  • This study analyzes the interior noise that is generated during acceleration of a passenger car in terms of car body structure and panel contribution. According to the transfer method, interior noise is classified into structure-borne noise and air-borne noise. Structure-borne noise is generated when the engine's vibration energy, an excitation source, is transferred to the car body through the engine mount and the driving system and the panel of the car body vibrates. When structure-borne noise resonates in the acoustic cavity of the car interior, acute booming noise is generated. This study describes plans for improving the car body structure and the panel form through a cause analysis of frequency ranges where the sound pressure level of the rear seat relative to the front seat is high. To this end, an analysis of the correlation between body attachment stiffness and acoustic sensitivity as well as a panel sensitive component analysis were conducted through a structural sound field coupled analysis. Through this study, via research on improving the car body structure in terms of reducing rear seat noise, stable performance improvement and light weight design before the proto-car stage can be realized. Reduction of the development period and test car stage is also anticipated.

  • In this paper, a new motor driving circuit is designed to improve the output performance of DC motor, and a controller is developed with the designed circuit. By the designed driving circuit, a controller can continuously drive DC motors by a transformer which has switching signals of a self-generated circuit to operate it. And while the DC motor have a maximum velocity, the reference voltage can be maintained higher value than that of triangle voltage and it makes the DC motor driving transistor ON and maximum power. A 24V-500W DC motor controller is developed with the proposed motor driving circuit, and also a small electric car is made and the driving test of it is executed. The test results shows that it can continuously control go and back speed of motor with 12A driving current. And also, it is verified that the over current and heat detecting function is operating correctly and the rest value of the used battery can be displayed as 6 step from 20 to 100%.

  • The final goal of this research is to establish the relative dangerousness D/B for factors on seakeeping performance. This D/B is essential to develope the seakeeping performance evaluation system built-on-ship. The system is composed of the apparatus for measuring a vertical acceleration to be generated by the ship's motions, computer for calculating the synthetic seakeeping performance index and monitor for displaying the evaluating diagram of navigational safety of ship. In this paper, a methodology on the establishment of the relative dangerousness D/B for factors on seakeeping performance is presented by a numerical simulations, playing an important role on the algorithm of the program for calculating the synthetic seakeeping performance index. Finally, It is investigated whether the relative dangerousness D/B can be realized an accurate values according to the loading conditions, weather conditions, wave directions end present ship's speed of a model ship.

  • LMTT (Linear Motor-based Transfer Technology) is the horizontal transfer system for yard automation, which has been proposed to take the place of AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) in the maritime container terminal. The system is based on PMLSM (Permanent Magnetic Linear Synchronous Motor) that consists of stator modules on the rail and shuttle car. It is desirable to reduce the weight of LMTT in order to control the electronic devices with minimum energy. In this research, structural optimization for a mover of shuttle car is performed to minimize the weight satisfying design criteria. The objective function is set up as weight. On the contrary, the design variables are transverse, longitudinal and wheel beams' thicknesses and its height, and the constraints are considered as strength and stiffness.

  • LMTT(Linear Motor based Transfer Technology) is a new type of transfer system used in the maritime container terminal for the port automation, and largely consists of a controller, shuttle car, and rail. The shuttle car is divided into the frame part, the driving part, and wheels. In order to design this system, various researched on each part of it must be conducted. In this study, we dealt with the optimum design for the frame part of the shuttle car designed from previous studies on the strength of the frame with respect to the number of cross beams to minimize the weight of the shuttle car and to satisfy design criteria of cargo-handling systems in container terminal. For the optimization of the frame, thicknesses of each beam were adopted as design variables, the weight of the frame as objective function, and stress and deflection per unit length as constraint conditions.

  • This study analyzed the expressions of racing girl uniforms that promote automobile brands shown at Seoul and Busan motor shows. The results are as follows. In each of the design components expression, the glossy and plain material, the achromatic color, and the dress style appeared most frequently in the uniform design of both domestic and foreign automobile brands. In the fashion image expression, sexy image appeared the most, followed by modern image, romantic image, active image, elegance image and ethnic image. Based on the analysis results, the following expressive characteristics were identified: First, sexy images were used in uniform design to express the streamline and speedy feeling of a car metaphorically. Second, modern image, glossy material, and achromatic color were used for a uniform design to express advanced technology and the future orientation of an automobile. Third, fashion images that match the automobile type emphasized the brand image of the car. Fourth, some of the manufacturers that prevailed in the automobile market promoted several automobile brands exhibited with a unified uniform design that expressed the design philosophy and concept. As such, the motor show racing girl uniform contributed to promoting automobile brand identity and the automobile industry.

  • Recently, the in-wheel motor vehicle is rapidly developed to solve energy exhaustion and environmental problems. Especially, it has the advantage of independently driving the torque control of each wheel in the vehicle. However, due to the weight increase of wheel, the comfort of vehicle riding and performance of road holding become worse. In this paper, to compensate the poor performance, a simultaneous control of the driving torque and semi-active suspension system is investigated. A vehicle model is generated using CarSim Software and validated by field tests. Co-simulation of CarSim and MATLAB/Simulink with control logics is carried out, and it is found that simultaneous control of the driving torque and semi-active suspension system can improve driving stability and durability of the in-wheel motor system.

  • The automotive vehicle is made through the following processes such as press shop, welding shop, paint shop, and general assembly. Among them, the most important process to determine the quality of the car body is the welding process. Generally, more than 400 pressed panels are welded to make BIW (Body In White) by using the RSW (Resistance Spot Welding) and GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding). Recently, as the needs of light-weight material due to the $CO_2$ emission issue and fuel efficiency, new joining technologies for aluminum, CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic) and etc. are needed. Aluminum parts are assembled by the spot welding, clinching, and SPR (Self Piercing Rivet) and friction stir welding process. Structural adhesive boning is another main joining method for light-weight materials. For example, one piece aluminum shock absorber housing part is made by die casting process and is assembled with conventional steel part by SPR and adhesive bond. Another way to reduce the amount of the car body weight is to use AHSS (Advanced High Strength Steel) panel including hot stamping boron alloyed steel. As the new materials are introduced to car body joining, productivity and quality have become more critical. Productivity improvement technology and adaptive welding control are essential technology for the future manufacturing environment.

The system is based on PLMSL (Permanent Magnetic Linear Synchronous Motor) that consists of stator modules on the rail and shuttle car. It is desirable to reduce the weight of LMTT in order to control the electronic devices with minimum energy. In this research, the DACE modeling, known as the one of Kriging interpolation, is introduced to obtain the surrogate approximation model of the structural responses. Then, the GRG(Generalized Reduced Gradient) method built in Excel is adopted to determine the optimum. The objective function is set up as weight. On the contrary, the design variables are considered as transverse, longitudinal and wheel beam's thicknesses, and the constraints are the maximum stresses generated by four loading conditions.
