'가난한 연극, 가난한 미술' - 그로토프스키 연극이론과 아르테 포베라 ("Poor Theatre, Poor Art" - Jerzy Grotowsky's Play and Arte Povera)

  • What a concept of theatricality in modern art became more controversial is through a review "art and object-hood" on Michael Fried's minimal art, as having been already known broadly. As he had been concerned, the art following the minimalism is accepting as the very important elements such as the introduction of temporality, the stage in the exhibition space, and the audience's positive participation, enough to be no exaggeration to say that it was involved in almost all the theatricality. Particularly even in the installation art and the environment art, which have substantially positioned since the 1970s, the space is staged, and the audience's participation is greatly highlighted due to the temporal character and the site-specific in works. In such way, the theatricality in art work is today regarded as one of the most important elements. In this context, it is thought to have significance to examine theatricality, which is shown in the works of Arte Povera artists, who had been active energetically between 1967-1971. That is because the name of this group itself is what was borrowed from "Poor Theatre" in Jerzy Grotowski, who is a play director and theorist coming from Poland, and because of having many common points in the aspect of content and form. It reveals that the art called Arte Povera is sharing many critical minds in the face of commanding the field called a play and other media. Grotowski's theatre theory is very close to the theory and substance in Arte Povera in a sense that liberates a play, which was locked in literature, above all, renews the relationship between stage and seat and between actor and audience, and pursues a human being's change in consciousness through this. That is because Arte Povera also emphasizes the communication with the audience through appealing to a human being's perception and through the direct and living method, not the objective art concept of centering on the work. In addition, the poor play or poor art all has tendency that denies a system, which relies upon economic and cultural system, and seeks for what is anti-cultural, elemental, and fundamental. It is very similar even in a sense that focuses on the exploration process itself rather than the result, excludes the transcendental concept, and attaches importance to empiricism. However, Arte Povera accepts contradictoriness and complexity, and suggests eclecticism and tolerance, thereby being basically the nomadic art and the art difficult to be captured constitutively. On the other hand, there is difference in a sense that the poor play is characterized by purity, asceticism, seriousness, and solemnity. If so, which significance does this theatricality, which was introduced to art, ultimately have? As all the arts desire to be revealed with invisible things beyond the visual thing, theatricality comes to play a very important role at this time. If all the artists and audiences today came to acquire actual or virtual freedom much more, that can be said to be a point attributable to that art relied upon diverse conditions in a play.

대구근대역사관 소장 인력거 재질분석 연구 (Study on Material Characteristic of Daegu Modern History Museum Collection Rickshaw)

  • 본 연구에서는 대구근대역사관 소장 인력거의 재질별 분석을 통해 다양한 재질이 복합적으로 사용되는 근·현대문화재의 재료를 확인하고, 보존 및 관리의 기초 자료를 구축하고자 하였다. 금속, 목재, 섬유, 도료를 대상으로 P-XRF, 수종분석, 섬유동정, 도막층 분석(층상 구조, SEM-EDS, FTIR)을 실시한 결과, 금속은 구리(Cu), 아연(Zn), 황동(Brass)과 철(Fe)로 확인되었다. 목재는 상수리나무류, 삼나무, 대나무아과, 비자나무속이 식별되었으며, 이 중 삼나무는 일본 자생종으로 인력거 제작 당시 일본에서 목재를 수입하여 제작하고, 근대 일본 인력거의 제작 양식에 영향을 받은 것으로 추정되었다. 섬유는 면(Cotton)을 주로 사용하였으며, 일부는 가죽(Leather)도 확인되었다, 도막층은 캐슈(Cashew)를 사용하여 1회 이상 도포한 것으로 관찰되었으며, 특히 인력거 몸체부는 섬유층, 토회층, 도료층, 채색층이 중복되어 관찰되고, 성분이 다른 적색 안료(산화철 및 진사)층이 관찰된 점을 보아, 과거 일부 보수 및 보존처리가 진행된 것으로 판단된다.

포스트모더니즘 현대미술과 가구디자인의 조형적 특성에 관한 연구 - 1980년대 작품의 사례를 통한 상호연관성을 중심으로 - (A Study of the Formative Features of Painting and Furniture Design in Postmodernism - Focused on the correlation with their examples in the 1980s -)

  • Postmodernism, the theory and philosophy that swayed the world in the late 20th century, can be interpreted in various ways as a critical reaction against modernism as well as, in one way, the logical extension of modernism itself. Thus, an extensive understanding of the social and temporal background of the birth of postmodernism and a macroscopic and correlative approach toward the related artistic circles, especially art, were carried out before a formative discussion on the furniture design of postmodernism. Postmodemism in the field of furniture design shares the history of birth and spirit with Memphis, the progressive design group established by Ettore Sottsass in Milan, 1980. This study identifies the formative features of pestrnodernistic furniture design around those works that express the trend of postmodernism, in particular, chairs, as well as the designers who participated in the first Memphis exhibition at the Milan Furniture Fair. By identifying such features, the correlation between postmodemism and those features expressed in the works of postmodernism paintings were examined. The works of Anselm Kiefer, a German nee-expressionist who became famous through the Venice Biennale 1980, and five young Italian trans-avant garde authors were selected as the scope of this case study. The characteristics of postmodernism in modern art were analyzed in terms of themes, shape, and content and were derived as follows; Firstly, borrowed and past-oriented themes, secondly, deconstructive, atypical, plural, emotional, and intuitional shapes, and thirdly, basic, metaphorical, and abstract content, The formative characteristics of chair design in postmodemism furniture design are as follows; Firstly, deconstructive, symbolic, and abstract shapes, past-oriented, reactionary, and primitive colors and closing, as well as the characteristic of delivering commercial and metaphorical messages. The subjects and motives of art have been succeeded by the characteristics of color and closing in furniture, the shape and techniques of fine arts by the characteristics of furniture shape, and the content of art by that of furniture. They share key words and characteristics.

레이저영상의 그래픽 적 특성에 관한 연구 (Graphic Characteristics in Laser Images)

  • 새로움과 독특함을 추구하는 현대인의 의식구조와 예술의 본질을 바탕으로 예술과 디자인, 그리고 영상의 영역에 있어서도 다양한 매체가 끊임없이 등장하고 있다 . 레이저 또한 전자공학과 물리학의 발달에 힘입어 그 응용기술과 적용분야가 광범위해 지고 있는 가운데 엔터테인먼트 및 각종 이벤트 산업과 전시영상 등, 예술과 디자인의 영역에서 신비하고 환상적인 감동을 가져다주는 시각매체로 확고한 위치를 차지하게 되었다. 본 연구는 첨단과학의 산물로서, 그 독특한 물리적 특성으로 인한 환상적 시각효과창출로 새로운 시각전달매체로 등장하고 있는 레이저에 대한 영상제작측면에서의 연구로서, 레이저영상을 기획하고 제작함에 있어서 레이저의 물리적 특성과 테크놀로지 및 하드웨어상의 구성을 검토하고 레이저가 이미지를 완성시키는 그래픽 적 특성들을 고찰하여 레이저영상 기획 자와 연출가 및 아티스트들의 보다 활발한 레이저영상제작을 도모하고 궁극적으로는 질적으로 보다 완성도 높은 작품을 제작할 수도 있도록 한다.

18·19세기 서양 복식의 단추를 활용한 텍스타일 디자인 연구 (Study on the Textile Design using Buttons on Western clothing in the 18th·19th Centuries)

  • The study aims to explore a new direction for research on buttons by understanding the functions and artistic features of buttons on Western clothing in the 18th and 19th centuries, and to use the findings to develop a textile design. In terms of the research method, the period was set in the 18th and 19th centuries, when decorative features and artistic values of buttons on Western clothing reached theirpeak, while theoretical analysis was made based on literature and previous research papers on Western clothing, websites of the Metropolitan Museum and French Museum of Decorative Arts and other website materials, as well as special exhibition materials of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. Textile designs were developed using computer programs, including Clip Studio Paint and Adobe Photoshop, by integrating the reinterpreted motif of buttons in the 18th and 19th centuries and the styles that prevailed at that time. The results are as follows. First, buttons on Western clothing had the following three functions: a practical function, a symbolic function representing the wearer's status, and a decorative function expressing individuality and beauty. Second, buttons in the 18th century were works of art made with various handicraft techniques and were an important medium that expressed the wearer's fashion sense. In addition, buttons in the 19th century were mass-produced as a result of industrialization and took a major step forward with the development of materials and dyeing. Buttons reflected themes of poetry, drama, biblical stories, music and art, lifestyle,, along with the political and social atmosphere that rapidly changed after the revolution and fashion trends. Third, the artistic features and shapes of buttons were reinterpreted to create a design motif, and the design was developed reflecting the characteristic elements of the rococo style of the 18th century and the art nouveau style of the 19th century that can conform to modern fashion, thereby rediscovering the artistic meaning and value implied in buttons. In the future, the research on creative buttons of 20th century artists is expected to be conducted from various perspectives.

  • Throughout the world, interest in issues relevant to energy, resources, environment, etc, is ever soaring. Therefore, the restoration of modern architecture that fulfilled its epochal function is working as a cultural, historic medium. In addition, it also plays its role in the side of environmental approach and so on. Moreover, the museum, which was only used for the possession of art collections and exhibition purposes, is currently expanding its scale and range as the center of culture and education. Also in reality, with the use of various programs, it is globally pursuing urban vitalizations. This study looks at the meaning of modem architecture restoration as well as its relationship with urban area. Furthermore, the purpose of this study is to look for design method's direction by finding the relevance between modem architecture restoration and museum during the restoration. This study is based on transformation and preservation scale during the restoration of modern architecture. It analyzed plane and design direction. Additionally, this study analyzed the architectural and regional effect caused by restoration. As a result, in accordance with the direction of museum and the usage, scale, structure as well as superficial aging condition of previous architecture, it shows difference in design methods in the process of restoration. The exterior of architecture was restored and preserved to its original form in order to show the symbolical form through historical value. This is essential to the modern museum. On the other hand, the interior of architecture put more value on utilization concept that its preservation and thus was restored accordingly. However, in all the cases, previous architecture were commonly used and even when alterations and additions were made due to aging and their change in usage, they were restored in a way that preserved and harmonized previous architecture. If the design method for restoration of modern architecture selects the restoration method by considering problems related to location, building value, structure, if it is studied from various angles and is restored after considering its usage as a museum, then we will be able to generate cultural and historical synergy effect. Furthermore, apart from architecture, it will have great impact on urban vitalizations.

빌헬름 볼러트의 주택 작품에 나타난 공간적 특성에 관한 연구 - 프로그램 구성, 공간구축, 다차원적 경험을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Spatial Characteristics in the Residential Designs by Vilhelm Wohlert - Focusing on Program Composition, Spatialization, Multidimensional Experience -)

  • Vilhelm Wohlert is the Danish architect who designed Louisiana Museum of Modern Art near Copenhagen. Because of Louisiana Museum's popularity, Vilhelm Wohlert's name was started to be aware since 1990s. Although he is a well-known architect in Denmark, unfortunately his name is unknown in other countries. He designed various design projects from small scale furniture design to large scale museum and public projects. There are three programmatic categories in his architecture: exhibition programs including Louisiana Museum, residential program including private houses, and public programs including churches and schools. This thesis focuses on his residential design projects. Even though he designed a multi-family houses, Wohlert's house design consists of mainly one-off large private houses located in a nice natural environment. In chapter 3, the general history of his house projects was studied. Among them, the first exhibition house for Forum was explained more deeply to show Wohlert's early house design philosophy. In chapter 4, three built house projects were analyzed in detail. Analytical diagrams were used to show the key elements in the residential space. They are program composition, circulation, spatialization elements, final construction. His buildings have been compared with Alvar Aalto, Frank Lloyd Wright, and other Scandinavian architects. But there are some major differences that make Wohlert's design unique. In chapter 5, the case analysis results were summarized together to highlight the specific design characteristics found in Wohlert's residential design process. The universal spatial quality found in his residential projects can be applied in contemporary spatial designs.

이세이 미야케 컬렉션에 나타난 A-POC의 특성에 관한연구 (Characteristics of A-POC in Issey Miyake Collection)

  • In a contemporary fashion along with the advance of high technology, development of a new material is being increasingly emphasized and the need of creative convergence using a computer is being expanded. As a global designer who appeared through association between Japan and the West, Issey Miyake has been continually pursuing a new challenge and a solution using high technology, leading the globalization of Japanese fashion. This research aims at examining design characteristics of Issey Miyake collection's A-POC showing a new paradigm, that is, an innovative clothing manufacture system to input information on materials, colors and shapes into a textile machine based on the computer program and manufacture a cylindrical fabric for completion of seamless clothing without sewing or cutting. A-POC is evolving continually through the development of new materials including recycled fibers and organics together with diversification of processing technology. Besides, it shows design characteristics including an integrated manufacturing method, autonomy for customers' selection, practicality for comfortable wearing by the majority, environment friendly idea to reduce waste of fabrics and materials and a new presentation through convergence of exhibition concepts of modern art. This research on Issey Miyake's A-POC characteristics is expected to present a role of fashion designers in a new design idea and paradigm of contemporary clothing using high technology.

체험경제이론(4Es)에 따른 지역 체험전시관의 경쟁력 강화방안 : 전북 삼례문화예술촌 체험전시관을 중심으로 (Strategies to Increase Competitiveness of Local Experience Space: A Study of the 4Es in the Experience Space of Sam-Rae Arts Village in Wanju-gun, Jeollabukdo)

  • 최근 역사적으로 의미를 가지는 근대건축문화유산을 활용한 체험전시관들이 부상하고 있는데, 본 연구에서는 문화자원을 활용한 지역 체험전시관이 경쟁력을 강화하기 위한 방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 이에 전북 완주군 삼례문화예술촌의 체험전시관을 대상으로 체험경제이론의 체험요소(4Es)에 따라 전시관의 성격을 분석하였다. 연구방법은 공무원, 체험관담당자, 전문가 세그룹을 대상으로 심층면접조사를 실시하였다. 분석결과 비쥬얼미디어아트미술관은 엔터테인먼트, 김상림목공소는 교육, 책박물관은 현실도피, 책공방북아트는 엔터테인먼트, 디자인뮤지엄은 심미, 문화카페오스는 심미로 나타났다. 또한 영리성을 추구하는 전시관은 김상림목공소, 책공방북아트센터, 책박물관, 문화카페오스이며 비영리성을 추구하는 전시관은 디자인뮤지엄, 비쥬얼미디어아트미술관으로 나타났다. 연구결과 지역체험전시관의 경쟁력 강화방안으로 첫째, 지역민의 문화향유를 위한 공공성 확보방안으로 작품 순환전시, 작품 보조설명 시설구축, 문화적 장소표현을 해야 한다. 둘째, 관광객확보를 통한 수익창출 방안으로 다양한 체험프로그램 제공 및 공간 확보, 기념품 샵 운영 등을 해야 한다. 셋째, 삼례체험전시관의 홍보마케팅 전략방안으로 모바일 앱 개발 및 SNS 등을 활용하여 다양한 이벤트를 실시해야 한다.

타피스트리 제작 시뮬레이션 소프트웨어 개발 연구 (A Study on the simulation software of tapestry in textile design)

  • 섬유예술은 현대 미술운동의 하나로 부각되었고, 그 중에서도 타피스트리는 인간의 역사와 함께 시작되어 지금가지 전시회와 다양한 형태를 통해 선보이고 있고 점점 깊이 연구되고 있다. 그러나 이 작업과정은 광대한 크기로 인해 시간적 육체적 노력이 엄청나게 요구된다. 현 상황은 샘플작업을 한 뒤 본 작업에 들어가는데 마무리 작업을 할 때까지 그 느낌을 잘 알 수 없기 때문에 완성단계에서도 마음에 들지 않으면 다시 작업을 하는 경우가 많이 있다. 이런 문제점을 보완하기 위해서 미리 컴퓨터를 통하여 확인 후 수정을 거쳐 결과물을 볼 수 있도록 하여 창작의 시간을 늘이고 불필요한 시간을 없애고자 시뮬레이션이 연구되었 다. 이 시뮬레이션의 주된 내용은 스캔, 드로잉, 라인 클린 업, 필업, 렌더링, 내역 조회의 과정을 거쳐 프린트 할 수 있도록 구성되었다. 내용은 스캔과 드로잉에서 아이디어 창출을 하고 라인 클린 업에서 벡터 이미지로 만든 다음 실의 느낌을 주고 수정을 한다. 이 이미지를 렌더링하고 실의 길이와 무게 가격 조회를 한 후 프린트하는 전과정을 시뮬레이션 하는 패키지 소프트웨어를 프로토타입으로 제작한 것이다. 이런 과정을 통해 타피스트리를 하는 여러 작가들과 학생들에게 보다 쉽게 접하고 미연에 불필요한 노력과 시간들을 줄일 수 있도록 연구 개발되었다.
