  • With the increasing the importance of emotional quality of vehicle, the sound quality of systems with electric motor components has become increasingly important. Electric motors are used for windows, seats, sun roof, mirrors, steering columns, windshield wiper, climate control blowers, etc. In this paper, a study was conducted to identify sound quality factors that contribute to customer's satisfaction and preference of the window lift system. Jury test for subjective evaluation was carried out and sound quality index was developed. Averaged sound pressure level and sharpness were significant factors when glass moves down. Also, maximum loudness at stop section and averaged loudness were significant factor when glass moves up. Noise source identification was carried out for the reduced the loudness and sharpness during glass transferred section and impulsive noise at stop section, Using the source identification result, several improvement points were applied. And finally, the degree of sound quality improvement was judged using sound quality index.

  • Accurate prediction of the radiated noise is important to reduce the noise of the washing machine. It is also necessary to predict the excitation force accurately because excitation force can induce noise. In order to predict the excitation force acting on the washing machine, this paper conducts source identification method by use of phase reference spectrum. In this method, the transfer function between the cabinet and the motor through FEM and the measured response from the surface of the cabinet is used. The analysis of the radiation noise from the identified exciting force has been investigated. The comparison between the predicted SPL and the measured SPL at 1m apart from the front side of the washing machine showed good tendency.

MR 브레이크의 내구성에 따른 제어성능평가 (Control Performance Evaluation of MR Brake Depending on Durability)

  • This paper presents performance comparison results of magneto-rheological (MR) brake in the sense of wear characteristics. To create wear circumstance, the brake is operated in 100 000 cycles by DC motor. To make wear test in same design parameters such as the radius of the housing, ferromagnetic disc and gap size, small sample of stainless are inserted in housing of MR brake. The performances of brake are compared between the initial stage (no wear) and 100 000 revolution cycles operated stage (wear). At each circumstance, torque of the brake is measured and compared by applying step current and sinusoidal control input. The controller used in this work is a simple, but effective PID controller. It is demonstrated that the wear behavior is more obvious as the operating cycle is increased in the torque control process.

쿼드로터형 드론의 진동특성 분석 및 실험에 관한 연구 (Study on Analysis of Vibration Characteristics and Modal Test for a Quad-Rotor Drone)

  • This paper describes analysis results of vibration characteristics and modal test for a small-scale quad-rotor drone. The rotor arm has a slender body with a propeller and motor at its tip. Rotor system generates excitation for an unbalanced mass. Therefore, the drone platform is involved in the possibility of resonance. For advance identification of the possibility of resonance, confirmation of eigen-mode being closest to the propeller operation range is necessary. Material properties of CFRP tubes used for the rotor arm were acquired by finding the natural frequency based on Rayleigh method. A simplified quad-rotor FE model consisting of rotor arm assembly with tip mass was built to perform numerical analysis, and a free-free boundary condition was applied to provide flight status. Modal tests for the actual platform with impact hammer instrument were performed to verify analysis results. Separation margin from hazardous eigen-mode was checked on the propeller operation range.

할바 자석배열을 이용한 초소형 정보저장장치의 초점 구동기 설계 (Halbach Array Type Focusing Actuator for Small and Thin Optical Data Storage Device)

  • The small form factor optical data storage devices are developing rapidly nowadays. Since it is designed for portable and compatibility with flash memory, its components such as disk, head, focusing actuator, and spindle motor should be assembled within 5 m thickness. The thickness of focusing actuator is within 2 mm and the total working range is $+/-100{\mu}m$, with the resolution of less than $1{\mu}m$. Since the thickness is limited tightly, it is hard to place the yoke that closes the magnetic circuit and hard to make strong flux density without yoke. Therefore, Halbach array is adopted to increase the magnetic flux of one side without yoke. The proposed Halbach array type focusing actuator has the advantage of thin actuation structure with sacrificing less flux density than conventional magnetic array. The optical head unit is moved on the swing arm type tracking actuator. Focusing coil is attached to swing arm, and Halbach magnet array is positioned at the bottom of deck along the tracking line, and focusing actuator exerts force by the Fleming's left hand rule. The working range and resolution of focusing actuator are analyzed with FEM and experiment.

  • This paper introduces the mechanism of the ESD (Electrostatic discharge) in the HDD spindle system using FDBs (Fluid Dynamic Bearings). When a HDD (Hard Disk Drive) spindle system is rotating, triboelectric charging occurs in the FDBs through the friction of the lubricant between the rotating shaft and stationary sleeve. And this electrostatic charge is accumulated in the rotating part of the HDD spindle system because it is insulated from the ground by the lubricant. This research shows experimentally that the behavior of electric charge and discharge in the FDB spindle system is the same as that of a capacitor. It also measures the electrostatic charge and discharge of the FDB spindle system due to the chanse of humidity, supporting load and motor speed. This research shows that the control of ESD is required in the HDD spindle system using FDBs, because the electrostatic charge accumulated in the FDB spindle system may cause the breakdown damage of the GMR head and data loss consequently.

  • In the last couple of years, the flexible optical disk(FOD) system that consists of a thin polycarbonate(PC) film of 95 ${\mu}m$ thick, a rigid stabilizer, and a high speed spindle motor has been spot-lighted as the next-generation optical system for archival use of digital data. The air film between the rotating disk and stabilizer provides a means for damping out the lateral disk vibrations. However, its damping-capability drops significantly as the rotational speed of the disk exceeds a specific limit and, eventually, the disk vibration propagates inward causing the whole span of the disk exhibits large vibration amplitudes. Based on the numerical simulations as well as the experimental results, the present work aims to evaluate the damping coefficient of the air-film near the outer region of the disk where the capillary type orifices are applied to the edge of the curved stabilizer.

  • As mechanical facilities are interacting with each other, the failure of some equipment can affect the entire system, so it is necessary to quickly detect and diagnose the abnormality of mechanical equipment. This study proposes a deep learning model that can effectively diagnose abnormalities in rotating machinery and equipment. CNN is widely used for feature extraction and LSTMs are known to be effective in learning sequential information. In LSTM, the number of parameters and learning time increase as the length of input data increases. In this study, we propose a method of segmenting an input segment signal into shorter-length sub-segment signals, sequentially inputting them to CNN through a time-distributed method for extracting features, and inputting them into LSTM. A failure diagnosis test was performed using the vibration data collected from the motor for ventilation equipment installed at the urban railway station. The experiment showed an accuracy of 99.784% in fault diagnosis. It shows that the proposed method is effective in the fault diagnosis of rotating machinery and equipment.

  • 천안함 피격사건 이후 대한민국 해군은 함정에 복합 추진체계를 탑재하여 운항 시 발생하는 진동 및 소음 문제를 줄이기 위한 노력을 기울이고 있다. 복합 추진체계는 함정의 저속 운항 구간에서 추진용 전동기를 이용하여 추진할 수 있는 장점을 가진다. 이는 기존의 내연기관만으로 이루어져 있는 기계 추진체계보다 우수한 정숙성을 가질 수 있고, 내연기관의 연료 효율이 불량한 저속 구간에서 전동기를 이용하기 때문에 보다 경제적이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 대한민국 해군에서 운용하고 있는 군수지원함을 바탕으로 가상함정을 설정하였으며 기존의 추진체계와 복합 추진체계의 연료 소비량을 시뮬레이션 하여 경제성 측면에서 비교 및 분석하였다. 그 결과 전동기를 겸하여 운용할 수 있는 복합 추진체계의 연료 효율이 상대적으로 개선된 것을 확인하였다.

선박 추진 장치를 위한 저속영역에서 최대토크를 가지는 고출력 BLDC 모터의 설계 (The Design of High-power BLDC Motor with Maximum Torque at Low Speed for Ship Propulsion)

  • 본 논문은 선박 추진 장치를 위한 저속 영역에서 최대 토크를 내는 대용량 BLDCM(Brushless DC motor)의 설계에 관한 연구이다. 기존의 추진 장치용 모터는 직류기 및 권선형 유도 전동기 등을 사용함으로 인하여 유지 보수가 필요하였다. 본 논문에서는 유지 보수가 필요 없고 저속에서 큰 토크를 발생 할 수 있는 BLDCM 설계를 하였다. 설계시 출력 리플 및 진동, 소음을 유발하는 코깅 토크 저감을 고려하기 위해 설계변수로 공극길이와 자극 각 등을 취하여 이의 변화에 대한 최저 코깅 토크를 가지는 최적형상을 구하고, 전동기 특성을 FEM과 Maxwell stress tensor법을 이용하여 해석하였다. 최저의 코깅 토크를 가지며 저속영역에서 최대 토크를 발생 할 수 있는 선박 추진 장치용 SPM type의 BLDCM을 설계하였다.
