  • The purpose of this study is to enhance the quality of multimedia service under the heterogeneous end-terminals and network environment by monitoring the data receiving status of the group members regularly when the sender multicasts real-time multimedia data to a group. Especially, it focuses to reduce the total number of status information responded to the sender from the receivers. Accordingly. it upgrades the sender's performance by suppressing the number of status information packets generated by the receivers. The key idea of this study starts from how we profile the activity of all the members in a group. We assume that the receiver status in the worst status, so called primary receiver, represents the status of the whole group. This means that the whole group is assumed as being degraded in performance if the primary receiver is degraded, and that the whole group is assumed as being upgraded if the primary one is upgraded. In this algorithm, the primary receiver announces its status information to the whole group prior to other receivers, ana every receiver listening to the primary and other receivers' status compares its own status with them. Accordingly, any receiver may give up the status notification in case its status is not worse than others, resulting in the reduction of unnecessary responses to the sender.

  • DCS (Distributed Control System), the main control system of power plants, is an automated system for enhancing operational efficiency by monitoring, tuning and real-time operation. DCS is becoming more intelligent and open systems as Information technology are evolving. In addition, there are a large amount of investment to enable proactive facility management, maintenance and risk management through the predictive diagnostics. However, new upcoming weaponized malware, such as Stuxnet designed for disrupting industrial control system(ICS), become new threat to the main control system of the power plant. Even though these systems are not connected with any other outside network. The main control systems used in the power plant usually have been used for more than 10 years. Also, this system requires the extremely high availability (rapid recovery and low failure frequency). Therefore, installing updates including security patches is not easy. Even more, in some cases, installing security updates can break the warranty by the vendor's policy. If DCS is exposed a potential vulnerability, serious concerns are to be expected. In this paper, we conduct the penetration test by using NESSUS, a general-purpose vulnerability scanner under the simulated environment configured with the Ovation version 1.5. From this result, we suggest a log analysis method to detect the security infringement and react the incident effectively.

  • There are some cases in trouble with monitoring emergency patient by existing electrode sensor in measuring instrument in home and hospital etc. And there are problem to measure because of coming down electrode in emergency car or vessel of shaking and fat, humidity of patient. In this study, it has designed band-type for patient to put on the breast easily and go around anywhere freely putting band electrode on his body. Gold has used as electrode material in this electrocardiogram because of its excellent electronic resistance peculiarity and no trouble with skin. And it is able to monitor multi-body-signal by additional design of periphery temperature. There are good results of body signal transmission in the breast or the rib, and get a little body signal in abdomen. We get a result it is better case of gold than usual electrode on signal detection, and know usual electrode was disposable, but we have more correct result from gold electrode sensor, being semi-permanent ana. great contact ability even if movement.

  • In general, understanding groundwater flow in fractured bedrock is critical during tunnel and underground cavern construction. In that case, borehole data may be useful to examine groundwater flow properties of the fractured bedrock from pre-excavation until completion stages, yet sufficient borehole data is not often available to acquire. This study evaluated groundwater discharge rate into Jikri tunnel in Gyeonggi province using hydraulic parameters, groundwater level data in the later stage of tunneling, national groundwater monitoring network data, and electrical resistivity survey data. Groundwater flow rate into the tunnel by means of analytical method was estimated $7.12-74.4\;m^3/day/m$ while the groundwater flow rate was determined as $64.8\;m^3/day/m$ by means of numerical modeling. The estimated values provided by the numerical modeling may be more logical than those of the analytical method because the numerical modeling could take into account spatial variation of hydraulic parameters that was not possible by using the analytical method. Transient modeling for a period of one year from the tunnel completion resulted in the recovery of pre-excavation groundwater level.

  • A normal body temperature data base for cattle was established to utilize for automatic monitoring of abnormal body condition of cattle by using sensor network and radio frequency identification technology. Three castrated Holstein cattle (mean body weight: $318{\pm}12kg$) were employed for body temperature measurement. Animals were adapted at the stanchion barn over 2 weeks, and 4 places (skins of ear, neck, head and subcutaneous tissue of neck) of body temperatures were continuously measured through thermocouples and recorder devices for 9 days. All places of body temperatures were fluctuated throughout the day and showed a cyclic pattern, with higher temperature in day time and lower temperature in nigh time. Normal subcutaneous tissue temperature (core temperature) in a day was ranged from $36.1^{\circ}C$ to $38.2^{\circ}C$. Skin temperatures were varied largely with environmental temperature change. Ear, head and neck temperatures varied with $36.3{\sim}28.5^{\circ}C$, $36.1{\sim}28.0^{\circ}C$ and $35.0{\sim}28.2^{\circ}C$, respectively. In this study, we established a basic data base for normal body temperature in cattle. For more effective data base, it would be needed further study.

The analysis was done according to the target, health management, topics and the informer by using frequency and number. The findings are as follows : 1. The contents were categorized by target people. The number of items for women was 113(35.6%), child(17.4%), family(15.5), husband(4.7%) and others(26.8%). Others were the contents that are impossible to classify. 2. The number of items of contents by health management was the related to health maintenance and promotion 120(47.8%), health care when they were deviated from health 26(10.3%), and those of both attributes 105(41.8%). 3. The number of items of contents by topics was the related to the occurrence, prevention and treatment of various kinds of disease 41(12..9%), diet 37(11.7%), academic information 11.3%, women's disease 10.4%, the effect of foods 6.0%, child's growth & development and child care 5.75, various kinds of therapy for health care 5.7%, sexual life 5.4% and exercise 4.7%. 4. The number of items of contents by informer was medical doctor 215(49%), lay person's case report or report of a struggle against a disease 12.3%, relevant organization of a related story(eg. family therapy research institute, physical therapist's or teacher's) 11.2%, and the contents of existing books or lecture 8.9%. Among those contents, only the one case from nurse or Korean nurses association as informer was founded, which is related to "skinship child care." In conclusion, this finding showed that women's magazine took a role as a important resource providing informations of health to women. it provides a challenge to the health professionals to have concerns on women's needs, and the content, source, and accuracy of the health related information and take part in the process producing information through such as screening and examining so as to give accurate information to women. Then women's magazine can take a role as a major resource for maintaining and promoting women's health. Finally, nurses's, who are professional health care providers, important and active role as informers toward the lay persons, especially for the women who are non-professional care givers at the family unit should be stressed. More active and continual monitoring and analyzing the contents related health in the mass media including magazine and Internet network in detail, and participating in establishing the system of adequate and precise information for women and lay persons from the nursing profession are required absolutely.

  • The Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) data-processing system (GDPS), which is a software system for satellite data processing and analysis of the first geostationary ocean color observation satellite, has been developed concurrently with the development of th satellite. The GDPS has functions to generate level 2 and 3 oceanographic analytical data, from level 1B data that comprise the total radiance information, by programming a specialized atmospheric algorithm and oceanic analytical algorithms to the software module. The GDPS will be a multiversion system not only as a standard Korea Ocean Satellite Center(KOSC) operational system, but also as a basic GOCI data-processing system for researchers and other users. Additionally, the GDPS will be used to make the GOCI images available for distribution by satellite network, to calculate the lookup table for radiometric calibration coefficients, to divide/mosaic several region images, to analyze time-series satellite data. the developed GDPS system has satisfied the user requirement to complete data production within 30 minutes. This system is expected to be able to be an excellent tool for monitoring both long-term and short-term changes of ocean environmental characteristics.

  • Korea Polar Research Institute (KOPRI) has successfully installed two autonomous very broadband three-component seismic stations at the King George Island (KGI), Antarctica, during the 24th KOPRI Antarctic Summer Expedition (2010 ~ 2011). The seismic observation system is originally designed by the Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology Program for Array Seismic Studies of the Continental Lithosphere Instrument Center, which is fully compatible with the Polar Earth Observing Network seismic system. The installation is to achieve the following major goals: 1. Monitoring local earthquakes and icequakes in and around the KGI, 2. Validating the robustness of seismic system operation under harsh environment. For further intensive studies, we plan to move and install them adding a couple more stations at ice shelf system, e.g., Larsen Ice Shelf System, Antarctica, in 2013 to figure out ice dynamics and physical interaction between lithosphere and cryosphere. In this article, we evaluate seismic station performance and characteristics by examining ambient noise, and provide operational system information such as frequency response and State-Of-Health information.

  • Medium and small-sized venture firms as well as multinational companies pay liabilities of foreignness. We defined these costs as three different factors which are liability of handicaps(deficit of time, money, experience and, increase of financial risk), overseas market entry costs(information gathering costs, network building costs, marketing costs, channelling costs, monitoring costs), internationalization preparing costs(forecasting and market research of local markets, ex-ante cooperation with local firms), and then empirically tested how each of these factors affects on their business performances. The more important both Taiwanese and Korean firms consider liability of handicaps, the more bigger they pay overseas market entry costs(H1). On the contrary, the more important they consider overseas entry costs, the more they focus on internationalization preparation(H4) and get the better business performances(H5). The more important Korean firms consider liability of handicaps, the bigger they focus on internationalization preparation, on the contrary, the less Taiwanese firms do this(H2). Taiwanese firms as well as Korean firms rejected Hypothesis 3 and 6 which mean both liability of handicaps and internationalization preparation are no relation with their own business performances.
