The purpose of this study is to render policy suggestions for policy makers by analysing problems with regard to regulations. The suggestions of this study are such as the following. First, the current three months of the fund formation period should be extended within six months for general partners to have enough time to raise funds in the current tough capital market situation. Second, the government's non priority loss devotion system should keep going to prevent general partner's moral hazard. Third, in order to fulfill the policy purpose that is to create globally well-known companies, the government investment ratio should scale up from the current 20% to 30% of the total fund size in that the stable capital supply for core technology commercialization, industrialization and globalization of companies is achieved. Finally, general partners of the New Growth Engine Fund should showoff their investment abilities to the potential investors such as institutional investors by accumulating all track records and know-hows that prove their specialities and implementing action plans to achieve the best result of their investment. This study provides general considerations of the selection procedure, the government investment ratio, the government priority loss devotion system and so on when formating the public funds.

  • This study draws on a sociopolitical perspective to investigate the possible impact of champion leadership by project leaders on project viability(resource supply and organizational support) and team members' team efficacy by analyzing the empirical data of 92 ongoing projects collected from 22 public and private R&D institutes in the electronics, telecommunication, machinery, and chemical industries. Results revealed that higher level of project championing by project leader tended to positively related to a high level of organizational support and resource supply. It was also found that teams members who experienced higher level of project championing by project leader tended to have higher team efficacy. Furthermore, project type and innovative climate moderate the champion leadership-project performance relationships. The results found in this study offer several theoretical and managerial implications. First, champion leadership by project leaders is quite helpful to get more moral support and legitimacy of the organization for the project, and thus for acquisition of more tangible and intangible resources required for successful implementation of the R&D project. Champion leadership by project leaders also impacts the morale and self-confidence of the team members. Project leaders gives a sense of purpose and meaning to project members by actively and enthusiastically promoting the project, and by expressing confidence in team members' capabilities to perform a given task. In addition, his or her soliciting assistance and additional resources can contribute the building the confidence of members that the project can be performed well. Second, the relationship between champion leadership and project performances is context-specific (i.e., project type and innovative climate). This study is one of the few to have tested the moderating effects between champion leadership and project performances with a empirical research design. This study extends the current knowledge on champion leadership in the innovation process by generalizing their importance in R&D projects to a new industrializing context, Korea, and further sheds light on the contingent relationship between champion leadership and project performances in the innovation process. Based on these findings, some areas for future research are discussed.

Based on the collected data, the status of medical ethics lectures were determined and compared with the current state of medical ethics lectures by western medical schools. The contents suitable for medical ethics education at medical schools of Korean medicine were discussed. Results : The topics of the medical ethics include: the basic concepts of medical ethics, the ethics of birth, the ethics associated with genetics, the ethics associated with death, and the ethics regarding doctor-patient interaction, the ethics of medical research, medical rationing ethics, ethics between medical staffs, medical law and ethics, philosophical base of medical ethics, ethics of doctor as professional, and moral personality formation of doctor. The contents of medical ethics in traditional Korean medicine reflected views on the human body and life based on "Huangdi's Internal Classic"and medical ethics from the viewpoints of Buddhism and Confucianism. Conclusions : Medical schools of Korean medicine are medical training institutions, and medical ethics education is essential to become a Korean medicine doctor as professional worker, medical practitioner, and biomedical researcher. There is no fundamental difference in the basic principles of medical ethics in both western and Korean medicine, and there are differences in contents depending on the clinical practice. The contents of medical ethics on clinical practice should be modified for Korean medicine doctors, and traditional Korean medicine ethics would be set up upon that. In the national licensing examination, medical ethics needs to be added as one part so that all the ethical problems related to the clinical situation can be solved.

  • The characteristics of Hyeonmoyangcheo-ism (wise mother, good wife) in the 1950s, which were observed through the girls' school curriculums and homekeeping textbooks, were arranged as follows. Firstly, Hyeonmoyangcheo-ism in homekeeping textbooks in the 1950s stressed the modern housewife. The Confucianwomen's virtues, such as submissiveness, faithfulness and samjongjido (obedience to father, husband and son), that were in girls' moral training and home management textbooks during the Japanese imperialism. This was a part of girls' education built on democracy and equality asserted by a new Korea, the 'modern nation'. Secondly, with the increasing demands for women's labor after the Korean War, women's occupations were reinforced and incorporated in homekeeping textbooks in the 1950s. Even though having a job was a secondary task to the role of a homemaker, the details of women's occupation illustrates the characteristics of Hyeonmoyangcheo-ism in this period of time. Thirdly, The resident practice program emphasized the tradition women's behavior along with the modern homemaker, the rational designer of homekeeping. This seems to have been reinforced from the criticism towards women based on Westernization after the Korean War.

  • This study set out to analyze the perceptions of investigative police officers and division police officers regarding Police Investigation Specialization, which had been in effect for four years, identify the problems, and search for alternative policies. The results led to the following alternative policies; first, the communication among the members should be facilitated by trading the jobs between investigative policemen and division members in certain percentage regularly, integrating job education and special work, and developing diverse support programs for detective activities to provide them with opportunities to experience and understand investigation. The second suggestion concerns the investigation members' morale. There should be a range of measures to boost their moral such as allocating separate budget and personnel to support the investigation department and the treatment of major criminal and civil cases, giving each investigation team an office and investigation room to improve their working environment, readjusting the promotion ratio of Police Investigation Specialization to introduce a promotion system proper for each investigation's characteristics. The third suggestion is to secure job efficiency. It's required to reinforce the current short-term specialized education program to bring up practical and professional investigators, open the certification exam of professional investigators to all members so that every policeman can have their abilities recognized and approved as long as they have the demanded capabilities, and create a system of shedding off the members idle at work by reflecting low performance records when evaluating the members to decide who to dismiss from Police Investigation Specialization. And finally, it's important to divide duties rationally. The rationality of duties division can be guaranteed by setting the guidelines for direct handling for the team leader to help him devote himself to his duties, defining objective criteria of measuring investigation workload, and creating devoted systems and teams for simple and small accidents so that experienced investigators can deal with high-profile cases.

  • "The four types of temperament" (hereinafter "Sa-Sang Constitutional Medicine") is applied to not only medicine, but also various fields like management, politics, education, etc. Despite that "Sa-Sang Constitutional Medicine" is "Mind-Body Medicine" which is fundamentally based on "Controling Mind and Body", though, it was rarely used for psychotherapy in practical. Practical treatment on clinical medicine is limited to only medicine-treatment or acupuncture-therapy. However treatment on illness and pathological phenomenon suggested by "Sa-Sang Constitutional Medicine" keeps individual's nature in control, and it governs environmental facts: age, region, and socio-cultural factors: alcohol, debauchery, riches, authority(酒 色 財 權). Especially, "Moral Cultivation" in "Sa-Sang Constitutional Medicine" emphasizes the importance of properly understanding vice(邪心) and laziness(怠行) concealed in natural temperament of human being, and pursuing "Understanding Each Other(博通)" and "Upright Conduct by Oneself(獨行)". Furthermore, because "Sa-Sang Constitutional Medicine" is developing medical theory based on "Understanding Others(知人)" and "Straighten Oneself(正己)" doing try integral approach, it has great implications for the present generation that forms much of social connection. Similarly, Ken Wilber who is one of representatives of "World Philosophy" and "Integral Psychology" is suggesting "Integral Life Practice" (hereinafter ILP) - applies practical and heuristic "Integral Approach" to individual experiences. ILP is the only practical discipline for development of viable whole-area. ILP says that there are four core modules: body, mind, shadow, spirit(靈), and five auxiliary modules: morals(倫理), gender(性), work(일), emotion(情緖), relationships(關係性). These nine modules could apply mind-body treatment of "Sa-Sang Constitutional Medicine", and thereby more developed mind-body treatment would be found.

  • This study examines the effect of the liability limitation provision (LLP) adoption on firm's cost behavior. In April 2011, Korea introduced the LLP with the purpose of improving the management efficiency by mitigating the risks caused by the manager's failure to make decisions related to business operation. However, there are concerns that the adoption of LLP may lead the manager's moral hazard, so the need for empirical research to verify the effect of the LLP adoption is emphasized. In this study, we analyze the effect of the LLP adoption empirically, focusing on the cost behavior that is affected by the manager's decision making. From the empirical result, we find that LLP adopted companies have strengthened the cost stickiness of selling, general, and administrative costs rather than non-adopted companies. This suggests that the manager of LLP adopted company makes a more active decision to consider adjusting costs in order to prepare for future recovery in sales when sales is reduced. This study presents empirical evidence to prove the policy validity of the adoption of LLP, and we expect that our results can contribute to the capital market and academia.
