  • Recently, the micro mold maching techining technology is developed by means of the mechanical and high energy beam process. It is possible to make the micro structure mold with high aspect ratio by the LIGA technology. This mode is used for mass production of plastic parts by the micro injection molding method. In this study, we intend to research on the basic technology of micro injection molding. As the result, we developed the injection molding technology for small column plastic parts which diameter is 500 .mu. m and 200 .mu. m respectively with wbout aspect ratio 20.

  • The cooling rate and the uniformity of mold temperature, in the injection molding process, possess great influences on the productivity and quality of replications. The conformal cooling channel, which is of a uniform spacing from the mold cavity by the metal additive manufacturing process, receives much attention recently. The purpose of this study is to develop a mold core with a curved conformal cooling channel for a pottery-shaped thick-wall cosmetic container through the hybrid method of direct metal tooling (DMT) process. In this study, we design a mold core that contains the curved cooling channel for the container. A method that divides the cavity is proposed and the DMT process is carried out to form the curved cooling channel. The test mold core, with the curved conformal cooling channel, has been fabricated by the proposed method to confirm the feasibility of the design concept. We show that no leakage is observed for the additive manufactured test mold core, and its physical properties demonstrate that it can be sufficiently used as the injection mold core.

금형온도가 사출성형품의 웰드라인과 치수안정성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (Effects of Mold Temperature on the Weldline and Dimensional Stability of Injection-molded Parts)

  • 본 논문은 금형의 온도 변화가 사출성형품의 미시구조에 미치는 영향에 관해 연구했다. 웰드라인의 폭과 길이는 금형온도가 증가함에 따라 모두 감소되었다 그리고 금형의 온도에 따른 결정성수지인 PP(Polypropylene)와 비결정성수지인 PS(Polystyrene)의 치수안정성에 관해 연구했다. PS성형품은 금형온도가 높을수록 수축률이 줄어들고, 두께 편차가 적어졌고, PP성형품의 경우에는 결정의 생성으로 인해 상반된 경향이 나타났다. 캐비티의 충전성과 전사성은 금형온도가 높을수록 향상되었다.

CATIA API를 이용한 사출 금형의 3차원 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the 3D Injection Mold Design Using CATIA API)

  • The design methodology of plastic injection molding die has been gradually moved from two-dimensional line drawings to three-dimensional solid models. The 3D design gives many benefits, a few of which are: ease of design change, data associativity from concept design to final assembly. In the paper represented is the implementation of a program which automatically generates 3D mold-bases and cooling-lines, conforming to given geometric constraints. It utilized a commercial CAD software and the related API(application program interface) libraries. We constructed a DB(database) of typical mold-bases assembled from standard parts, from which the geometry (position & dimension) of a mold-base and composed parts can be automatical]y determined by a few key parameters. Also we classified cooling lines into several typical types and constructed a DB, from which the position of cooling lines is automatically determined. The research is expected not only to simplify construction of a 3D mold-base model including cooling lines but also to reduce design efforts, by way of databases and automatized determination of geometric dimensions.

  • 본 연구에서는 Fig.1은 본 시스템이 제품의 형상을 모델링하고 그것으로부터 어떻게 금형을 설계하는 지를 설명해주고 있다. 본 연구의 범위는 Fig.1의 점선에 의해 둘러 싸인 부분이다. 즉 본 시스템의 모델링 기능을 사용하여 생성시킨 최종제 품 형상으로부터 적당한 몰드 베이스와 그에 장착되는 금형판을 설계 생성시키는 작업 이다.수지의 유동 해석과 NC공구 경로의 계산은 개발 중에 있으며 이들과 함께 통 합되면 완전한 CAD/CAM 시스템을 Fig.1에서와 같이 구축할 수 있다.

  • The injection molding process has high accuracy and good reproducibility that are essential for mass production at low cost. Conventional molding processes typically use the water-based mold heating and air cooling methods. However, in the nano injection molding processes, this semi-active mold temperature control results in the several defects such as air-flow mark, non-fill, sticking and tearing, etc. Therefore, in order to control temperature of the molds actively and improve the quality of the molded products, the novel nano injection molding system, which uses active heating and cooling method, has been introduced. By using the Peltier devices, the temperature of locally adiabatic molds can be controlled dramatically and the quality of the molded patterns can be improved.

  • Injection-compression molding parts are many cases with complicated boundary condition which is difficult to analysis of mold characteristics precisely. In this study, the effects of various process parameters such as multi-point gate location, initial charge volume, injection time and pressure have been investigated using finite element method to fomulate the melt front advancement during the mold filling process. A general governing equation for tracking the filling process during injection-compression molding is applied to volume of fluid method. To verify the results of present analysis, they are compared with those of the other paper. The results show a strong effect of processing conditions as a result of variations in the three-dimensional complex geometry model.

  • Micro injection molding is a branch of micro system technology and has been under development for the mass manufacture of micro parts. Enhanced technological products like micro optical devices are entering the market. This paper presents fundamental research on the injection molding technique in micro fabrication. In order to successful manufacturing of micro plastic parts, it is necessary to research for development of micro-injection machine, machining of micro mold, decision of optimum injection conditions and the research for polymer material. Therefore in this study, in order to machining of micro mold, a mold core with microscopic V-shaped groove was tooled by ultra-precise tooling machine. The transcription experiments with a polymer, PMMA resin on the surface of core with Ni plating were carried out and surface profile of injected parts was measured with AFM.

  • Due to the capability of net shaping for complex 3D geometry, powder injection molding (PIM) is widely used for automotive parts, electronics and medical industry. In this study, an ultrasonic dental scaler tip produced by machining process was redesigned for the PIM process. An injection mold was designed and manufactured to produce the dental scaler tip by the PIM process.

  • The technologies of mold design, manufacturing, injection molding process and computer aided engineering(CAE) are developed rapidly with the growth of plastic product market. Injection molding process optimum design can not be easily determined. This study was determined factors and levels which carried out to analyze an influence of narrow pitch BGA socket warpage and performed investigating the main effect and interaction effect between factors using design of experiment. The result of this paper is injection time and packing pressure are affect on narrow pitch BGA socket warpage at injection molding.
