캐드 환경에서 플라스틱 사출 금형 설계 시스템의 개발 (Development of Plastic Injection Mold Design System on the CAD Environment)

  • In this work, we have been concerned with developing an intelligent mold design system for plastic injection molding on the AutoCAD. We have concentrated on building a viable environment, including a mold parts database and a menu-driven user interface. This provides a more interactive and interface for selection of optimal mold-base and mold parts in mold design system. This work presents a method which allows the designer to select the mold parts and mold-base directly within an AutoCAD environment. It can also automatically generate detailed 3D drawings of the mold parts and mold-base. The system shows its potential capability for future enhancement. Since the system is independent of the data, it could easily be extended to other mold-bases and mold parts. In addition, it can be linked to the molding analysis system by creating subtracted 3-D models.

  • Automated design system of injection mold was developed in this study. Shapes of mold parts and mold base were defined according to standards of mold components and database modules of mold components were built. And then an automation program of mold design was developed by the user definition features, family table and Pro/Program of Pro/Engineer. The automatic production divided into mold base and standard parts was manipulated to manufacture parts meeting the design requirements and the selected parts were changed in size and shape to meet the design goals. The mold design was also carried out to have organic relations and be easy in case of a change to the mold part or mold base. As a result, it is possible to design the mold efficiently and conveniently modify the designed mold parts and base by using the developed automated design system in this study.

  • 본 논문은 금형의 온도 변화가 사출성형품의 미시구조에 미치는 영향에 관해 연구했다. 웰드라인의 폭과 길이는 금형온도가 증가함에 따라 모두 감소되었다 그리고 금형의 온도에 따른 결정성수지인 PP(Polypropylene)와 비결정성수지인 PS(Polystyrene)의 치수안정성에 관해 연구했다. PS성형품은 금형온도가 높을수록 수축률이 줄어들고, 두께 편차가 적어졌고, PP성형품의 경우에는 결정의 생성으로 인해 상반된 경향이 나타났다. 캐비티의 충전성과 전사성은 금형온도가 높을수록 향상되었다.

  • In this paper, we have been concerned with development of plastic mold design system by using Auto CAD. We provides a interface and interaction for mold designer who can select optimal mold base and mold parts within Auto CAD environment. We use the paramatric design method and an essential elements group forms. This program made for using Visual Lisp, DCL and Visual Basic that could easily get a database which is built to mold base and parts within Auto CAD. We provide 6 types mold base and 35 parts database for designer. In addition, it will be lined to mold cost and not only 2-D but also 3-D models

  • Spur Gear parts for automobile actuators using existing former forging technology were produced in a total of three processes on a former forging machine. However, in order to improve cost increase due to frequent mold breakage, Spur Gear parts were designed and manufactured in the cold forging process after forming the preform through former forging. In other words, in the existing former forging mold, product seating defects occurred due to horizontal movement, resulting in many product defects and mold damage, so there was an urgent need to improve mold life and product defects. In order to improve this, we tried to improve the mold life by improving the existing 3 former forging processes to a former forging process and 2 cold forging processes. Therefore, We developed Spur Gear parts for automobile actuators were developed by applying precision cold forging technology through a former forging process and 2 cold forging processes to improve mold life.

재활용을 위한 몰드베이스 구조 및 표준화 (The Structure and Standardization of Mold Base for Recycling)

  • The injection molding is a traditional manufacturing method that can make plastic parts by just one time in mold. Therefore, the injection molding has become one of a manufacturing method, which is widely applied in a producing of plastic products. Nowadays, to use of plastic parts has increased and plastic product-model using term has been shorten. By these reasons, using term of a injection mold has fast been reduced. These produced molds will be disused and leaved in a storage after a regular term to use it. These leaved molds are sometime sold as scrap iron. But, these molds have lots parts for recycling except special parts for example, cavities, cores and eject pins, etc. In this research, we investigated when the cavity and core of in injection mold would be changed, the injection mold could be recycled. We suggested the structures and standardizations for recycling of a moldbase. We also developed a program in which can be used when the recycling moldbase design in the Auto-CAD with the recycling standards. We called this program as the Recy-Mold. For the availability of the program and moldbase structure fur the recycling standards, we experimented a used mold for automobile lens, which was remanufactured by the recycling standard. The results of this test showed feasibility for the recycling mold.

자동차핸들 제품의 CAE해석을 활용한 가스 사출성형에 관한연구 (Research on Gas Injection Mold using CAE Analysis of Steering wheel Parts)

  • 플라스틱 사출성형제품은 금형을 제작하여 대량생산에 적합한 시스템으로서 두께가 두꺼운 자동차 핸들제품은 가스사출성형을 수행하는 것이 바람직하다. 가스사출성형은 용융된 원재료를 금형내로 충전시킨 후 질소가스를 주입하는 기술이다. 가스사출성형은 재료비절감, 품질향상 등 많은 장점을 가지고 있다. Moldflow소프트웨어를 활용하여 사출성형 공정을 해석하여 제품의 휨 변형을 최소하기 위한 게이트의 위치를 결정하였으며, 기존의 일반적인 PP재료로 가스사출 성형을 했을 경우 변형이 크게 발생되므로 미네랄이18% 함유된 PP 재료로 변경하여 사출제품의 휨 변형을 최소로 하는 것과 게이트의 위치를 변경하여 핑거링현상이 발생하는 트러블을 제거하는 것을 목적으로 하였다, 또한 가스 사출성형을 수행하였을 경우 원재료가 유입되고 난후 게이트를 기준으로 가스가 유입된 형상을 파악하기 위해 비교분석해 보았다. 본 연구를 통해 제품형상에 따른 두께의 변화와 가스사출성형을 수행하더라도 플라스틱의 재료에 따라 제품의 휨이 발생 될 수 있다는 것과 게이트의 위치가 제품의 트러블에 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Unigraphics API를 이용한 사출금형의 3차원 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the 3D Injection Mold Design Using Unigraphics API)

  • The design methodology of injection molding die has been changed from two-dimensional drafting to three-dimensional solid modeling, which is due to many advantages over the conventional methodology in terms of design modification and data associativity. In addition to the solid modeling capability, it is required for a mold designer to utilize a database management system that facilitates efficient mold design. In the paper presented is the implementation of a software program which automatically generates three-dimensional mold-bases including standard parts and slider parts, conforming to given geometric constraints. It is based on a commercial CAD system (Unigraphics NX) along with related API (application program interface) libraries. The research is expected to reduce design efforts and simplify construction of a complex three-dimensional mold-base model that is comprised of standard parts and slider parts, by use of the three-dimensional database and automatized geometric dimensioning.

복잡한 3차원 곡면을 가지는 플라스틱 사출 성형품을 위한 진원도의 수학적 모델링 (Mathematical Modeling of the Roundness for Plastic Injection Mold Parts with Complicated 3D curvatures)

  • In this study, we constructed the mathematical model to evaluate the roundness for plastic injection mold parts with complicated 3D curvatures. Mathematically we started off from the equation of circle and successfully derived an analytical solution so as to minimize the area of the residuals. On the other hand, we employed the numerical method the similar optimization process for the comparison. To verify the mathematical models, we manufactured and used a ball valve type plastic parts to apply the derived model. The plastic parts was fabricated under the process conditions of 220-ton injection mold machine with a raw material of polyester. we experimentally measured (x, y) position using 3D contact automated system and applied two mathematical methods to evaluated the accuracy of the mathematical models. We found that the analytical solution gives better accuracy of 0.4036 compared to 0.4872 of the numerical solution. The numerical method however may give adaptiveness and versatility for optional simulations such as a fixed center.

주문자 요구에 유연하게 대응하는 금형 부품의 전자 거래 (E-Machining of Engineering-to-Order Mold Park from e-Catalog)

  • 많은 금형 부품의 거래에서는, 고객이 표준화된 기성품에서 대해서, 제조업체의 제조 가능한 범위에서 설계 사양을 수정하여 주문하는 패턴이 일반적이다. 기존의 전자카탈로그 시스템은 기성품의 거래에 최적화 되어 있어서 이와 같은 주문품의 거래에 적용하기가 어렵다. 이와 같은 문제를 해결하기 위해서 본 논문에서는, 제품에 대한 설계 지식 및 제조 업체의 생산 지식을 적용하여, 전자카탈로그 시스템에서 주문품의 거래를 가능하게 하는, 주문자 설계변경을 통한 거래 (ETO: engineering-to-order) 방법을 제안한다. 그리고 ETO 방법의 구현을 위해 필요한 주요 요소기술에 대해서 분석하고, 금형 부품 중 하나인 이젝터핀과 몰드베이스에 대해서 실험한 결과에 대해서 소개한다.
