영월 및 경주지진 파형의 주파수 분석(II) (Characteristics of Spectrum using Observed Ground Motion from the Yongwol and the Kyoungju Earthquakes(II))

  • Amplification factor spectrum using the observed strong ground motions database in the Korean Peninsula has been obtained and compared with Standard Rpectrum which wa suggested by United States Nuclear Regulatory Committee. The observed ground motions from the Yongwol and the Kyoungju Earthquakes respectively which are supposed to represent domestic seismotectonic characteristics such as seismic source attenuation of the propagation meium and site specific effect are used for the analysis of amplification factor spectrum,. The database are slightly different from the those of the second study. Amplification factors have been calculated by comparing the observed peak ground motions with results from responses to the observed horizontal na vertical ground motions. The comparison have shown that the amplification factors resultant from this study exceeds those of Standard Response Spectrum The results suggest that the characteristics of seismic strong ground motion which are supposed to represent the domestic seismotectonic characteristics differs from those of Standard Response Spectrum especially at higher frequencies. The results from the 2nd study are similar to those of 1st analysis.

LBS 응용을 위해 움직임 센서를 이용한 독거노인의 칼로리 소모 예측 모델 (Calorie Expenditure Prediction Model of Elderly Living Alone using Motion Sensors for LBS Applications)

  • 본 논문에서는 LBS(Location Based Service) 응용을 위한 독거노인의 일상 활동의 칼로리 소모 예측 모델을 제안한다. 제안한 방식은 PIR (Passive InfraRed) 움직임 센서를 이용하여 독거노인의 활동 패턴을 측정하고, 물리적 활동과 그에 따른 칼로리 소모의 관계를 검토한다. 제안된 움직임 감지 시스템은 개별 노인 주택에 설치되는 센싱 시스템과 중앙 서버 시스템으로 구성된다. 센싱 시스템은 PIR 센서를 장착한 무선 센싱 노드들로 구성된 무선 센서 네트워크 형태로 구현되었고, 각 센서가 감지한 노인들의 움직임은 홈 게이트웨이를 거쳐 중앙 데이터베이스 서버로 저장된다. 서버 시스템은 데이터베이스 서버와 웹 서버로 구성되어 있으며, 웹 기반 모니터링 시스템을 통해 저장된 움직임 데이터를 가공하여 독거노인들의 수발제공자에게 각 노인들의 효율적인 서비스를 제공한다. 실험을 통해 제안한 칼로리 소모 모델의 성능과 적용 가능성을 확인하였다.

  • Korean Sign Language (KSL) is a communication method for the Deaf in Korea, and hand shape is one of important elements in sign language. In this paper, we developed a KSL hand shape editor to simply compose hand shape and connect it to a database. We can edit hand shape by a graphical user interface (GUI) on 3D virtual reality environment. Hand shape codes are connected to a sign word editor to synthesize sign motion and to decrease total amount of KSL data.

  • One of the most critical issues in naval architecture these days is the operational safety. Among many factors to be considered for higher safety level requirements, the hull stability in intact and damaged conditions is the first to ensure for both commercial and military vessels. Unlike the intact stability cases, the assessment of the damaged ship stability is very complicated physical phenomena. Therefore it is widely acknowledged that computational fluid dynamics (CFD) methods are one of most feasible approaches. In order to develop better CFD methods for damaged ship stability assessment, it is essential to perform well-designed model tests and to build a database for CFD validation. In the present study, free roll decay tests in calm water with both intact and damaged ships were performed and six degree-of-freedom (6DOF) motion responses of intact ship in regular waves were measured. Through the free roll decay tests, the effects of the flooding water on the roll decay motion of a ship were investigated. Through the model tests in regular waves, the database that provides 6DOF motion responses of intact ship was established.

모형자동차 충돌시험의 데이터베이스를 이용한 측면 충돌사고 재구성 (A Study on the Side Collision Accident Reconstruction Using Database of Crush Test of Model Cars)

  • In this study, a side collision accident reconstruction using database based on the deformed shape information from the collision test using model cars is suggested. A deformation index and angle index related to the deformed shape is developed to set the database for the collision accident reconstruction algorithm. Two small size RC cars are developed to carry out the side collision test. Several side collision tests according to the velocity and collision angles are performed for establishing the side collision database. A high speed camera with 1000fps is used to capture the motion of the car. A side collision accident reconstruction algorithm is developed and applied to find the collision conditions before the accident occurs. Two collision cases are tested to validate the database and the algorithm. The results obtained by the reconstruction algorithm show good match with original conditions with regard to the velocity and angle.

Far-Side 실사고 분석과 승객거동해석 연구 (Study for Real-World Accident Database and Occupant Behavior Analysis in Far-Side Collisions)

  • Occupant behaviors and body contact with vehicle interior parts are main injury mechanism in far-side collisions. In vehicle side impact accident where the crash accident occurs on the opposite side of the vehicle from the a particular occupant, it is exposed in terms of relatively larger lateral motion to interact with the opposite side of the vehicle structure. The challenge of minimizing motions of upper body and injury risk according to a direct contact is a primary occupant protection research. This study has performed a data analysis of real-world accident database extracted from the 2016~2020 CISS database and a parametric investigation of impact angles and occupant kinematics in far-side lateral and oblique impact simulations. A detailed data analysis was conducted to reveal the relationship among the accident and injury data. Database analysis and computational far-side impact results proposed the fundamental vehicle design for safety improvement in far-side collisions.

3차원 이동 궤적 묘사를 통한 인간 동작 데이터 검색 (Searching Human Motion Data by Sketching 3D Trajectories)

  • 실제 사람의 움직임을 촬영하여 얻은 동작 데이터는 인체운동의 메커니즘을 이해하거나 가상 캐릭터의 애니메이션을 합성하기 위한 목적으로 널리 활용되고 있다. 주어진 동작 데이터로부터 원하는 동작을 검색하는 작업은 찾아낸 동작을 분석하고 편집하기 전에 선행되어야 하는 주요 과정이다. 본 논문은 기술어와 같은 별도의 메타 데이터 없이 원본 데이터에 내재된 정보만을 이용하여 검색을 수행하는 새로운 내용 기반 동작 데이터 검색 방법을 제안한다. 주로 신체 자세의 골격 형태나 평면 상의 이동 궤적에 초점을 맞춘 기존 검색 방식과 달리, 본 논문에서 제안하는 방법은 3차원 공간 상의 궤적을 질의로 입력 받아서 손, 발, 허리와 같은 신체 부위의 이동 궤적이 그와 가장 유사한 일련의 동작 구간들을 검출한다. 사용자가 직관적으로 공간적 궤적을 묘사할 수 있도록 하기 위하여, 본 논문의 실험에서는 손가락의 공간적 움직임을 정밀하게 추적할 수 있는 Leap Motion 제어기를 입력 도구로 사용하였다. 드리블, 슈팅 등의 다양한 동작이 포함된 농구 동작 데이터로부터 미리 선택된 수십 여개의 동작을 검색하는 사용자 테스트를 수행하여 제안된 방법의 효용성을 평가하였다.

Scaling of ground motions from Vrancea (Romania) earthquakes

  • This paper evaluates the scaling of ground motions recorded from nine intermediate-depth earthquakes produced in the Vrancea seismic zone in Romania. The considered ground motion database consists of 363 horizontal recordings obtained on soil classes B and C (according to Eurocode 8). An analysis of the inter- and intra-event spectral accelerations is performed in order to gain information regarding the magnitude and distance scaling of the Vrancea ground motions. The analyses reveal a significant influence of the earthquake magnitude and focal depth on the distance scaling and different magnitude and distance scaling for the two soil classes. A linear magnitude and distance scaling is inferred from the results for the range of magnitudes $5.2{\leq}M_W{\leq}7.1$. The results obtained are checked through stochastic simulations and the influence of the stress drop and kappa values on the ground motion levels is assessed. In addition, five ground motion models which were tested in other studies using recordings from Vrancea earthquakes are analyzed in order to evaluate their corresponding host stress drop and kappa. The results show generally a direct connection between the host kappa values and the host stress drop values. Moreover, all the ground motion models depict magnitude dependent host kappa and stress drop levels.

움직임 벡터와 빛의 특징을 이용한 비디오 인덱스 (Video Indexing using Motion vector and brightness features)

  • 본 논문에서는 움직임 벡터와 빛의 세기를 이용하여 비디오의 인덱싱과 검색 기법에 대하여 제안한다. 본 논문에서는 움직임 벡터의 특징과 빛의 세기를 계산하여 각 샷 당하나의 대표프레임을 추출하였다. 각각의 대표프레임은 빛의 흐름을 계산하였다. 즉 움직임벡터의 특징은 빛의 흐름으로부터 얻어냈고, BMA 는 움직임 벡터를 찾기 위해 사용했다. 그리고 빛의 세기 값을 히스토그램으로 변환 한 후 컷 검출에 사용하였다. 비디오 프레임의움직임 벡터와 빛의 세기 특징을 기반으로 비디오 데이터를 구성하고 인덱싱 하였다. 비디오 데이터베이스는 비디오의 접근을 위해 내용기반을 제공하고, 인덱스 특징은 B+ 트리 검색을 사용했고, 내부적으로 구성되어 단 노드 방식으로 저장되어 컴퓨터 저장장치에 직접 접근할 수 있게 했다. 본 논문에서는 비디오 데이터 모델을 기반으로 한 비디오 인덱스의 문제를 정의하였다.

A site-specific CFD study of passing ship effects on multiple moored ships

  • A local-analytic-based Navier-Stokes solver has been employed in conjunction with a compound ocean structure motion analysis program for time-domain simulation of passing ship effects induced by multiple post-Panamax class ships in the exact condition of a real waterway. The exact seabed bathymetry was reproduced to the utmost precision attainable using the NOAA geophysical database for Virginia Beach, NOAA nautical charts for Hampton Roads and Norfolk harbor, and echo sounding data for the navigation channel and waterfront facilities. A parametric study consists of 112 simulation cases with various combinations of ship lanes, ship speeds, ship heading (inbound or outbound), channel depths, drift angles, and passing ship coupling (in head-on or overtaking encounters) were carried out for two waterfront facilities at NAVSTA Norfolk and Craney Island Fuel Terminal. The present paper provides detailed parametric study results at both locations to investigate the site-specific passing ship effects on the motion responses of ships moored at nearby piers.
