In this work we have investigated electrical and optical properties of interface for ITO/Si with shallow doped emitter. The ITO is prepared by DC magnetron sputter on p-type monocrystalline silicon substrate. As an experimental result, The transmittance at 640nm spectra is obtained an average transmittance over 85% in the visible range of the optical spectrum. The energy bandgap of ITO at oxygen flow from 0% to 4% obtained between 3.57eV and 3.68eV (ITO : 3.75eV). The energy bandgap of ITO is depending on the thickness, sturcture and doping concentration. Because the bandgap and position of absorption edge for degenerated semiconductor oxide are determined by two competing mechanism; i) bandgap narrowing due to electron-electron and electron-impurity effects on the valance and conduction bands (> 3.38eV), ii) bandgap widening by the Burstein-Moss effect, a blocking of the lowest states of the conduction band by excess electrons( < 4.15eV). The resistivity of ITO layer obtained about $6{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}cm$ at 4% of oxygen flow. In case of decrease resistivity of ITO, the carrier concentration and carrier mobility of ITO film will be increased. The contact resistance of ITO/Si with shallow doped emitter was measured by the transmission line method(TLM). As an experimental result, the contact resistance was obtained $0.0705{\Omega}cm^2$ at 2% oxygen flow. It is formed ohmic-contact of interface ITO/Si substrate. The emitter series resistance of ITO/Si with shallow doped emitter was obtained $0.1821{\Omega}cm^2$. Therefore, As an PC1D simulation result, the fill factor of EWT solar cell obtained above 80%. The details will be presented in conference.

The purpose of this study is to test performances of 14 types of root barrier materials by applying testing plant: and soils suitable for weather and natural features of Korea. For testing Plants, Plioblastus pygmaed Mitford A and Pyracantha angustifolia have been selected. For testing soil, mixture of pearlite and peat moss in 3:1 ratio Testing container has been fabricated with duplicated structure having inner and outer containers. And the outer container has 2 hinges on its side wall to allow opening and closing. Wet rock wool with 50mm in thickness has been inserted between inner and outer containers to allow root to penetrate through root barrier material and continue to grow. We planted 12 Plioblastus pygmaed Mitford A. and 4 Pyracantha angustifolia per one testing container. Three testing samples have been made for 1 type of root barrier material, which become a total 42 specimens. Planted testing samples have been installed within the greenhouse, which will be observed regularly for 2 years from now on. We started test from July 11, 2008 and had performed intermediate observations every month for initial 3 months. From the 3rd intermediate observation on Sept. 18, we confirmed that 6 types of roe barrier materials have penetrated roots. Even though two types of them have been generally used as root barrier materials for roof planting system, all of three testing samples have a lot of penetrated roots. This result proves that it is not reasonable to introduce testing methods of root barrier from Europe. USA or Japan.

Pasture composed of about 30% botanical composition of white clover (Trijolium repem L.) is desirable in its productivity and quality. To get information on maintaining its productivity in the pasture, the experiment was canied out to determine the effect of infrequent, frequent defoliation or their alternation on change of its harvest yield and growth. Individual plants of Regal, Louisiana S-1, Grasslands Huia and Aberystwyth S184 were grown in 22cm plastic pot containing a 2 : 1 : 1 soil : sand : Peat moss mixture for 27 days after transplanting 50day seedlings raised on 3cm pots, and then all their fully expanded leaves are removed. Defoliation treatments were forced every 1 (CC, frequent), 4 week (RR, infrequent) or their alternations (CR, RC) after 8 weeks from the removal. To analyze the treatment effects, plants were sampled on 0 (the removal day), 4, 8, 12 and 16 weeks after the removal and seperated to leaves, petioles, stolons and roots. Each harvest yield of infrequent defoliation (RR) was higher than that of frequent defoliation (CC). Their alternations (RC, CR), however, forced fluctuation of the yield according to defoliation interval. Fraction weights from their altemations showed intermediate ones of infrequent and Frequent defoliation whose weights did the similar result to their harvest yields. Fraction and total dry weights per plant, shoot/root ratio were changed by relative span of defoliation interval, which resulted from the weights of leaves and petioles, removed parts. Root and total dry weight per plant of Regal were greater than the other cultivm in infrequent defoliation interval regardless of continuous or alternations. Productivity of white clover in pasture, therefore, can be controlled by alternation of infrequent and frequent defoliation or reverse.
The Sclerotium blight was found on Phalaenopsis spp. at Dong-du-cheon city, and Hwa-seong city, Gyenggido, Korea in September 2009. The symptom included yellowing on lower leaves and wilt of a whole plant. Severely infected plants were blighted and died eventually. White mycelial mats appeared on the surface of basal stem and bulbs and the sclerotia were formed on stems, roots, and sphagnum moss. The sclerotia were spherical, 1-3 mm and white to brown. The optimum temperature for the growth and sclerotia formation was $25-30^{\circ}C$ on PDA. On the pathogenicity test, the first symptom appeared 5 days after inoculation and developed to severe stem rot and blight. On the basis of mycological characteristics and pathogenicity, the causal fungus was identified as Sclerotium rolfsii. This is the first report on the sclerotium blight on Phalaenopsis spp. caused by Sclerotium rolfsii in Korea.
The Sclerotium blight was found on Neofinetia falcata at Yong-in city, Gyenggi-do, Korea. The symptom occurred low leaves yellowish and wilt of a whole plant. Severely infected plants were blighted and dies eventually. White mycelial mats appeared on the surface of basal stem and bulbs and the sclerotia were formed on stems, roots, and sphagnum moss. The sclerotia were spherical in shape, 1~3 mm in size and white to brown in color. The optimum temperature for the growth and sclerotia formation was $25{\sim}30^{\circ}C$ on PDA. On the pathogenicity test, the first symptom was appeared 5 days after inoculation and development to severe stem rot and blight. The causal fungus was identified as Sclerotium rolfsii and we suggested to call that the new Sclerotium blight on Neofinetia falcata caused by Sclerotium rolfsii in Korea.
Protoplasts were isolated from hypocotyl tissues of 5-day-old Brassica oleracea var capitata Green Challenger seedlings. Several media were used for protoplast culture and shoot regeneration. The shoot-regeneration rapacity of protoplast derived callus depended on the initial culture medium. Protoplasts were cultured in liquid medium (B5 medium supplemented with CaCl2, 2H2O 600mg/L, g1ucose 20g/L, D-mannito1 70g/L, NAA lmg/L, BA lmg/L, 2.4-D 0.25 mg/L)at 27$^{\circ}C$ under the dark After 5 to 10 days, cultlues were diluted with medium with a reduced osmotic stabilizer and then transferred to illuminated conditions. The culture medium was changed with the fresh medium at 7- to 10-day-intervals until the formation of microcallus. Hypocotyl protoplast-derived callus proliferated when transferred to MS medium supplemented with NAA lmg/L, BA 1mg/L and GA$_3$ 0.02mg/L. Upon transfer to MS basal medium without growth regulators, roots were produced. In an attempt to increase the regeneration frequency, 10g/L polyvinylpyrrolidone was added to the regeneration medium, but the shoot regeneration was mot improved. The regenerated whole plants were acclimated in a sterized soilless mixture(vermiculite 2;perlite 2;peat moss1) in a culture room.
Aronia (Aronia melanocarpa, Black chokeberry) is an important cash crop in domestic agriculture. We investigated the effects of plant growth regulators on shoot proliferation and rooting using in vitro tissue culture. The most effective shoot multiplication was observed on WPM (woody plant medium) supplemented with 1.0 mg/L zeatin ($8.3{\pm}1.0$ shoots/explant), while the highest rooting rate was obtained from half-strength WPM with 3.0 mg/L IBA (8.8 roots/explant). The rooted plantlets all survived in the artificial soil mixture (with a mixture of peat moss : perlite : vermiculite, 1:1:1, v/v/v) and grew up relatively uniform, ranging from 14 to 16 leaves, 8 to 10 cm in stem height, and 2.3 to 2.8 mm in stem diameter. While experimenting with 5 different varieties of Aronia, we found out that each variety had different characteristics of shoot proliferation and rooting. The total numbers of proliferated shoots per variety is as follows: $17.4{\pm}0.8$ for Nero, 14 to 15 for Purple and Mackenzie, and 10 for both Viking and Odamamachiko. Rooting rates were also various depending on the variety: 88% of Odamamachiko, 80% of Viking and Purple, and 76% of Nero and 60% of Mackenzie shoots rooted. The survival rate of the rooted plantlets was from 92% to 100%, varying by type. Further growth appeared to be better in auxin-treated plantlets, compared to untreated ones. Our results showed the possibility of establishing an effective in vitro micropropagation system for Aronia melanocarpa.

This study was conducted to investigate the optimal conditions for spore germination, prothallus propagation, sporophyte formation, and seedling growth in Polystichum braunii (Spenn.) $F{\acute{e}}e$. The rate of spore germination and early prothalium development was high in Knop (41.2%), which had low mineral content. The optimal medium for prothallus propagation and sexual organ formation was 2MS medium (2% sucrose). Among the various mixtures of cultivation soil (bedding soil, peat moss, perlite, and decomposed granite), a mixture of bedding soil and decomposed granite at a ratio of 2:1 (v:v) had a positive effect on sporophyte formation (276.3 ea/$7.5m^2$). The most efficient conditions for promoting the growth of sporophytes were pots filled with only bedding soil.
Organic and inorganic substrates commonly used in Korea include peat moss, coir, bark, rice hull, saw dust, perlite, vermiculite, rockwool granulate, clay ball, and so on. The objective of this study was to get analytical results about the physical and chemical properties of these substrates by European standard methods. Organic substrates showed different properties depending on the type, origin and manufacturing processes. Inorganic substrates showed different properties depending on the type and particle size. Further study on physical and chemical properties for more raw materials and commercially available growing media analyzed by European standard method and comparison of the results with those by Korean standard method is needed.
