  • This study which was conducted on male tennis player on one hand(OH) & two hand(TH) backhand stroke and how both motion differed on low extremity movement with each feature analyzed in detail, the result as follow. The motion of TH based on resultant velocity, appeared to be a higher than OH, which was important variable in determining the ball speed. Contrary to TH where the player minimized the motion in the lower body and finalized a stroke through the turn of the trunk as if sticking the ball closed to the body, OH was carried out such that the player appeared to chase the ball. Whereas in OH, the knee joint extension moment was not found to be larger than TH, the opposite result came out for abduction moment and internal rotation moment. In the case of hip joint, consisted of extension, abduction and internal rotation moment, the outcome emerged to be greater for TH with conspicuous difference in abduction moment. Flection moment for TH overwhelmed in TH though both adduction and external rotation moment brought about similar outcome for both strokes.

  • This study was to analysis the kinematic and kinetic differences between new walking shoe(NWS : RYN) and general walking shoe(GWS). The subjects for this study were 10 male adults who had the walking pattern of rearfoot shrike with normal foot. The movement of one lower leg was measured using plantar pressure and Vicon Motion Analysis Program(6 MX13 and 2 MX40 cameras : 100 f / s) while the subjects walked at the velocity(1.5m/s. on 2m).. The results of this study was as follows : 1. The NWS was better than the GWS that caused injuries such as adduction, abduction and pronation are reduced While walking on a perpendicular surface, the landing angle and the knees angles were extensive which makes walking more safe which reduces anxiety and uneasiness. 2. The bottom of the NWS were now made into a more circular arch which supports the weight of the body and reduces the irregular angles when wearing GWS. This arch made the supporting area more wide which made the upholding the trunk of the body more effective. The whole bottom of the foot that supports the weight is more flexible in addition, increases the safeness of walking patterns and the momentum of the body. 3. The moment the heel of the foot of the NWS touch the ground, the range of the pressure were partially notable and the range of the pressure on the upper part of the thigh were dispersed The injuries that occurred while walking. primary factors when a shock related injuries are reduced Judgements of the impacts of the knees and the spinal column dispersing could be made.

  • Tracking and recognition of robots are required for the cooperation task of robots in various environments. In the paper, a tracking control system of moving robot using stereo image processing, code-book model and fuzzy controller is proposed. First, foreground and background images are separated by using code-book model method. A candidate region is selected based on the color information in the separated foreground image and real distance of the robot is estimated from matching process of depth image that is acquired through stereo image processing. The open and close processing of image are applied and labeling according to the size of mobile robot is used to recognize the moving robot effectively. A fuzzy tracking controller using distance information and mobile information by stereo image processing is designed for effective tracking according to the movement velocity of the target robot. The proposed fuzzy tracking control method is verified through tracking experiments of mobile robots with stereo camera.

  • This study carried out a series of experiments involving impact tests (Drop Weight type & Charpy type with a standard specimen and newly designed I-type specimen), hardness tests, and fracture surface observations of French-made roll shell steel (F), abnormal roll shell steel (M), reheated roll shell steel (R), and S25C steel under heat treatment conditiAn experimental study was carried out to study the solid-liquid mixture upward hydraulic transport of solid particles in vertical and inclined annuli with a rotating inner cylinder. The lift forces acting on a fluidized particle play a central role in many important applications such as the removal of drill cuttings in horizontal drill holes, sand transport in fractured reservoirs, sediment transport, the cleaning of particles from surfaces, etc. In this study a clear acrylic pipe was used to observe the movement of solid particles. Annular velocities varied from 0.4 to 1.2 m/s. The effect of the annulus inclination and drill pipe rotation on the carrying capacity of a drilling fluid, particle rising velocity, and pressure drop in a slim hole annulus were measured for fully-developed flows of water and aqueous solutions of CMC (sodium carboxymethyl cellulose) and bentonite. The rotation of the inner cylinder was efficient at carrying particles to some degree. For a higher particle volume concentration, the hydraulic pressure loss of the mixture flow increased because of the friction between the wall and solids or between solids.

  • Nowadays, small quantity batch production, which is so-called a flexible manufacturing system, is a major trend in the modern factory automation industry. The demands for new transportation system are increased gradually, with which multiple passive carriers carrying materials and semi-products are precisely and individually controlled along a single closed rail. Thus, a new type of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM), which consists of state coils on a single rail and PM movers as many as carriers, is proposed in this paper. The rail can be segmented as modules with pairs of coils and a current amplifier, which makes the transportation system simple; therefore, the rail can be easily extended and repaired. A design method of the new PMLSM with a single carrier is proposed, which can be thought as a new version of PMLSM, a coil-segmented coreless PMLSM (CS-CLPMLSM). Experimental setup for it is made, and propulsion results show that with the help of a new effective coil selection and switching algorithms, the conventional current-based vector control is sufficient to fulfill the position and velocity control of the new PMLSM. The proposed PMLSM is expected to fulfill seamless servo-control of multiple carriers also in process line, such as a new generation of flat panel display manufacturing line.

  • A horizontal tow-dimensional version of POM (Princeton Ocean Model) was modified in representing the bottom friction and the open boundary conditions. To simulate the flooding and drying of intertidal flats, a wetting-and-drying scheme was incorporated into the model. The model then was applied to the Chunsu Bay and its adjacent coastal water. Only the water movement due to tides, the dominant forcing in the study area, was considered. This presents the procedure and the results of model calibration and verification for the Chunsu Bay system. The model was calibrated, using the average tidal characteristics in Tide Tables, for the amplitudes and the phases of tidal waves throughout the modeling domain. Calibration results showed that the model gave a good reproduction of tidal waves. The calibrated model was verified using the time-series measurements of surface elevation and current velocity in the summer of 1995. The model reproduced the tides currents very well. calibration and verification results demonstrated that the model is capable of reproducing the tidal dynamics in the Chunsu Bay system.

  • The purpose in having a control surface on ships is to control the motion of the ship. The control surface may be composed entirely of a single movable surface or of a combination of fixed and movable portions. A control surface has one sole function to perform in meeting its purpose, and that is to develop a control force in consequence of its orientation and movement relative to the water. The forces and moments generated as a result of this rotation and angle of attack then determine the manoeuvring characteristics of the ship. In this paper, two-dimensional flow characteristics of a flapped rudder and a water-blowing control rudder were accomplished respectively by PIV method in a circulating water channel. Model test has been carried out with different angles of attack of main foil (NACA 0012) and flap's deflection angles to predict the performance of the flapped rudder and the water-blowing control rudder. The 2-frame particle tracking method has been used to obtain the velocity distribution in the flow field. $Re{\fallingdotseq}3.0{\times}10^4$ has been used during the whole experiments and measured results have been compared with each other.

  • A preliminary study of a new pulsatile pump that will work to a frequency greater than 1 Hz, is presented. The fluid-structure interaction between a Newtonian blood flow and a piston drive that moves with periodic speed is simulated. The mechanism is of double effect and has four valves, two at the input flow and two at the output flow; the valves are simulated with specified velocity of closing and reopening. The simulation is made with finite elements software named COMSOL Multiphysics 3.3 to resolve the flow in a preliminary planar configuration. The geometry is 2D to determine areas of high speeds and high shear stresses that can cause hemolysis and platelet aggregation. The opening and closing valves are modelled by solid structure interacting with flow, the rhythmic opening and closing are synchronized with the piston harmonic movement. The boundary conditions at the input and output areas are only normal traction with reference pressure. On the other hand, the fluid structure interactions are manifested due to the non-slip boundary conditions over the piston moving surfaces, moving valve contours and fix pump walls. The non-physiologic frequency pulsatile pump, from the viewpoint of fluid flow analysis, is predicted feasible and with characteristic of low hemolysis and low thrombogenesis, because the stress tension and resident time are smaller than the limit and the vortices are destroyed for the periodic flow.

  • The validity of an unsteady two-dimensional(2-D) numerical hydrodynamic and pollutant dispersion model(2DNHPDM) was evaluated using the data obtained from I-sa streams in Sooncheon, Chonnam, during rain-fall run-off. Field observations was conducted for 35 hours during the 10 hours rainfall event on 7th May 2005. The water level, 2-D velocity, flow field, and COD at seven points selected along the river were measured at intervals of one hour. The model was applied to describe two-dimensional movement of dissolved pollutants in meandering non-uniform river. Major physical processes affecting the lateral and horizontal mixing of the river flow were simulated. The model was proved effective in describing the hydrodynamics and dispersion of the river pollutants from its major tributaries as well as non-point sources.

  • In this study, we examined the movement of chlorophenol as a precursor of the dioxin in the after-combustion to minimize the creation and emission of dioxin in a municipal waste incinerator. The CPs was injected to the electric incinerator in temperature $300{\sim}500^{\circ}C$, using $N_2$ gas to control the reaction time, The oxygen quantity supplied into the $CP_s's$ isomer combustion was added with the value of experience formula. When the space velocity in reactor was 60~80/sec, the removal efficiency of CP was obtained in the presence of Mo-V catalyst and non catalyst. The efficiency in non-catalyst was 74% to 80% mono-CP, di-CP 55~66%, tri-CP 50~58%, while mono-CP 90~99.9%, di-CP 96~97%, tri-CP 76~99% in a catalyst. Consequently, it was shown that these were 20~30% more efficienct than those.
