  • $\textbullet$ A PC can control the fixed number of motors because the number of slots is limited. $\textbullet$ We propose a distributed motion controller using CAN. $\textbullet$ TMS320F243 of TI Which is a DSP with embedded CAN-module was used as the main processor. $\textbullet$ The command from GUI is transmitted to each motion controller through CAN-bus $\textbullet$ CAN communications may occur at a maximum recommended rate of 1Mbit/sec. $\textbullet$ The user can control more motors easily by connecting to the CAN network which has the CAN receive. $\textbullet$ This distributed motion controller may be used usefully in factory automation or an unmanned factory.

  • This paper describes the improvements made on hardware and software of the remote controller for realistic contents. The controller can provide vibrotactile feedback which uses both of a voice-coil actuator and a vibration motor. A vision tracking system for the 3D position of the controller is optimized with respect to the marker size and the camera parameters. We also present the improvements of motion recognition due to the effective motion segmentation and the fusion of vision and acceleration data. We apply the developed controller to realistic contents and validate its usability.

  • This paper studied on the lateral motion and yaw motion of the gantry crane that is used for the automated container terminal. Though several problems are occurred in driving of the gantry crane, they are solved by the motion by the operators. But, if the gantry crane is unmanned, it is automatically controlled without any operator. There are two types, cone and flat type in driving wheel shape. In cone type, the lateral vibration and yaw motion of crane are issued. In flat type, the collision between wheel-flange and rail or the fitting between wheel-flanges and rail is issued. Especially, the collision between wheel-flange and rail is a very critical problem in driving of unmanned gantry crane. To bring a solution to the problems, the lateral and yaw dynamic equations of the driving mechanism of two driving wheels are derived. Then, we investigate the driving characteristics of gantry crane. In this study, the proposed controller, based on Model Based Controller, is used to control the lateral displacement and yaw angle of the gantry crane. And the availability of the proposed controller is showed through the comparison with the result of the proposed controller and PD controller. The simulation results of the driving mechanism, using the Runge-Kutta Method that is one of the numerical analysis methods, are presented in this paper.

  • The motion control of the divertor maintenance system of the China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor (CFETR) was studied in this paper, in which CFETR Multi-Functional Maintenance Platform (MFMP) was simplified as a parallel robot for the convenience of theoretical analysis. In order to design the motion controller of parallel robot, the kinematics analysis of parallel robot was carried out. After that, the dynamic modeling of the hydraulic system was built. As the large variation of heavy payload on MFMP and highly nonlinearity of the system, A Fuzzy-PID controller was built for self-tuning PID controller parameters by using Fuzzy system to achieve better performance. In order to test the feasibility of the Fuzzy-PID controller, the simulation model of the system was built in Simulink. The results have showed that Fuzzy-PID controller can significantly reduce the angular error of the moving platform and provide the stable motion for transferring the divertor.

  • This thesis proposes a fuzzy logic cross coupled controller for a multi axis servo system. The overall control system consists of three elements: the axial position controller, the speed controller, and a fuzzy logic cross coupled controller. In conventional multi axis servo system, the motion of each axis is controlled independently without regard to the motion of other axes, in which the contour error, defined as the shortest distance between the desired and actual contours is compensated only by the position error of each axis. This decoupled control approach may result in degraded contouring performance due to such factors as mismatch of axial dynamics and axial loop gains. In practice, such systems contain many uncertainties, Therefore, the multi axis servo system must receive and evaluate the motion of all axes for a better contouring accuracy. Cross coupled controller utilizes all axis position error information simultaneously to produce accurate contours. However the existing cross coupled controllers cannot overcome friction, backlash and parameter variation. Also, since it is difficult to obtain an accurate mathematical model of multi axis system, here we investigate a fuzzy logic cross coupled controller method. Some simulations and experimental results are presented to illustrate the performance of the proposed controller.

  • A vehicle driving simulator is a virtual reality device which a human being feels as if the one drives a vehicle actually. The driving simulator is used effectively for studying interaction of a driver-vehicle and developing vehicle system of a new concept. The driving simulator consists of a vehicle motion bed system, motion controller, visual and audio system, vehicle dynamic analysis system, cockpit system, and etc. In it is paper, the main procedures to develop the driving simulator are classified by five parts. First, a motion bed system and a motion controller, which can track a reference trajectory, are developed. Secondly, a performance evaluation of the motion bed system for the driving simulator is carried out using LVDTs and accelerometers. Thirdly, a washout algorithm to realize a motion of an actual vehicle in the driving simulator is developed. The algorithm changes the motion space of a vehicle into the workspace of the driving simulator. Fourthly, a visual and audio system for feeling higher realization is developed. Finally, an integration system to communicate and monitor between sub systems is developed.

  • Crabbing motion is the pure sway motion of a ship without surge velocity. Thus, it can be applied to a berthing operation. Crabbing motion is induced by a peculiar operation method called the push-pull mode. The push-pull mode is induced by using a combination of the main propeller and side thruster. Two propellers generating the same amounts of thrust and rotating in opposite directions produce some yawing moment on a vessel but do not induce longitudinal motion. With the additional operation of side thrusters, the push-pull mode is used to induce a large amount of lateral force. In this paper, three-degree-of-freedom equations of motion such as for the surge, sway, and yaw are constructed for the crabbing motion. Based on these equations of motion, a feedback linearization control method is applied to auto-berthing control for a twin-screw ship with side thrusters. The controller can deal with the nonlinearity of a system, which is present in the berthing maneuver of a twin screw ship. A simulation of the auto-berthing of a ship is performed to validate the performance of the designed controller.

A Learning Controller for Gate Control of Biped Walking Robot using Fourier Series Approximation

  • A learning controller is presented for repetitive walking motion of biped robot. The learning control scheme learns the approximate inverse dynamics input of biped walking robot and uses the learned input pattern to generate an input profile of different walking motion from that learnt. In the learning controller, the PID feedback controller takes part in stabilizing the transient response of robot dynamics while the feedforward learning controller plays a role in computing the desired actuator torques for feedforward nonlinear dynamics compensation in steady state. It is shown that all the error signals in the learning control system are bounded and the robot motion trajectory converges to the desired one asymptotically.   • This paper presents an intelligent learning controller for repetitive walking motion of biped walking robot. The proposed learning controller consists of an iterative learning controller and a direct learning controller. In the iterative learning controller, the PID feedback controller takes part in stabilizing the learning control system while the feedforward learning controller plays a role in compensating for the nonlinearity of uncertain biped walking robot. In the direct learning controller, the desired learning input for new joint trajectories with different time scales from the learned ones is generated directly based on the previous learned input profiles obtained from the iterative learning process. The effectiveness and tracking performance of the proposed learning controller to biped robotic motion is shown by mathematical analysis and computer simulation with 12 DOF biped walking robot.
