In this study, to determine the optimum fermentation process for the feed production of food wastes and estimate the practical value of fermented feed using kudzu creeper and sawdust as bulking agent. This study considered initial C/N ratio control as the fermentation process variables. The result are summarized as follows. Minimum water contents of byproducts in the fermentation feed production showed 39%(kudzu), 37%(sawdust) at the C/N ratio 25 and 45%(kudzu, sawdust) at the C/N ratio 35. Temperature variations in the fermentation feed production at the C/N ratio 25 indicated $68^{\circ}C$(kudzu), $70^{\circ}C$(sawdust). Optimum condition of fermentation process of water content, C/N ratio and permeability (porous structure of the mixture). For optimum fermentation gravitationally dewatered garbage, the proper mixing ratios of kudzu(moisture contents : 17.3%) and sawdust(moisture contents : 13.2%) were 41% and 39%, respectively. Major biological reaction in the aerobic fermentation feed production occurred during 12~24hrs.
Epoxy resins are widely used in microelectronics packaging such as printed circuit board and encapsulating for semiconductor manufacturing. Water can diffuse into and through the epoxy matrix systems and moisture absorption at boarding interfaces of matrix resin systems can lead to a hydrolysis at the interfaces resulting in delamination of encapsulating materials. In the study, the changes of diffusion coefficient and moisture content ratio of epoxy resin systems with nano-sized fillers according to the change of liquid type epoxy resins were investigated. RE-304S, RE-310S, RE-810NM and HP-4032D as a epoxy resin, Kayahard AA as a hardener, and 1B2MI as a catalyst were used in these epoxy resin systems. After curing, moisture content ratios were measured with time under the 85 and 85% relative humidity condition using a thermo-hydrostat. The maximum moisture absorption ratio and diffusion coefficient of EMC decrease with the filler content. It can be seen that these decreases are due to the increase of filler surface area and the decrease of moisture through channel with the content of nano-sized filler.
Objectives: Tongue moisture is one of major features in tongue diagnosis of Oriental Medicine. But with regard to the methods to qualify the tongue moisture level, there have been no adequate modalities to satisfy clinicians' needs. So we developed an novel device and method to quantify the tongue moisture level without contact. Methods and Materials: Ratio of saturated area to total tongue area in the image captured with a spot light at various angles was calculated. We regarded that ratio represented the moisture of tongue surface. To evaluate the performance of suggested method, we observed the correlation between conventional contact method and our method with 19 healthy subjects. Results: With comparison to conventional contact method (Schirmer test), the suggested method showed good correlation (R = 0.8602, R2 = 0.7399). Conclusion: This Method could be a convenient and robust method to evaluate tongue moisture.
This study was carried out to evaluate the performance of a medium scale rice polisher of 2.5 t/h and to improve its performance for producing the clean rice with high quality. The maximum internal pressure, broken rice ratio. whiteness in the rice polisher were investigated, and the effects of outlet resistance, water spraying rate, shaft revolution speed and rice moisture content on the polishing performance were analyzed to find out proper operating conditions. The conclusions of this study were as follows: 1. In the performance evaluation of the polisher, the broken rice ratio increment of 0.1%, the max. internal pressure of about 11 N/${cm}^2$, and whiteness increment of 2.2~3.7 resulted at the conditions of 20 PS driving power, 950 rpm, 150 cc/min water spraying rate, 44.1 Nㆍcm outlet resistance and about 15% rice moisture content. 2. Though max. internal pressure and whiteness at the 17% rice moisture content were higher than those at the 15% moisture content under the same operating conditions of the polisher, but the broken rice rate at the 17% moisture content was absolutely low compared with that at 15% moisture content. The water spraying effect to reduce broken rice and to increase whiteness was much significant at the 15% moisture content not significant at 17% moisture content. 3. The main parameter of the performance was outlet resistance, and low resistance of about 44.1 Nㆍcm was recommended at the polisher. 4. The proper water spraying rate in the polisher was about 150 cc/min. 5. As the shaft revolution speed decreased from 950 rpm and 800 rpm to 650 rpm, the broken rice ratio increased and whiteness decreased. 6. As the driving power of the polisher increased from 20 PS to 30 PS, the max. internal pressure decreased by about 1~2.5 N/${cm}^2$ and whiteness increased by about 1~2, but the broken rice rate was not changed. 7. The proper operating conditions of the polisher seemed to be the revolution speed of 800-950 rpm, the water spraying rate of about 150 cc/min, the oulet resistance of about 44.1 N.cm and 30 PS driving power.
This research conducted to investigate the variation of the moisture content, crack ratio, and hardness of the whole and cracked brown rice after conditioning at the initial moisture content of 13, 14, and 15% with time lapse. The conditioning was conducted by increasing the moisture content of the sample to 0.4 and 0.8%. For basic information and conditioning characteristics for the development of a conditioning machine for the brown rice, predicted models of above three properties were developed using a nonlinear regression analysis of SAS with Gauss-Newton, Gradient, and DUD methods. Results of this research could be summarized as follows. 1. No moisture variation occurred after 0.5 hour conditioning. 2. The increasement of the crack ratio was 7.6 and 17.5% with the sample increased the moisture content of 0.4 and 0.8%, respectively, after 8 hours conditioning. 3. The hardness of the conditioned whole grain of the brown rice decreased 0.82 and 1,000kg$\_$f/ with the sample increased moisture content 0.4 and 0.8%, respectively, after 8 hours conditioning with respect to the non-conditioned sample. 4. The hardness of the conditioned cracked grain of the brown rice decreased 0.54 and 0.81kg$\_$f/ with the sample increased moisture content 0.4 and 0.8%, respectively, after 8 hours conditioning with respect to the non-conditioned sample. The hardness of the broken grain was about 0.81∼1.88kg$\_$f/ lower than whole grain. 5. The moisture content variation, increasing rate of the crack ratio, and hardness of the cracked and whole grain was predicted as a negative exponential function. 6. Each predicted model with the nonlinear regression analysis, which was very accurate and had a very small amount of sum of square of error between experimental value and predicted value, which could be used for predicting the physical variation after conditioning.

The function of the moisture-proof paper is to prevent moisture from adsorbing into the packed goods. Water-vapor transmission rate of the moisture-proof paper should be less than 100g/$m^2$.24hr and the optimum rate would be less than 50g/$m^2$.24hr. In general the moisture-proof paper has been made by laminating polyethylene or polypropylene on top of the base paper. However this kind of moisture-proof paper has a problem in recycling so that it brings about environmental pollution. In general the moisture-proof paper has been made by laminating polyethylene or polypropylene on top of the base paper. However this kind of moisture-proof paper has a problem in recycling so that it brings about environmental pollution. The purpose of this paper was to make moisture-proof paper using the mixture of SB latex and wax emulsion which was recyclable and environmentally friendly. Water vapor transmission rate showed less than 50g/$m^2$.24hr in mixture ratio of 85:15, 87:13, 90:10. Especially the mixture ratio of 87:13 showed the most favorable water-vapor transmission rate. However, the moisture-proof layer was destroyed slightly by folding in packing. It has been observed that there was no close relationship between water-vapor transmission rate of the moisture-proof paper and grammage of the base paper, but the density of base paper had influenced on water vapor transmission rate. It was also observed that the moisture-proof paper could be recycled. The moisture-proof paper was similar to base paper in degree of the pulping, and there was no significant difference in dispersion between moisture-proof paper and base paper. Most of wax particles which caused the spots during drying process could be removed by flotation process. Tensile strength and tear strength of both moisture-proof paper and base paper after pulping were measured to examine the fiber bonding, and no significant difference in physical properties was observed.
The characteristics of moisture ventilation in a dry room are studied numerically The behaviors of moisture ventilation are analyzed by varying the aspect ratio of the horizontal plane and for various positions of the outlets in the room. Three different ventilation efficiencies have been used to examine the effect of the longitudinal arrangement of outlets and transverse arrangement of outlets for each aspect ratio on ventilation inside the room. It is shown that the ventilation efficiency in the dry room can be improved by arranging the outlets transversely in the cases that the aspect ratio is less than three and longitudinally in the cases that it is greater than four.
