Analysis of Effect of Phase Error Sources of Polarization Components in Incoherent Triangular Holography

  • We derive the point-spread function of the reconstructed image from a point-source complex hologram, which includes phase error caused by polarization components, in the longitudinal direction of the point-spread function and analyze the effect of the error sources of polarization components having influence on image reconstruction of a point-source complex hologram in incoherent triangular holography.

  • In many areas of finite element analysis, elements with special properties are required to achieve maximal accuracy. As examples, we may mention infinite elements for the representation of spatial domain that extend to special and singular elements for modeling point and line singularities engendered by geomeric features such as reentrant corners and cracks. In this paper, we study on modified shape function representing singular properties and algorigthm for the pollution adaptive mesh generation. We will also show that the modified shape function reduces pollution error and local error.

  • Two types of digital repetitive control systems are analyzed and designed to reduce the error spectrum including not only harmonic but also non-harmonic components. First, a novel gain scheduling algorithm is suggested for conventional and modified repetitive controller is scheduled to reduce the infinite norm of error in frequency domain. For this, the relative error transfer function is mewly defined as the ratio of the error spectrum for the system with a repetitive controller to the error spectrum for the system with a repetitive controller to the error spectrum for the system without a repetitive controller. Secondly, as an alternative of a repetitive control system with the gain scheduling, a repetitive control system with higher order repetitve function is analyzed and designed, where instead of equal weightings, weightings of the higher order repetitive function is determined in such a way that the infinite norm of relative error transfer function is minimized. To show the validities of proposed methods, computer simulation results are illustrated for a typical disk drive head positioning servo system.

A Modified Decision-Directed LMS Algorithm (수정된 DD LMS 알고리즘)

  • We propose a modified form of the decision-directed least mean square (DD LMS) algorithm that is widely used in the optimization of self-adaptive equalizers, and show the modified version greatly improves the initial convergence properties of the conventional algorithm. Existing DD LMS regards the difference between a equalizer output and a quantization value for it as an error, and achieves an optimization of the equalizer based on minimizing the mean squared error cost function for the equalizer coefficients. This error generating method is useful for binary signal or a single-level signals, however, in the case of multi-level signals, it is not effective in the initialization of the equalizer. The modified DD LMS solves this problem by modifying the error generation. We verified the usefulness and performance of the modified DD LMS through experiments with multi-level signals under distortions due to intersymbol interference and additive noise.

  • PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) has periodic torque ripple from the cogging torque and load conditions. This paper proposes the modified PID speed controller to reduce the speed ripple of the PMSM. The proposed modified PID controller uses a selective D(Differential) control term according to the speed error and the differential of the speed error. The proposed speed controller produces an additional torque reference such as torque compensator based on PI controller according to the speed error and the differential of the speed error, and it can reduce the vibration of the conventional D-control term with reduced speed ripple. Since the additional torque reference of the proposed speed controller is changed by the sign of the speed error and the differential of the speed error, a simple function to determine the sign of the error is used to produce the compensated torque. The proposed control scheme is verified by the computer simulation and the experiments.

p-Adaptive Mesh Refinement of Plate Bending Problem by Modified SPR Technique (수정 SPR 기법에 의한 휨을 받는 평판문제의 적응적 p-체눈 세분화)

  • The Zienkiewicz-Zhu(Z/Z) error estimate is slightly modified for the hierarchical p-refinement, and is then applied to L-shaped plates subjected to bending to demonstrate its effectiveness. An adaptive procedure in finite element analysis is presented by p-refinement of meshes in conjunction with a posteriori error estimator that is based on the superconvergent patch recovery(SPR) technique. The modified Z/Z error estimate p-refinement is different from the conventional approach because the high order shape functions based on integrals of Legendre polynomials are used to interpolate displacements within an element, on the other hand, the same order of basis function based on Pascal's triangle tree is also used to interpolate recovered stresses. The least-square method is used to fit a polynomial to the stresses computed at the sampling points. The strategy of finding a nearly optimal distribution of polynomial degrees on a fixed finite element mesh is discussed such that a particular element has to be refined automatically to obtain an acceptable level of accuracy by increasing p-levels non-uniformly or selectively. It is noted that the error decreases rapidly with an increase in the number of degrees of freedom and the sequences of p-distributions obtained by the proposed error indicator closely follow the optimal trajectory.

  • To improve system performance, we apply the concept of membership function to Variance Considered Machines (VCMs) which is a modified algorithm of Support Vector Machines (SVMs) proposed in our previous studies. Many classification algorithms separate nonlinear data well. However, existing algorithms have ignored the fact that probabilities of error are very high in the data-mixed area. Therefore, we make our algorithm ignore data which has high error probabilities and consider data importantly which has low error probabilities to generate system output according to the probabilities of error. To get membership function, we calculate sigmoid function from the dataset by considering means and variances. After computation, this membership function is applied to the VCMs.

Theoretical Performance Analysis of a Modified Rectangular Fin (변형된 사각 핀의 이론적 성능해석)

  • A modified rectangular fin is analyzed by two-dimensional analytic method and finite difference method. Relative error of heat loss from the modified rectangular fin between analytic method and finite difference method is presented. Comparisons of fin effectiveness and heat loss between a modified rectangular fin and a plane rectangular fin are made as a function of the non-dimensional fin length and wing height for different positions of wings by using analytic method. The ratio of the incremental rate of heat loss to that of the area of a modified rectangular fin is shown as a function of the wing height. One of the results shows that performance of a modified fin is more improved as the wing approaches the fin root.

Performance Improvement of MCMA Equalizer with Parallel Structure (병렬 구조를 갖는 MCMA 등화기의 성능 개선)

  • In digital communication system that the Modified Constant Modulus Algorithm (MCMA) reduced the use of the adaptive equalization algorithm to combat the Inter-symbol Interference (ISI). MCMA is relatively brief operation. The major point of MCMA that it only achieves moderate convergence rate and steady state mean square error (MSE). In this paper suggest, MCMA equalization improve the performance with parallel structure. It combines Modified Constant Modulus Algorithm(MCMA) and Modified Decision Directed(MDD) algorithm. By exploiting the inherent structural relationship between the 4-QAM signal's coordinates and 16-QAM signal's coordinates, another style of cost function for Modified Constant Modulus Algorithm(MCMA) is defined and If it happen to offset of received signals and MCMA is poor performance in order to overcome this because the paper combines apply for MCMA and MDD(Modified Decision Direct) algorithm. By computer simulation, we confirmed that the proposed PMCMA-MDD algorithm has the fater convergence rate and steady mean square error than the conventional MCMA.
