A distributed healthcare monitoring system prototype for clinical and trauma patients was developed, using wireless sensor network node. The proposed system aimed to measure various vital physiological health parameters like ECG and body temperature of patients and elderly persons, and transfer his/her health status wirelessly in Ad-hoc network to remote base station which was connected to doctor's PDA/PC or to a hospital's main Server using wireless sensor node. The system also aims to save the cost of healthcare facility for patients and the operating power of the system because sensor network is deployed widely and the distance from sensor to base station was shorter than in general centralized system. The wireless data communication will follow IEEE 802.15.4 frequency communication with ad-hoc routing thus enabling every motes attached to patients, to form a wireless data network to send data to base-station, providing mobility and convenience to the users in home environment.

According to the "hydrogen economy roadmap" announced recently by the government, fuel cell electric vehicle diffusion and hydrogen refueling station construction are actively being carried out to prepare for the hydrogen economy era. The station will be expanded by introducing various charging station models such as hydrogen complex charging station, package, and mobile. Accordingly, the study on the safety demonstration of the charging station and related regulations should be compromised. The purpose of this study is to collect monitoring data during charging according to the distinct four seasons in Korea, and to use it as safety demonstration data by analyzing the charging status, charging rate and charging time during charging.
Groundwater monitoring data from the National Groundwater Monitoring Stations, a total of 320 stations, were analyzed to identify the response of water level and quality to the Odaesan earthquake (M4.9) occurred in January 2007. Among the total of eight stations responded to the earthquake, five wells showed water-level decline, and in three wells, water level rose. In terms of recovery, water levels in four stations had recovered to the original level in five days, but not in the rest four wells. The magnitude of water-level change shows weak relations to the distance between the earthquake epicenter and the groundwater monitoring station. However, the relations to the transmissivities of monitored aquifer in the station with the groundwater change were not significant. To implement the earthquake monitoring system through the groundwater monitoring network, we still need to accumulate the long-term monitoring data and geostatistically analyze those with hydrogeological and tectonic factors.
In order to prevent secondary disaster such as gas explosion which comes after a devastating magnitude earthquake, the seismic monitoring and transmission system for natural gas governor station was developed. To measure ground motions precisely and operate the seismic monitoring system efficiently, the position and method of accelerometer installation were recommended by the analysis of ground noise patterns of governor station. For making a decision on prompt shut-off of gas supplies in the event of a great earthquake, the real-time calculation algorithm of PGA(Peak Ground Acceleration) and SI(Spectrum Intensity) were developed and it has been implemented in the seismic monitoring and transmission system.
Presented in the paper is an approach to developing an intelligent mold shop as a means to overcome the difficulties faced by mold-makers due to skill shortages and increased global competition. A machine shop where as much as of the human skills are replaced by a set of intelligent systems is called an intelligent machine shop, and an intelligent mold-making machine shop is called an intelligent mold shop(MS). By analyzing the contents of operator's skill. three intelligent S/W stations have been designed: Technical Data Processing(TDP) Station, Loading Schedule Station, and Real-time Monitoring Station. A detailed architecture of the TDP station is described, and measures of effectiveness of IMS are elaborated.
An oil tracking system that monitors the spilt oil trajectory by using GPS was developed. The system consists of a tracking buoy deployed on the oil spilt area and an onshore(or onboard) monitoring station. The tracking buoy is equipped with GPS, signal converter, handy radio and battery while the monitoring station includes a station radio, signal converter, antennas and PC. The hull shape of buoy is designed to effectively simulate the spilt oil movement at sea surface. Radio sets for HAM are used as a data transmitter and a data receiving station, and signal converter is also for amateur use. A field experiment was conducted and it was shown that the integrated system is relable and robust. The developed oil tracking system reveals reatively good performance at reasonable cost. In favorable environment the system may communicate in the distance more than 50km.
The adequacy of urban air quality monitoring networks in the largest metropolitan city, Seoul was evaluated using multivariate analysis for $SO_2$, $NO_2$, CO, PM10, and $O_3$. Through cluster analysis for 5 air pollutants concentrations, existing monitoring stations are seen to be clustered mostly by geographical locations of the eight zones in Seoul. And the stations included in the same cluster are redundantly monitoring air pollutants exhibiting similar atmospheric behavior, thus it can be seen that they are being operated inefficiently. Because monitoring stations groups representing redudancy were different depending on measurement items and several pollutants are being measured at the same time in each air monitoring station, it is seemed to be not easy to integrate or transmigrate stations. But it may be proposed as follows : the redundant stations can be integrated or transmigrated based on ozone of which measures are increasing in recent years and alternatively the remaining pollutants other than the pollutant exhibiting similar atmospheric behavior with nearby station's can be measured. So it is considered to be able to operate air quality monitoring networks effectively and economically in order to improve air quality.
We construct the hydrology-water quality monitoring system which can watch the variations of river flow and water quality in real time. We also construct the river management system through the hydrology-water quality monitoring system that can observe water quality and its variations for preparing for the accident of river pollution. The Gyecheon basin which is located at the upstream of Heoengseong dam is selected as an experimental watershed for the system construction. The real time monitoring system for getting more correct hydrological and water quality data consists of 3-rainfall gauge station, 3-water level gauge station, and 1-water quality gauge station. We intend that the data such as rainfall, water level, velocity, flow, and water quality will be collected and we try that the data may be used for practical and other purposes.

The seoul metropolitan subway has installed 8 lines and about 500 stations to transport 5 million passengers everyday. The underground air pollution level in the subway stations is very severe status, which is very harmful to the commutators and its personals. Although subway roles as such a massive and huge transportation system, the subway doesn't adapt yet any real-time air monitoring system. They have only some hand-held type detector equipments for monitoring air pollution. Therefore subway passengers are exposed to the harmful air pollution environment. The most harmful environmental parameters among the air pollution are known as the dust and sound noise dB level in the subway station. Because the dust is consisted of very small particles, we can't see them easily in dark condition on the platform, but it is very harmful. The monitoring system for air pollution is developed using embedded system attached with 6 different environmental sensors. This system monitors air pollution of dust sound noise, gas, temperature, humidity, inflammable gas, toxic gas in the subway ?station. The sensor unit of the ARM-CPU board and sensor transmits real time environmental data to the main server using Zigbee wireless communication module and TCP/IP network. The main control server receives and displays the real-time environmental data, and it send alarms to the personals when high level value.
We have developed a patient monitoring system including module-based bedside monitors, interbed network, central stations, clinical workstations, and DB servers. A bedside monitor with a color LCD can accommodate up to 3 module cases and 21 different modules. Six different physiological parameters of ECG, respiration, invasive blood pressure, noninvasive blood pressure, body temperature, and arterial pulse oximetry with plethysmoyaph are provided as parameter modules. In a single bedside monitor, modules and a module controller communicate with IMbps data rate through an intrabed network based on RS-485 and HDU protocol. At the same time, it communicates with other bedside monitors and central stations through interbed network based on 1 OMbps Ethernet and TCP/IP protocol. Central stations using 20" color CRT monitors can be connected with many bedside monitors and they display 18 channels of waveforms simultaneously. Clinical workstations are used mainly for the review of patient datE In order to accommodate more advanced data management capabilities such as 24-hour full disclosure, we have developed a relational database server dedicated to the patient monitoring system. Software for bedside monitor, central station, and clinical workstation fully utilizes graphical user interface techniques and all functions are controlled by a rotate/push button on the bedside monitor arid a mouse on the central station and clinical workstation. The entire system satisfies the requirements of AAMI and ANSI standards in terms of electrical safety and performances.nces.
