistics, it is not so easy to find those companies in our country. Consequently, this paper reviews previous researches and describes several topics in third party logistics such as advantages and disadvantages, how can we select third party suppliers, and so on.

A Development of Recoil & Counter Recoil Motion Measurement System Using LVDT

  • This paper presents a recoil and counter recoil motion measurement system using linear variable differential transformers (LVDT). The output of the LVDT is obtained from the differential voltage of the secondary transformers. Since a transducer core is attached to the motion body, the output is directly proportional to the movement length of the core. Displacement, velocity and acceleration are measured from the LVDT. With a comparison between the measurement result and the reference value obtained by the highly accurate Vernier calipers, it is proved that the measurement system with the LVDT is applicable to the test of the moving part of the mechanism with better accuracy.

  • In this work, a magnetic levitation (maglev) system is developed to transport a wafer between semiconductor fabrication process modules in clean rooms to take advantages of eliminating particle and oil contamination that normally exist in conventional transport systems due to contact motion of mechanical components. A main feature of the maglev system developed in this work is that a controller and power supplying part are not mounted on the moving carrier but on the stationary track, which is defined a controller-free carrier, to reduce carrier's weight. Iron-core electromagnets and irons are used for levitation, and air-core electromagnets and permanent magnets are used for stabilization. Analysis, design, and modeling of the magnetically levitated transport system are presented. The performance of the maglev system is experimentally demonstrated.

  • This paper is concerned with the design and the construction of a moving magnet type linear DC motor(MM type LDM) for instrumentation. A mathematical model for the design of a LDM is developed and a permeance method is used to calculate the effective flux density in the air gap. The flux distribution in the air gap is analyzed and the width of iron core should be determined in order not to saturate the iron core by caluclating maxmum flux density. The design data culculated by a permeance method are compared with the analyzed results using FEM(MAXWELL 2D). The errors between two results are corrected. The tested LDM is constructed using the corrected design data. The results of experiment for thrust characteristics are compared with simulation.

  • In the paper, we present the design procedure and analysis the fundamental characteristics for Linear DC Motor(LDM) using permeance method and finite element method (FEM). Designed LDM is made of two permanent magnets, three iron core and armature windings. For the design of the LDM, first of all it is necessary to calculate the air gap flux density and thrust force, after that to determine core size, the numbers of winding turns, winding width, etc. To demonstrate the method of caculation yields the right results, we used Maxwell program package for computing magnetic fields. Finally we find that the proposed design procedure in this paper is effective to design of LDM.
