The stdy of this study is to explore whether there is a social class difference in the relationship of mother and daughter-in-laws. The findings and summarized as follows. in the upper class the relationship of mother and daughter-in-laws seems 'fictitious one' In the middle class when her husband's occupation status is higher than his father's the relationship of mother and daughter-in-laws seems 'the relationship which is trobultesome only on daughter-in-law's behalf. When her husbands' occupation status is similar to his father's and her family is living together with in-laws and she and her mother-in=law are housewives the relationship of mother and daughter-in-laws seems 'the troublesome relationship for the both parts of mother and daughter-in-laws' In the same situation as above except the fact that the mother-in-law is housewife and daughter-in-law working the relationship between mother and daugther-in-laws seems apper to be 'interdependence' When her husband is self- mployed the daughter-in-laws keeps the interdepen-dent relationship with the mother-in-law. In the low class the relationship of mother and daughter-in-laws seems 'neglect' or 'conflicting'.
The purpose of this study is to explore the mother and daughter-in-laws relationship perceived by married man playing the role of eldest son. This study relied on the qualitative research method in order to approach the most inside of the very complicate and delicate human relationship such as mother and daughter-in-laws one. The data for this study was collected by the depth interviews. The finding was that married man perceived mother and daughter-in-laws relationship as a competitive relationship between women.
The purpose of this study is to analyze research on mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relation-ship. Also this study is the preliminary research for more scientific and wider studies on the mother-in-law an daughter-in-law relationship. For the analysis 39 articles which had been published from 1963 to 1991 were investigated by research contents research method and research findings. by research contents research method and research findings The main results are as follows: 1) Mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship researches are mostly analyzed the causes of conflict between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law of conflict between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. 2) Research method used is almost the survey research 3) It is difficult to generalize the research findings because of the unexquisiteness of methode-logy and the difference of the subject.
The primary purpose of this study was to investigate the nature and relationship of attitudes of mothers and their daughters concerning the value of children. the secondary interest was to compare this study with the American studies done by Bormann & Stockdale(1979), and Leavy & Hough(1983). Subjects for the study were college-age daughters their married sisters, and their mothers. The“Fawcett Opinions about Children Questionnair”was used to measure beliefs about children. Pearson Product Moment Correlations were computed for mother-daughter(married), mother-daughter(unmarried), and daughter(married)-daughter (unmarried) on each of nine subscales on value of children. To study the generation differences and marriage differences, matched sample t-test were carried. Several significant relationships were found for mother-daughter (married), daughter(married)-daughter (unmarried) pairs. Only one significant relationship was found for mother-daughter(unmarried) pairs. Significant differences were found between mother's group and daughters' groups on most subscales except one or two (generation effect). Significant differences were found between married daughters and unmarried daughters on 4 subscales(marriage effect). The results did not corroborate the findings of American studies which revealed the lack of congruence between mother and daughter attitudes. It was noted that as daughters had children themselves, their attitudes toward children had become more congruent with their mothers. There was also evidence to support the generation differences between mothers and daughters values. It was concluded that both value similarity and generation differences vary as a function of the particular events as well as age-itself.
This study compares how mother-daughter differentiation influences solidarity and relationship satisfaction between mothers-in-law and sons-in-law. The subjects of this study were 167 mothers-in-law (mean age, 59.6 years) paired with their sons-in-law (mean age, 36.9 years). Participants were given quantitative survey questionnaires on their relationships. Descriptive statistical analyses were conducted for the social and demographic characteristics of mothers-in-law and sons-in-law. Ordinary least square multiple regression analyses were also conducted to examine the level of mother-daughter differentiation, solidarity, and relationship satisfaction between mothers-in-law and sons-in-law. The results show that a higher age of the mothers-in-law results in lower relationship satisfaction between mothers-in-law and sons-in-law. Next, an increase the level of mother-daughter differentiation (which means more balance between intimacy and detachability) results in a higher overall solidarity, affectual solidarity, giving functional solidarity, and consensual solidarity between mothers-in-law and sons-in-law. However, there was no statistically significant difference in the receiving functional solidarity and normative solidarity between mothers-in-law and sons-in-law. Finally, the results show that a higher level of mother-daughter differentiation produces a higher relationship satisfaction between mothers-in-law and sons-in-law. The findings could provide a better understanding of inter-generational relationships in Korean family dynamics. The results also have implications for providing counseling for the development of healthy relationships between mothers-in-law and sons-in-law.
This study was intended to testify nature of mother and daughter-in-laws relation in the low class. In was assumed that it's relationship would be 'neglect' or 'interdependent' for their economic hardship by theoretical review. This study relies onthe qualitative research method in order to approach the most inside of the very complicate and delicate human relationship such as the mother and daughter-in-laws one. The findings showed that mother anddaughter-in-laws relation in low class was 'neglect' or 'conflicting' It was because they live separately and the daughter-in-law is not able to meet the demand from her mother-in-law due to her own economic hardship.
The purpose of the present study is to understand the change in the relation between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law according to the social change in comparison with the survey effects in 1974 (ko Jung-Ja) and 1985 to find out the cause of conflict in both side of power structure and affection structure, indicating behavior, the influences on the relationships among family, possible meditators. this thesis was made by an experimental research. Data were collected from 146 mothers-in-law and 141 daughters-in-law in Pusan. The collected data were analysed by statistical methods such is as follows, 1. cause of conflict In power structure the cause of conflict is, in the case of mother-in-law opinion opposion and shaughty attitude by daughter in-low and, in the case of daughter-in-law, domestic dominance. It is thought that there is a difference of viw\ew between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law about the possesion of economic dominance and many conflicts rises because of economic dominance. but the study in 1985 than 1974 suggests the possibility of conflict meditator because mother-in-law and daughter-in-law do homework dependently in the practice of power. In affection structure, the chief dissatisfaction toward daughter-in-law showes the change in time. In 1974, there was no affection and respect. In 1985, the rate of doing without consultation was high. Also, the lack of communication of mother-in-law and daughter-in-law is the cause of conflict. 2. Indicating behavior the rate of thinking alone if high in both sides. But in the survey of 1985, the covert verbal aggressive action with which mother-in-law appeals to her daughter and daughter-in-law to husband is rising. 3. Influence on the relationship among family by the conflict between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. the conflict between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law play negative effects on the intimacy and relation between husband and wife. 4. Conflict mediation behavior As compremiser, it is suggested that in the case of daughter-in-law the position and role of husband is important and, in the case of mother-in-law respects mother-in-law, daughter-in-law and gives her the role.

For the measurement of yin-yang clothing behavior, researcher developed a questionnaire. Data were collected from 422 women, both college women and her mothers. For the statistical analysis, frequency, distribution, t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Duncan's multiple range test, $x^2-test$, Pearson's correlation coefficients, analysis of covariance. multiple regression analysis were used. The results of this research can be summarized as follows: 1 There was significant difference in yin-yang clothing behavior according to home environmental variables such as family type, mother's employment. 2. There was not significant difference in mother's yin-yang clothing behavior according to mother's sex-role identity. But positive significant relationship was found between daughter's sex-role identity and daughter's yin-fang clothing behavior. 3. Mother's sex-role identity had influence on daughter's sex-role identity And mother's yin-yang clothing behavior had influence on daughter's yin-yang clothing behavior, too. 4. Mother's fin-yang clothing behavior and daughter's sex-role identity directly affected daughter's yin-yang clothing behavior, but mother's sex-role identity indirectly affected daughter's yin-yang clothing behavior.
This study is a thesis of the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law in a family based on the Korean family system. This is done by analysing how the traditional social system and the style of living are reflected in korean folk songs. This I believe is a necessity in order to understand the emotions and ideas of the word 'family' of Korea and to improve the state of the relations between mother-in-law and her daughter-in-law. I have divided this into 4 essential study points. First the family system illustrated in korean folk songs are mainly father centered family system. It caused a male-oriented society and women's subordination. Second, the relationship between mother-in-law and her daughter-in-law illustrated in folk songs are mostly vertical subordinate. This is easily described as a lord and servant relationship. Third the state of relationship reflected in the folk songs from a daughter-in-law's point of view is obedience to her husband's family nostal ia to her family desperation and opposition. Lastly the state of relationship from mother in law's point of view are discord cruel treatment the rule and power which herself carry.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship among mother-daughter relationship, husband-wife relationship, and prenatal attachment according to pregnant women's internal working model. Method: A convenience sample of 68 pregnant women was recruited from two OBGYN hospitals in M city. Data collection was conducted through the use of an Adult Attachment Interview and questionnaires. This study used a descriptive correlational design and the period of investigation was from July 3-20, 2002. 41 of the 68 women were in a secure pregnant women's internal working model and 27 of the 68 in insecure ones. The data were analyzed by Chi-square test, t-test, and Pearson Correlation Coefficient. Result: The results of this study were as follows: Mean score of the prenatal attachment of the secure pregnant women and mean score of the mother-daughter relationship of the secure pregnant women was significantly higher than that of insecure ones. 3) Prenatal attachment was negatively and significantly related to mother-daughter attachment and husbandwife attachment in the secure pregnant women's internal working model. However it was not significantly relationship in insecure pregnant women's internal working model. Conclusion: It is found in this study that there is an intergenerational attachment relationship during pregnancy. Further findings support the development of creative strategies to enhance positive attachment relationships for pregnant women. It is recommended to develop nursing education of attachment for the insecure pregnant women's internal working model.
