  • In the past, buyers and suppliers met each other to find common interests off-line in exhibitions and conferences, or through personal connection. These activities were time consuming and costly. With the advent of information era, these activities moved to online market places, where buyers search for suppliers with a set of keywords that are believed to be representative of their requirements. Its fundamental assumption is that all the potential candidates are registered in a certain database. However, recently buyers want to diversify suppliers due to needs of cost competitiveness or frequent new product development. To this end, instead of choosing suppliers from the supplier pool, discovering suppliers from all over the world should be emphasized. In order to enable buyers to describe their requirements and suppliers to capture their manufacturing capabilities via online market places, the semantic differences of terms between buyers and suppliers should be resolved. The paper summarizes various supplier discovery frameworks and prototype systems, which can be employed to expose domestic small-medium enterprises into global buyers in the near future.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the 'Scenery of the Urban Residence' represented in Korean films of the liberation period. It is assumed that public films reflect the human activities, residential culture and cityscape of those days. For the analysis, a pool of 7 Korean films from 1946 till 1949 was constructed. In these films, the sceneries of the urban life were represented as the following: 1) The western-style architectural spaces, such as cultural residence and apartment were emphasized to reflect the longing and curiosity of the general public for modern culture and lifestyle. 2) The cityscape including a narrow alley, crossroads and modern buildings was intentionally represented to express visually the city of Seoul under the slow wave of modernization.

  • The shutoff unit was designed to provide rapid insertion of neutron absorbing material into the reactor core to shutdown the reactor quickly and also to withdraw the absorber slowly to avoid a log-rate trip. Four shutoff units were installed on the HANARO reactor but the half-core test facility was equipped with one shutoff unit. The reactor trip or shutdown is accomplished by four shutoff units by insertion of the shutoff rods. The shutoff rod(SOR) is actuated by a directly linked hydraulic cylinder on the reactor chimney, which is pressurized by a hydraulic pump. The rod is released to drop by gravity, when triplicate solenoid valves are de-energized to vent the cylinder. The hydraulic pump, pipe and air supply system are provided to be similar with the HANARO reactor. The shutoff rod drops for 647mm stroke within 1.13 seconds to shut down the reactor and it is slowly inserted to the full down position, 700mm, with a damping. We have conducted the drop test of the shutoff rod in order to show the performance and the structural integrity of operating system of the shutoff unit. The present paper deals with the 647mm drop time and the withdrawal time according to variation of the pool water temperature, the water level and the core flow.

  • Landscape structure, habitat types, vegetation structure and biodiversity in the Bokha stream chosen as a reference stream were investigated to get ecological information necessary for restoration of urban stream degraded by excessive artificial interference. Landscape structure showed a slight change between before and after flooding. Habitat types of nine sorts were identified based on ecological information obtained from field survey such as micro-topography, hydrological characteristics, disturbance regime, and so on. Each habitat holds specific organisms to each site. Consequently, the number of plant communities, and species of benthos and fish increased as the kinds of habitat type increase. Ordination of habitat types based on vegetation, benthos, and fish data reorganized them into three groups of pool types of two kinds depending on whether they are connected to the water course or not and riffle one. Vegetation showed different stratification and species composition depending on topographical position in relation to disturbance cycle. Based on the results from this study, relationship between environmental heterogeneity and biodiversity was discussed and a restoration plan was suggested in a viewpoint of vegetation.

  • El Nino and Southern Oscillation (ENSO) presents a broad band (2-8 year) variability and slowly changing amplitude and period, which are respectively referred to as ENSO irregularity and ENSO modulation. In this study, we developed a nonlinear low-order climate model by combining the Lorenz-63 model of nonlinear atmospheric variability and a simple ENSO model with recharge oscillator characteristics. The model successfully reproduced the ENSO-like variations in the sea surface temperature of eastern Pacific, such as the peak period, wide periodicity, and decadal modulations. The results show that the chaotic atmospheric forcing can lead to ENSO irregularity and ENSO modulation. It is also suggested the high probability of La Nina development could be associated with strong convection of the western warm pool. Although it is simple, this model is expected to be used in research on long-term climate change because it well captures the nonlinear air-sea interactions in the equatorial Pacific.

  • Objectives : The aim of this study is to review the effects of acupuncture on lower limb spasticity control in stroke patients. Methods: H-reflex/M-response ratio and Modified Ashworth Scale was used for evaluation of spasticity control before acupuncture, within one hours after acupuncture , at twenty-four hours, and four weeks. We divided two groups. One is the yin meridian acupunctured goup and the other is the yang meridian acupunctured group. Results: H/M ratio is declined within 1 or 24 hours after acupuncture for poststroke spasticity patients. The yin meridian acupunctured group is a bit more efficient than the yang meridian acupunctured goup. But there is no meaning in the statistics because of small patient pool. Conclusions: We need more patients group to decide the effect of electro- acupuncture on leg spasticity of stroke patients.

  • The value of $^{99}Tc-RBC$ scintigraphy and SPECT in the diagnosis of hepatic hemangioma was evaluated in 27 patients with 38 hemangiomas and 13 patients with 15 nonhemangiomas. Twenty four (63.2%) of 38 hemangiomas were detected by planar delayed RBC imaging, whereas 30 (78.9%) hemangiomas were detected by the delayed RBC SPECT. Increase in sensitivity was noted in nodules less than 2 cm in diameter. The smallest hemangioma shown by delayed RBC SPECT was 0.9 cm in diameter. All of nonhemangiomatous lesions show normal or decreased activity in delayed blood pool images. We concluded that $^{99m}Tc-RBC$ SPECT is an accurate method for the detection of hepatic hemangioma and is more sensitive than planar imaging in depicting small lesions.

  • The critical heat flux (CHF)experiments have been carried out in a wide range of pressures for an internally heated vertical annulus. The experimental conditions covered ranges of pressures from 0.57 to 15.01 MPa, mass fluxes of 0 kg/$m^2$s and from 200 to 650 kg/$m^2$s, and inlet subcoolings from 85 to 413 kJ/kg. The characteristics of the present data and the effect of pressure on CHF are discussed. Most of the CHFs were identified to dryout of the liquid film in the annular or annular-mist flow. For the mass flux of 200 kg/$m^2$s, there were the indications that the CHF occurred at the transition from annular to annular-mist How in the pressure range of 3~10 MPa. For the mass fluxes of 550 and 650 kg/$m^2$s, the CHFs had a maximum value at a pressure of 2~3 MPa, and the pressure at the maximum CHF values had a trend moving toward the pressure at the peak value of pool boiling CHF as the mass flux decreased. The CHF data under a zero mass flux condition indicate that both the effects of pressure and inlet subcooling on the CHF were smaller, compared with those on the CHF with net water upward flow.

  • This study had the goal of designing onboard structures for a pre-pilot mining test (PPMT), which is required for the commercialization of the deep-sea mining industry. This PPMT is planned to validate the performance of a hydraulic lifting system and verify the concept of operating through a moon-pool in the east sea, Korea. All of the onboard equipment and facility were designed by KRISO. Because the test was performed at the first development, it is difficult to determine what risk will occur in the facility. Therefore, risk-based design is required in the facility for the PPMT, which includes the facility layout, failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA), and risk reduction plan. All of the expected performances of the lifting system itself and the onboard facilities were qualitatively validated using the risk-based design.
