  • Excavation for construction is implemented in natural geographical terrain using a variety of construction equipment. Therefore, 3D excavation simulation requires integration of geographical and equipment modeling. This paper proposes a technique that integrates geographical and equipment modeling for 3D simulations of construction excavation. The geographical model uses a digital map to show ground surface changes during excavation and the equipment model shows equipment movement and placement. This combination produced a state of the art 3D simulation environment that can be used for machine guidance. An equipment operator can use the 3D excavation simulation to help construction equipment operators with decisions during excavation work and consequently improve productivity.

  • This paper presents the new hybrid data mining technique using error pattern, modeling of improving classification accuracy. The proposed method improves classification accuracy by combining two different supervised learning methods. The main algorithm generates error pattern modeling between the two supervised learning methods(ex: Neural Networks, Decision Tree, Logistic Regression and so on.) The Proposed modeling method has been applied to the simulation of 10,000 data sets generated by Normal and exponential random distribution. The simulation results show that the performance of proposed method is superior to the existing methods like Logistic regression and Discriminant analysis.

  • Organizational change projects such as Business Process Redisign (BPR) have been perceived to incur high risk due to their high management complexity, enterprise-wide impace, and steep project cost. This research intends to reduce such risk by developing a systematic process redesign methods, called Dynamic Process Modeling (DPM) method. DPM integrates the customer-oriented business process modeling technique with computerized visual simulation technique to promote better understanding of the target process and enable performance simulation of the proposed redesign alternatives prior to actual BPR implementations. For the cusstomer-oriented process modeling, we propose Dynamic-Event Process Chain (Dynamic-EPC) extending from the conceptual customer process model, Event-Process Chain (EPC). We compare DPM with four other implementation-level process modeling methods over eight criteria and demonstrate its effectiveness by applying it to the real-world hospital BPR case.

  • This paper described the verification of modeling technique of underground distribution from comparison between field test and simulation. It needs more exact transient phenomenon analysis model to establish lightning protection of underground distribution line. Although, there were a lot of transient phenomenon researches, nobody could has verified the confidence of modeling from field tests in interior until now. So, simulation model verified field test is needed to analyse transient phenomenon of underground distribution system. The examination must be accomplished in many different condition before suggesting these verified analysis model. In this paper, the conditions were examined and the various data results on the different line composition was compared with the EMTP simulation, when the lightning impulse test was accomplished at underground distribution line. Also the value between field test and simulation was very closed and the method of modeling has demonstrated confidence, when the method is used to analyse domestic transient phenomenon of underground distribution.

  • While both functional verification and performance evaluation of a system are necessary for the development of effective and reliable communication systems, they have been usually performed individually through functional modeling with formal language tools and performance modeling with professional network performance evaluation tools, respectively. However, separate and duplicated modeling of a system may cause increase of the cost and inconsistency between the models. In order to overcome this problem, this paper proposes an integrated design technique that estimates the performance of a communication protocol designed in SDL with SDL-OPNET co-simulation. The proposed technique presents how to design a co-simulation system with the environment functions of Tau and the external system module of OPNET. InRes protocol was used as an example to show the applicability and usefulness of the proposed technique.

  • In view of the analysis of the phenomena and the prediction of the performance, mathematical modelling and simulation of a high temperature pilot reactor for water gas shift reaction (WGSR) has been carried out. Multiscale simulation incorporated computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technique, which has the capability to deal with the reactor shape, fluid and energy transport with extensive degree of accuracy, and process modeling technique, which, in turn is responsible for reaction kinetics and mass transport. This research employed multiscale simulation and the results were compared with those from process simulation. From multiscale simulation, the maximum conversion of was predicted approximately 0.85 and the maximum temperature at the reactor was calculated 720 K, resulting from the heat of reaction. Dynamic simulation was also performed for the time transient profile of temperature, conversion, etc. Considering the results, it is concluded that multiscale simulation is a safe and accurate technique to predict reactor behaviors, and consequently will be available for the design of commercial size chemical reactors as well as other commercial unit operations.

  • Computer virus modeling and simulation research has conducted with focus on the network vulnerability analysis. But computer virus shows the biological virus characters such as proliferation, reproduction and evolution. Therefore it is necessary to research the computer virus modeling and simulation using the Artificial life technique. The approach of computer modeling and simulation using Artificial life provides the analysis method about the effects on the network by computer virus and the behavior mechanism of computer virus. Hence this paper proposes the methodology of computer virus modeling and simulation using Artificial life, which is effected to contribute the research on the computer virus vaccine.

  • Recently, work-related musculoskeletal disorders(WMSDs) is one of the major issues in the shipbuilding industry. The number of injured workers has rapidly increased and demands for workers compensation, improvement of work condition and environment to prevent WMSDs become larger. To protect and reduce WMSDs in the shipbuilding industry, simulation technique which showed it's ability of increasing the manufacturing productivity will be applied, because simulation technique has the evaluation ability for a worker's danger level of production process by human activity analysis. In our research, we modeled worker's attitude and simulated worker's action. We evaluated the caution level, compared and analyzed the difference point of digital human which made on computer and actual worker's attitude to check feasibility of human modeling and simulation in the shipbuilding industry.

  • It is necessary to develop highly sophisticated Modeling & Simulation (M&S) system for the scientific investigation of marine accident causes and for the systematic reproduction of accidental damage procedure. To ensure an accurate and reasonable prediction of marine accidental causes, such as collision, grounding and flooding, full-scale ship M&S simulations would be the best approach using hydrocode, such as LS-DYNA code, with its Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) analysis technique. The objectivity of this paper is to present three full-scale ship collision, grounding and flooding simulation results of marine accidents, and to show the possibility of the scientific investigation of marine accident causes using highly sophisticated M&S system.

  • In this paper, we developed a simulation model of a car parts assembly line to improve the system performance such as worker's utilization balancing, productivity. This simulation model has been developed using QUEST, a true 3D discrete event simulation pakcage that is designed for modeling and analysis of manufacturing systems. We have suggested the results obtained to improve the system performances of an existing production line.
