BCI system integrates control or telecommunication system with generating electric signals in scalp itself after signal acquisition. This system detect a movement of EEG at real time, can control an electron equipment using a generated signal through EEG movement or software-based processor. In this paper, we deal with removing and separating artifacts induceced from measurement when brain-computer interface system that analyzes recognizes EEG signals occurred from various mental states. In this paper, we proposed a method of EEG classification and an artifact interval detection using bisection mathematical modeling in the EEG classification process for BCI system implementation.
This thesis presents a method for 3D modeling of facial expression from frontal and mirror-reflected multi-image. Since the proposed system uses only one camera, two mirrors, and simple mirror's property, it is robust, accurate and inexpensive. In addition, we can avoid the problem of synchronization between data among different cameras. Mirrors located near one's cheeks can reflect the side views of markers on one's face. To optimize our system, we must select feature points of face intimately associated with human's emotions. Therefore we refer to the FDP (Facial Definition Parameters) and FAP (Facial Animation Parameters) defined by MPEG-4 SNHC (Synlhetic/Natural Hybrid Coding). We put colorful dot markers on selected feature points of face to detect movement of facial deformation when subject makes variety expressions. Before computing the 3D coordinates of extracted facial feature points, we properly grouped these points according to relative part. This makes our matching process automatically. We experiment on about twenty koreans the subject of our experiment in their late twenties and early thirties. Finally, we verify the performance of the proposed method tv simulating an animation of 3D facial expression.

This paper presents improper use of latex-elastic ring in movement of teeth and its consequence. Simple orthodontic movement of teeth including closure of diastema may be achieved by the use of simple method with fixed or removable appliance associated with latex-elastic ring. But, if it is used alone, it acts as a local irritant and then produces localized periodontitis. In case of localized periodontitis resulting from latex-elastic ring, diagnosis is difficult because the patient is usually unaware of the presence of the rings on the roots of the involved teeth and because the ring is not probed and is radiolucent and therefore not discernible radiographically and clinically. Occasionally, surgery is requred for the detection. This case emphasizes the necessity that the use of latex-elastic ring in closing diastema should be accompanied with removable or fixed appliance as well as close professional supervision. Its use without adequate provision for stabilization or retention on the crowns of teeth results in destruction of periodontal support and the teeth may be lost.
In this study, we constructed a four-channel impedance measurement system including a two-channel goniometer to analyze human arm movement. Impedances and joint angles were simultaneously measured for wrist and elbow movements. As the impedance changes resulting from wrist and elbow movements depended heavily on electrode placement, we determined the optimal electrode configurations for those movements by searching for high correlation coefficients, large impedance changes, and minimum interferences in ten subjects (age: 29+6). Our optimal electrode configurations showed very strong relationships between the wrist joint angle and forearm impedance (correlation coefficient = 0.95+0.04), and between the elbow joint angle and upper arm impedance (correlation coefficient = -0.98+0.02). Although the measured impedances changes of the wrist (1.1+1.5 ohm) and elbow (-5.0+2.9 ohm) varied among individuals, the reproducibilities of wrist and elbow impedance changes of five subjects were 5.8+1.8 % and 4.6+1.4 % for the optimal electrode pairs, respectively. We propose that this optimal electrode configuration would be useful for future studies involving the measurement of accurate arm movements by impedance method.

To perceive body movement, the nervous system uses multi-sensory cues such as vision, vestibular signals, and somatosensation. Among the multi-sensory modality, the previous researchers reported that the lower limb somatosensation plays an important role on maintaining postural balance. In this study, we examined the contribution of somatosensory cues to linear motion perception by measuring the detection threshold of the direction of linear motion with and without lower limb somatosensory constraints. Six healthy male volunteers participated in randomly ordered 33 single sinusoidal acceleration trials with the stimulus at 0.25Hz with peak magnitude ranged from 0 to 8mG. After each stimulus, subjects reported their perceived direction of motion by button press. Results showed that the reduced lower limb somatosensation significantly increased perception threshold. Without constraints, mean threshold was $0.82{\pm}0.23mG$, while it was $1.23{\pm}0.35mG$ with reduced lower limb somatosensation. The results suggest that without visual cues, perception of the movement direction strongly depends on the lower limb somatosensory information.
A study on Nacelle Lidar (Light detection and ranging) measurement error and the data reliability verification was carried out at Haengwon wind farm on Jeju Island. For measurement data error processing, the characteristics of Nacelle Lidar measurements were analyzed by dividing into three parts, which are weather conditions (temperature, humidity, atmosphere, amount of precipitation), mechanical movement (rotation of wind turbine blades, tilt variation of Nacelle Lidar) and Nacelle Lidar data availability. After processing the measurement error, the reliability of Nacelle Lidar data was assessed by comparing with wind data by an anemometer on a met mast, which is located at a distance of 200m from the wind turbine with Nacelle Lidar. As a result, various weather conditions and mechanical movement did not disturb reliable data measurement. Nacelle Lidar data with availability of 95% or more could be used for checking Nacelle Lidar wind data reliability. The reliability of Nacelle Lidar data was very high with regression coefficient of 98% and coefficient of determination of 97%.
About 70% of Korea consists of mountainous areas, and during the construction of many roads and railroads, cut slopes are inevitably formed. The rainy season, frost heaving in winter, and thawing in spring can all cause rockfalls and landslides. The failure of these slopes is increasing every year, causing damage to vehicles, personal injury and even death. To protect people and property from such damage, a real-time monitoring system is needed to detect the early stages of slope failures. The GMG placed TRS sensor units in the slopes to monitor them in real-time. But due to its reliance on data lines and power lines, the system is vulnerable to lightning damage. The whole system can be damaged by a single lighting strike. Consequently, for the purposes of this paper we propose the use of the Ubiquitous Sensor Network (USN) which follows the IEEE 802.1.4. By using the USN system we can minimize lightning damage and can monitor the movement of the slopes consistently.
IoT(Internet of Things) based underground risk assessment system surrounding water pipeline enables an advanced monitoring and prediction for unexpected underground hazards such as abrupt road-side subsidence and urban sinkholes due to a leak in water pipeline. For the development of successful assessment technology, the PSU(Water Pipeline Safety Unit) which detects the leakage and movement of water pipes. Then, the IoT-based underground risk assessment system surrounding water pipeline will be proposed. The system consists of early detection tools for underground events and correspondence services, by analyzing leakage and movement data collected from PSU. These methods must be continuous and reliable, and cover certain block area ranging a few kilometers, for properly applying to regional water supply changes.
When a fault relating to the urgent alarm occurs, we must prevent control rods from dropping and make one of two grippers in Control Rod Drive Mechanism (CRDM) grip the drive rod laking a control rod assembly. If a gripper with any problem is ordered to grip the drive rod, the gripper which cannot latch the rod stably will fail to take the rod. On the purpose of escaping this bad case, we order two grippers to hold the drive rod and enhance the reliability of holding control rods. This action is called the double hold. In the middle of the movement of the drive rod, the latching of the drive rod can cause friction between a gripper and the drive rod. This state may give damage to both the gripper and the drive rod. In this paper, we have devised the method which can have two grippers hold the drive rod more stably, without damaging the equipment.
The genomic region of Grapevine fanleaf virus (GFLV) encoding the movement protein (MP) was cloned into pET21a and transformed into Escherichia coli strain BL21 (DE3) to express the protein. Induction was made with a wide range of isopropyl-${\beta}$-D-thiogalactopyranoside (IPTG) concentrations (1, 1.5, and 2 mM) each for duration of 4, 6, or 16 h. However, the highest expression level was achieved with 1 mM IPTG for 4 h. Identity of the expressed protein was confirmed by sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) followed by Western blotting. The expressed 41 kDa protein was purified under denaturing condition by affinity chromatography, reconfirmed by Western blotting and plate-trapped antigen enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (PTA-ELISA) before being used as a recombinant antigen to raise polyclonal antibodies in rabbits. Purified anti-GFLV MP immunoglobulines (IgGs) and conjugated IgGs detected the expressed MP and GFLV virions in infected grapevines when used in PTA-ELISA, double antibody sandwich-ELISA, and Western blotting. This is the first report on the production of anti-GFLV MP polyclonal antibodies and application for the virus detection.
